Absolutely loved our meal here - wonderful service, lovely ambiance. We especially loved the spicy tuna and mango sushi roll and the green tea fondant dessert was delicious! This was our best meal out of our trip to New Zealand.
This restaurant is a Queenstown gem. Food is extremely tasty and beautifully presented and is definitely a must do for anyone who appreciates great Japanese food. We look forward to our next visit.
We impulsively popped in here and loved the professional service, lovely restaurant setting and the food was deliciously fresh and of a high standard.
Sashimi and sushi are authentic and top quality fish used. The starters and hot dishes are creative with clean yet exploding flavors that paints a picture in your mind. Best food I have tasted for a long time. even my 10 year old son found...this amazing.More
Fantastic Japanese food, presentation and service, better than I experience in good restaurants in Tokyo, where I lived for two years. the obvious choice is the Chefs dishes and also the saki testing set. Three saki all delicious. we will be back for sure
This is my 4th visit and just it's just like the other 3 times I bloody love it ! We decided to treat ourselves and went for the 12 course meal. It was divine from the first to the very last bite. We got a...mix of food to try, from cold to hot The service is amazing , Depite the fact they have so muuch dishes to clear at the table ;) After three years of traveling in New Zealand without a big wallet I believe this is my favorite restaurant in New Zealand!More
One of the best Sashimi platter I ever tasted. I am a very conservative traditional japanese sashimi/sushi lover. I would focus on the classical RAW fish and seafood dishes, altough I am sure the Meat menue is terrific, too. But again, if I go to...a sushi restaurant, lamb or chicken might not be the best order option. The seafood and fish is of the highest quality.More
I really wanted to like this place but things did not start out well. We made a reservation last week that was finally confirmed two days ago because they only confirm reservations for the prepaid pre-fixe menu. I assume this is because it is their...highest margin menu option. When we arrived at 8pm, I asked if we could sit at a different, more comfortable table but was told this was the table we were assigned and could not move. I found this odd because the restaurant had only 4 tables occupied and they closed at 9pm. Only 2 other guests arrived after us and were given very nice tables. Next, we were not approached for close to 20 minutes for a drink order, and in the interim, the two tables that were seated after us, both ordered drinks and then dinner. The salads, that arrived 55 minutes after we were seated, were fresh but still very average. We ordered a whole crayfish (lobster) to be prepared sashimi style but were told later, this item was not available. The sushi rolls were just okay. The Spider roll's softshell crabs breading was a bit gummy and the cucumbers were old. We also ordered Salmon and Wagyu Nigiri. Both had a strong butane flavor which is an indication of poor technique coupled with a low torch. Not good! The ironic part of the meal was the gnocchi with shrimp. It was the best item we had. Still just okay, but good in comparison. We would not have normally ordered gnocchi but it was a last minute replacement for the crayfish sashimi. There are several other restaurants in Queenstown that are fabulous. This is just not one of them.More
If Nobu and Matsumoto mean something to you, then you’ll have the international chops to appreciate this amazing Japanese-European fine dining Mecca. Everything is brilliantly conceived and executed, from the sushi to the lamb chops, to the desserts.
