Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Fantastic service by Daniel. He was extremely knowledgeable and obliging. We felt so looked after. Birthday dinner for my partner. We were very full upon leaving. Botswana stick to the 2hr table limit, so it was lucky they had an upstairs bar area with a...lovely fireplace that we could move to to free up our table for the next guests. We had a private dining room for 2. No view for those seeking one. The room itself wasn't very goodlooking, which surprised me, but the privacy, with just my partner and I in a solo room, was great. Advice - book as far in advance as you can to secure your preferred timeslot.More

I had the French onion soup, out of this world! Wine was tasty but overprice and a bit of upselling to be honest. Service was great. Ambience was good, a bit dark for me but good.

I booked dinner for 14 people in April 23. We were told we would have to have 2 tables as large bookings required a private room and set menu. We understood that the 2 tables may not be together. We had a late cancellation of...2 of our party due to illness. When we arrived they said there was only one table of 6, but when they checked properly they said there were indeed 2 tables of 6. We were shocked to find one table on the ground floor, and the other on the top floor about as far away as you could get. The front of house staff were rude and unaccommodating and said it was our fault as this seating possibility was stated on the booking form. No effort was made to try and remedy the situation. You can image our surprize when we found a group of 11 on the top floor who had booked THAT DAY. I had booked almost 12 MONTHS earlier. Some of our group are in the service industry, and said it was the worst behaviour from front of house staff they had seen anywhere. Appalling and shameful treatment of customers. The food and service were good but it is expensive. If you pay a premium, the experience should be top class. We will never go back.More

My sirloin steak was like slicing butter with a knife so tasty, melt in the mouth. The lady who attended to our table was very efficient and helpful to our needs. The atmosphere was rather rowdy but in view of the celebrations of a “Hen's...party” on a table nearby, this was understandable. We would have preferred a quieter table as a few in our group struggled with the background noise. But all in all I would recommend the food and service at Botswana Butchery.More

Waiter was great, cook ok, restaurant management staff poor! A very disappointing experience all round. To me this place has become arrogant and couldn’t give a stuff about their customers. Also it is incredibly crowded and noisy!

We booked a table for a 70th birthday for 14 people nearly 12 months ago. We accepted we may have to split over 2 tables. On arrival we were split over 2 floors as well when a table of 12 next to us booked at...5pm that day. Get real Botswana Butchery - you are not that great to treat your customers like that!!More

Our evening with Hostelss Tia started very badly, she managed to challenge our irritation zone twice... it was close to us running away, luckily the good menu made up for everything and the professional waitress Charlotte managed to thaw us out again. You would think...that all's well that ends well, but this review is not very good, with a couple paying more than 400 dollars for 2 dishes each and the wine was ok... but if the Tabasco drops for my oysters are charged extra per drop for a dollar each, they are missing the point.More

Great quality food and drinks. Really nice venue and set up nicely. Unfortunately the table service was lacking, which is no fault of the servers as it looked like they were running a few staff short maybe. But for a fine dining experience, the price...tag didn't quite match the service that I was expecting. Especially when you order a second round of drinks and they don't arrive until just before we finished our meal. When we were getting table service, our waiter was very good!More

We ate a late lunch here today. The views were stunning. The service was spectacular as was the food. The wait staff were very responsive and made great recommendations. I enjoyed the NZ sparkling selection as well as the special of the day.

We had a ‘special birthday’ dinner at the Butchery that was great from start to finish, with the deer loin a particular stand out dish. The service was impeccable and they even gave me a surprise birthday dessert. Make sure you book well in advance...of your trip though, it really is that popularMore

The hostess seated us at a lovely window table, and our server provided knowledgeable and helpful guidance with food and wine. We both had beef, and it was superb. Altogether a lovely dinner and a great way to spend an evening before tackling the Milford...Track!More

Delicious Food. Friendly & Helpful Staff. There are specials, as well as what's on the menu. Please book a table as it gets very full. Also a fine place for sunset by the lake

This has always been a marquee place for a great dining experience during our routine visits to QT. Sadly, that has apparently come to an end. Such a disappointment, especially considering the prices that now seem aimed at foreign tourists who are unaware of what...the place used to be. Steak sauces cost extra (unlike the other premier steakhouse in the CBD) and the onion rings - which used to be a must-have side - looked and tasted as if there were pre-bought frozen rings, only deep fried in house. Nothing like what you would expect from a quality steakhouse. I could go on, but I think the photo of the $14.95NZD onion rings will say enough. Granted, the steak was quite tasty, but everything felt designed to wring as much money out of the diner as possible.More

Good food and good service and right on the water. We had filets, scallops, French fries and Hawke’s Bay Cabernet. All delicious. Afterwards fun to walk around the water to see all the activity. Highly recommend.

This Queenstown favourite never fails to deliver, the food is so so good, the service professional and friendly. It’s worth the walk upstairs to check out the wine cellar and the lounge with soft furnishings and open fire. The Lamb shoulder and Duck Fat potatoes...are to die for.More
