A group of 6 of us were recommended to try Cody’s if we were feeling up for Chinese food by our guide. We were glad we took his advice. Had a really nice dinner on a cold and windy day. We had the spicy and...sour soup as well as the wanton soup and both soups served to whet our appetite for the subsequent dishes we had ordered. All in the the food was delicious and authentic and service was good although they were busy. Glad we had dinner there.More
After several days of eating freeze dried food during a seven day hike, we decided to eat Chinese for our evening in Queenstown. Our local friend suggested that we go to Cody's and we entered the restaurant at the same time as a busload of...Chinese tourists. I noted that we were the only non Chinese people in the restaurant - usually a very good sign.
We we were seated in less than a minute in a separate area, given a jug of iced water and glasses and a menu to consider our options.
We were amazed to see how efficiently the 'bus' tourists received their meal and were fed. After a short wait we submitted our orders and received our meals a reasonably - short time afterwards.
The meals were very well cooked and we specifically commented on the freshness and delicate flavour of the vegetables when the Chef enquired if our food was according to our expectations. The soups ordered as an entree were tasty and plentiful. But I've never tasted finer cauliflower and broccoli in a curry than at Cody's.
We also felt that the price was very reasonable for food that seemed to be clearly freshly prepared in the kitchen. We certainly will be back next time we are in Queenstown.More
We decided to treat ourselves and dine at Cody's to try the fresh Paua and Crayfish, we had seen in the window. The experience was well worth the price, the kids got to watch as they selected our fresh produce from the tank, which was...then weighted to ensure we were happy with the price. We also orded Jellyfish, Rice, Steamed Vegetables and Sweet and Sour Pork for good measure as there was five of us. We all throughly enjoyed the blends of flavors and textures these dishes offered. Service was friendly and helpful they explained the dishes and options for cooking and came over on a number of occasions to ensure we were happy with our meal. We didn't order drinks but were more than happy with the cold jug of water they brought for the table and refreshed throughout the meal. Decor was Chinese style and clean. We will definitely be back! Well worth it.More
Beautiful seafood, they have got fish tanks for you to choose your own seafood. Crayfish, oysters, abalones, all live living in the tank. We’ve had the crayfish sashimi it was great, due to budget, we’ve ordered a slightly larger crayfish and have the tail sashimi(raw)...and the head in salt and pepper deep fried.
They also serve expensive wines and Chinese “whisky”, couldn’t afford it, but if your budget allows, they have Maotai Penfold and wine from local winery, we end up having some house Pinot noir, cheaper that way.
And we tried their scampi as well, they told me it’s the largest in the market, it taste really good raw.
