Going into level 3 also meant it was my husbands birthday. All he wanted was flame. Miss 8 year old was also waiting she ate 2 quarters and wanted more the next day. Mushroom sauce must get at least 4 for 3 people no sharing (don't make that mistake of getting one sauce to share). so happy y9our back!!

We visited here twice whilst in Queenstown. 1st visit we had the Steak and ribs combo which was amazing! Defiantly recommend this.
2nd time we tried the meat platter for two, I would not recommend this. Stick to steak and ribs, the platter was average at best - steak way too fatty and we upgraded, ribs weren’t proper and the server forgot to bring our veg!

It is surprising how hard it is to find lamb chops on a menu in New Zealand. Most restaurants offer some type of lamb (there are 60 million sheep in the country) but not lamb chops. The Flame had them and they were great. We sat in a glass enclosed balcony overlooking the harbor. We start with green lipped New Zealand mussels in sour cream and dill sauce served with toasted bread. Very tasty. We also enjoy a grilled rib eye steak served with steamed small redskins with sour cream. But the lamb chops were the best. They told us there were three to an order but they turned out to be double chops so we really got six. Outstanding food and we were very full. Only negative was that they charged extra for a little sauce for the steak.

Fine if you want a well-oiled, pricey, money-making machine but they’re more interested in money than keeping customers happy. They squash you at tables that are too small (during COVID L2), give you a time limit to eat and charge if you want to take a birthday cake. I wouldn’t recommend it if it’s a special occasion.

We were a group of 4 who arrived right when they opened for lunch and we ordered within 10 minutes. We were one of the first people there however sat there and waited for 49 minutes and watched multiple people (some in bigger groups of 5+) arrive and receive their meals before we did. We’d asked two different waiters for an update on our food and were told that our food was delayed due to ordering steak, but 49 minutes to cook a medium rare steak? Just doesn’t add up. The sirloin and rib eye steaks were nice but not worth the price. The mushroom sauce had no flavour. Rating is for overall experience but service in particular. Entire menu seems over priced to be honest. Would rather go to a restaurant like Captains.

I have looked into this, we had quite a busy start to our lunch service on the day you dined. However I have searched the transactions for this service and our till shows that you paid an hour after entering the restaurant.
There are items on our menu that come out quicker than others, it depends what the order is for the whole table on how quickly we can get the food out to you.

Visited Flame with my partner and her parents who are visiting from the Uk. We have been before and were expecting top quality food. Once again we were blown away with the chicken wings for starter, sirloin steaks and fillet steaks for mains all cooked medium rare with mushroom sauce. All cooked to perfection and full of flavour and without a doubt out of all the places we have eaten in New Zealand were the best steaks we have ever had. The only downside is the time limit of your booking that slightly spoils the experience as you feel ushered out of the restaurant.

Fantastic evening meal at Flame. We hadn’t booked but were met with a great welcome - they were busy so we sat at the bar to eat (next to the kitchen) - a fascinating place to sit and eat.The whole environment is friendly and staff are really respectful of each other as well as the customers. The barman was excellent, the head chef was awesome and the servers were brilliant ... oh and the food was excellent with huge portions! Would highly recommend for a great relaxed meal in a fab atmosphere.

The Flame restaurant is located in the middle of the tourist section of Queenstown and is easy to find. Seating is on two stories. Reservations are recommended but we went earlier in the evening and got seated on the second level without delay, although by the time we left most of the tables were occupied. Service was excellent. I asked the waiter to recommend a local beer and I was very satisfied with his recommendation. I ordered the Mozambique chicken burger with a salad. The salad was huge and contained a nice variety of local vegetables. The sandwich was also large and very tasteful and spicy with an outstanding sauce. My wife ordered the skewered lamb and french fries. The presentation was amazing and my wife really enjoyed the flavorful lamb. We shared the fries, which were very tasty and plentiful. We both felt very satisfied with our meals and would definitely eat there again.

After reading all the great reviews, my friend and I headed to Flame to get ribs tonight. We were disappointed: the sauce wasn't that flavorful, there was less meat than I'd expect, and quite a lot of fat. As someone who's from the Southern US, I have high standards for ribs, but I've had better ribs at Applebee's. Also, they have an annoying 'one meal per person' policy, so my friend and I were forced to buy an appetizer in order to split a rack of ribs. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Had dinner late evening and chose to sit inside rather than on the balcony.
I had lamb cutlets and my wife had tenderloin steak. They both came with baby roast potatoes and we ordered a side of roasted vegetables.
All the food was great and our waiter (Kyle) gave us friendly service which helped make it a great evening out.
Best to book but people were just rolling up and the wait did not seem too long.

We had spotted a menu board for Flame in a nearby arcade, thought it looked good and expected the restaurant to be there, but it wasn't. Eventually we found it and the entrance, not easy with all the roadworks in the centre of town at present. That was the only ropey bit of our visit.
We were seated in the garden area which has lovely ambience with hanging plants and great views out of all the windows. Service was good considering they were busy (Labour Day).
I had the lamb skewer - wow what a dish with the lamb chunks hanging from a skewer suspended over the plate. I got the waitress to remove the chunks and the hanging mechanism as I knew I would have an accident with it! The lamb was absolutely delicious, so tender. I would definitely have that again. Our son had the eye fillet and his was also really really good. My husband had the mussels as a main course - the mussels were small but lots of them and he rated it excellent. Unfortunately the Flambe baked Alaska was off the menu, so I had the Butterscotch Date Pudding which was really good, our son had the interesting chocolate sphere which he enjoyed, and my husband a good Irish coffee.
Of course being a public holiday there was a 15% surcharge on everything, but we had gone anticipating it. We all agreed we would definitely go back there again for a special meal.

My friend and myself both ordered vegetarian meals, much to the amusement of those around us seeing as it is a steak restaurant! The food was delicious. The restaurant was quite full so we were seated at the bar with a very friendly barman so we had a great experience. The cocktails were delicious.

Ordered online for delivery. Something is wrong with the website and said it could be delivered at 2:20 when they only open at 4:30. They apologised and delivered ASAP. They added an extra sauce and a complimentary cheesy garlic loaf and the guy on the front desk came with the delivery driver to personally deliver the food. Situation rescued and totally hasn’t put me off ordering again. Could have been totally different if it wasn’t for the great staff. Thanks again

The food here was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere in the restaurant was lively and there was a beautiful view of the wharf.
The steak was really delicious and lived up to it's reputation. On top of that, we got the ribs which were melt in your mouth tasty and the sauce was perfect for ribs. The seafood chowder and Caesar salad were amazing as well.
Highly recommend dining here for those looking to treat themselves!

We came to Flame for a dinner on a Monday night after a friend recommended the place. It was fantastic - great location, great service - especially our waiter Charlie who was very friendly and attentive, and the food was very tasty. We ordered the mixed grill platter as well as some green vegetables and for dessert had the cheesecake. I couldn't fault any of it. Will be back.
