This small Indian restaurant is an absolute find. At a very reasonable price range for Queenstown, the food was full of great flavours and the service was first class. We had the murg chettinad and handi gosht, plus a vegetable dish and a naan; it...was all divine. We definitely over-ordered. Went here because of good reviews and we were not disappointed. Tucked away on Beach Street, service is great and food even better. Had the Maacher Jhol ( Bengali fish curry) and the Handi Gosht (Lamb Potato and Cardamon Curry). Recommend both. Only minor gripe...is it would be good if the mark up on the bottled wine was marginally lower.More

The food, the service and ambiance was fantastic. Our waiter offered recommendations to complement what we ordered and everything tasted delicious. We had a lovely view over the park and water area of Queenstown without the exorbitant prices. Highly recommend for a delicious Indian meal.

This venue was listed on our accom's recommended list so we gave it a go. Was expecting a larger restaurant but as it turned out the size allowed for a more attentive occasion. Certainly pleased we went, amazing service from all the staff, great thorough...explanation of dishes, and the food was delicious. The wine list was well priced (not the usual 500% Queenstown mark-up!) and well thought out. Food pricing a bit up there, but well worth it. I cannot recommend any particular dish because, unlike a lot of similar restaurants, the menu hasn't been overly "Kiwi-ised" and I don't remember the names! But as stated, the team are very happy to explain the dishes. In town for 6 nights, ate out 4 of them and The Taj is our fave. Would definitely return.More

The dinner at Taj was the highlight of our last night in Queenstown. All the 6 main dishes we had were exquisite. Each staff encountered was very nice and helpful. Food and service both were top notch. We ordered lamb sank and murg Tikka makhanwala which were absolutely delicious. The hospitality by Rahul worth highlighting, For great service and great care of us and ensured we had a good time. Definitely worth going back.
