Myself and my mom travelled from Ireland to New Zealand and were recommended to visit this restaurant. I will gladly pass on that recommendation and say that if you are around Arrowtown or Queenstown that this is a must We visited in the height of winter and still sat outdoors beside the fire in the winter sun Leo and Sam both served us and were exceptionally helpful and welcoming. From recommending wines and dishes, to taking pictures for us and chatting throughout. We started with a margarita and coconut margarita which were so refreshing! The food was out of this world. We shared the free range friend chicken and can both agree it was one of the best satay chicken dishes we have tasted anywhere in the world. For the main we shared the braised beef short ribs which fell off the bone... we also ordered the honey roasted carrots (as pretty as a picture and the twice cooked southland potato's which were so tasty and paired with homemade chipotle mayo! Each dish had their house wines paired and recommended. We tried the Sauvignon blanc and the pinot noir. If we had room in the suitcases we would have taken a bottle of each. The artisan platter looked amazing. If we ever make a trip back it will be on the cards. The entire experience from food, wine, atmosphere and service was top class and a memory we will cherish Thanks so much!

We visited Mora Wines on the 7th October 2023 with a group of friends to celebrate a 50th birthday We had amazing service from all staff . We did a wine tasting with Walker and purchased several wines to drink on the day and also to ship home to Australia. The food was delicious we opted for the chefs selection which included lamb and salmon ,it makes me salivate as I’m writing this review . The service was fantastic . My husband and I returned for lunch on the 13th October 2023 this time we opted for the short beef ribs ,potatoes ,green beans and zucchini .The serves are generous portions. We were served by the lovely Sarah who once again made us feel very welcome We chose our favourite wine Mora -Pinot Gris Bannockburn easy drinking ,then did another tasting with Vicky before purchasing several wines to ship home. This is definitely my favourite place to eat on the South Island and we did travel around several areas . Highly recommend Mora wines as your go to place ,great for a large group or a romantic lunch for two -arrived home on the 14th October back to Sydney and Miss Mora already Can’t wait to go back . Stunning garden atmosphere and comfortable surroundings Thank you Mora wines ❤️🍷 Shelly and Darren (Camden NSW)

I last went to Mora when it was Akarua and for my most recent trip to Queenstown with girlfriends I made sure Mora was on the list! We had brunch in the restaurant and the seared halloumi with bacon added was one of the best things I ate throughout the weekend. Great service and a delicious mimosa topped it off. Once we had brunch we moved over to the cellar door to meet Vicky for a booked wine tasting. We stayed much longer than we were meant to ok sure but Vicky was such a breath of fresh air. She asked about our likes and dislikes to judge what our palettes might be like. I’m not a big white wine drinker and I explained to Vicky that they all seem to strip the moisture from my mouth but I was willing to be surprised. Surprised I was! Vicky brought out some great wines and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with Mora and Vicky! Next time you’re in Queenstown do yourself a favour, book a brunch and a wine tasting with Vicky - I highly recommend it.

The family's holiday lunch at Mora restaurant began with delightful dining moments and a pleasant atmosphere. While enjoying several glasses of wine, we relished a delicious spread, including a salmon and antipasto platter. The presentation was splendid, and the flavours were exceptional. However, upon entering, we were disappointed when the male staff at Mora guided us to an unpopular shaded seat. It was a day enveloped in comfortable spring weather with mild sunlight, and the reserved seats were not fully occupied; our fellow Caucasian diners who arrived after us had the freedom to choose their seats and most of them were directed to the centre of the premises. Although I managed to request a change from a female staff member and was accommodated in a different seat, observing the same treatment given to an Asian group that arrived later made it clear that his actions were intentional rather than coincidental. This left us with a profound sense of disappointment.

Hi there, thank you for your feedback , great to hear you enjoyed your food and I am glad you were moved to a nice sunny table! thats great as the weather has been amazing! With tables often some tables that are available may be booked for later. We always try to put everyone where they would like to go, as best we can/ With regards to the server (the only male we have), I would have to say here that is not at all how he works. He is a true professional, fair and a very nice person, so the last thing he ever do, would be to do anything intentional like that and for him seeing this was very hurtful. He is far from that person and would never treat anyone different than the other. I employ only good people and people I trust.that will deliver the care I do. Im afraid in this instance you have red that wrong. Aside that great to hear the food & seating was good :)

We pre booked a table this morning and after an hr of waiting for our cocktails and food ( we had a bottle of wine ) we went up and asked and they had forgotten to put it through, we needed to leave so didn’t ask for the food to be put through. The staff didn’t acknowledge our food had been forgotten and we paid for our drinks, minus the cocktail and food. So we never ate or were offered a discount for the muck up or an apology for booking and not getting our food. Would love to try it, as looked amazing from a far. Original waitress was really sweet :)

We started with a wine tasting with Walker, who was fantastic. Super knowledgeable and welcoming. When he heard it was my birthday he ensured to give us a glass of bubbles to celebrate. For lunch we did the trust the chef option which gave us a range of amazing dishes - couldn’t choose our favourites as they were all delicious!

Our family of six had a fabulous lunch at Mora Wines during our recent visit to Queenstown. After a hectic morning on the Shotover Jet and visiting Arrowtown, we enjoyed a relaxing, lunch in the beautiful outdoor garden setting. Three of us enjoyed the outstanding 12 hour slow cooked lamb shoulder with the best crunchy baked potatoes as a side. My coeliac husband thoroughly enjoyed his Seafood Chowder, but he also got to taste the lamb, potatoes and chips too as they were all gluten free, how remarkable! Another stand out was the kids menu, the best for variety and not your usual deep-fried fare. Our granddaughter loved her tasting plate and grandson the ham & cheese toasties, wish there were more menus like this for kids. All enjoyed with a bottle of Pinot Noir. Perfection.

Enjoyed a fun and informative wine tasting session with Vicki (Vicki’s such a down-to-earth person and made us feel welcome/comfortable and her passion for Mora wines showed through – they really are delicious). Following that we enjoyed a long lunch in restaurant – seated in marquee on a lovely winter’s day was magic – staff were professional, food was delicious accompanied by amazing wine. Highly recommend both the tasting followed by lunch at this wonderful vineyard.

Very lovely cottage in Arrowtown with beautiful gardens which have cherry blossoms blooming in Spring. All the staff are welcoming and offer exceptional service. Every dish was perfection from the delicious bread with the best truffle butter I've ever tasted to the melt in your mouth scallop ceviche. The Cedar Wood Mt Cook Salmon was superbly cooked. Each wine was paired well with our meal. Highly recommend a visit to Mora and taking home some bottles of wine from their excellent vineyard.

We have visited Akarua on a number of occasions and it has previously been our favourite Queenstown restaurant. It is a lovely setting near Arrowtown. Dropping in currently doesn't go well; we understand that providing an extra lunch is difficult but a mulled wine ( or even a bottled refreshment) and a scone ( from under the dome at the counter) while we sit and wait in a far away corner doesn't seem to be available. Yes staff are short but we are the NZ customers who also would come and lunch at another time and spend a significant amount. The adult offspring booked and had a lunch -reported pleasant but not outstanding food.

We have visited Mora under its previous name many times, and were delighted that the food and service levels remained very high. In the past, sometimes the wait between ordering and getting the food could be quite long, but they were really well organised, and the experience was excellent. You do need to book in peak season, but that is only to be expected. On a fine day the tables outside under the trees are just lovely.

We tried to walk in on Saturday around 10am but were told that they were booked out with nothing available until Monday and that we should book ahead online. That afternoon we went to book for the following week but found that there were spaces available the next day so we booked for 10:30. When we arrived we noticed that there was at least 3 empty table. Odd that we were told that nothing was available and that they were booked out. The coffee and hot chocolate were both very good. The apple cider sausages all tasted very nice but we would have liked the sausages cooked a little more and the agria rosti was very oily. The waffles were nice and fluffy but the blueberry mascarpone was bland and really could have been left off the dish. As there were 3 waffles it would have been nice to have 3 pieces of banana and we couldn't tell if there was any Canadian maple on the plate or not. The dried blueberries were a nice touch. All in all, a nice meal but not exceptional.

We returned for another lovely meal. They didn’t disappoint, everything was delicious. The refined presentation makes the eyes as well as the pallet pleased. The only disappointment was a $12 charge for sparkling water. When asked which we preferred, still or sparkling, when seated, we hadn’t realized they charged as other higher quality restaurants seem to make that offering all inclusive. Friendly staff indeed.

We went out for breakfast on a special occasion for us. All the staff made us feel very special as it appears they do to all customers. I had the salmon cakes and my wife the waffles. I can’t really do them justice they were both stunning dishes, and as a breakfast we felt a reasonable price as well. Certainly if you’re in the area I can’t recommend Mora highly enough. We’ve had lunch here a couple of times but this is the first breakfast, we will certainly be back. Tomorrow perhaps!

We had a delicious lunch mid week in July, seated in an enclosed marquee with heating and blankets. So very comfortable . We had the prawns for entree and salmon for the main . The carrots and brussel sprout Caesar salad . The bread was warm and crusty … service was excellent . The only surprising thing was the price of the wine . We ordered their reserve Pinot ( lovely ) but later found out the cellar door price was nearly half that paid at their restaurant . We felt The mark up was unusually high for a winery restaurant. Still we recommend a visit there but do book ahead
