Perfect spot to eat. With the window seats/table nice lookout over lake Wakatipu. The venison was very delicious and medium rare as it is supposed to be, however, the vegetables were so little, that was not worth the procent. The fries hot and good and...enough for two. The main surprise came with the bill: the prices in the menu card (and on display outside) are without tax! So instead of a medium priced restaurant it turned out to be an expensive one. Also the water, for free everywhere you come in NZ, was 14 dollar without tax, that is!More

The steak was cooked to perfection, the waiter was amazing and cheerful and the bar staff were a hoot! We are definitely going there again!

Food was delicious and came out nice and hot. My partner and I were quite a young couple so we got forgotten about in our opinion when it came to service. We had to ask to have our plates taken away after our entree and...to have more water poured. We also only got asked once throughout the whole night if ‘everything was okay’. Noa was our waitress and she was great. I had the chowder and my partner had steak. The chowder was delicious but I only had 2 prawns and 2 mussels with the white fish. My partner asked for some mustard, we were charged $5 for...this! I have never been charged for mustard/ketchup/mayonnaise when requested with a meal, ever. I feel this should have been explained to us on ordering the mustard especially as this is a grille restaurant which serves a lot of meat for which mustard is a standard accompaniment! The wine is expensive, we bought a bottle for $115 which retails at $38 - a pretty big mark-up, better value for money wine options would have been appreciated. The restaurant location and decor is lovely and we did enjoy our meal. In Australia where we are from, and I believe the same is the case in NZ, tipping is not expected. So on paying Aus $258 for two meals, two sides, no starters or dessert, one cocktail, a bottle wine (and the mustard!), I was taken aback to be challenged by the person at the till as to what was wrong with the service as I wasn’t leaving a tip. It was an awkward moment, which put a dampener on the evening.More

The grill room is located in a beautiful spot right by the lake. We had the salmon to start and it was a wonderful light entree. For the main we shared the lamb shoulder with buttery mash and finished with the meringue desert. The margaritas...were excellent and the meal was accompanied with a lovely NZ pinot noir, Mollino. The service dropped off a little towards the end of the meal. We would recommend this restaurant on any visit to Queenstown.More

I felt really let down by this place after reading so many great reviews. We were immediately welcomed and seated at our table which was in the far corner at the back of the restaurant, despite there being plenty of other free tables closer to...the front. We thought maybe the other tables were reserved but in the 2 hours that we were there, the tables remained empty and we remained in the far corner near the service area. They certainly know how to make you feel welcomed. Our waiter was really good and was more than happy to chat and recommend a few dishes. We took him up on his recommendations and ordered the Brie to share which was amazing. Definitely the highlight. The rest of the food was pretty poor from then on. The two 200g wagyu eye fillet steaks that we ordered were completely different sizes and definitely not wagyu quality. It’s like one was 150g and the other 200g. It’s like the chefs couldn’t see that they didn’t look right. We made note of it to the staff and to the manager and they also mentioned the two different sizes but no offer of a replacement, which was a shame. The shoulder of lamb was probably the worse lamb shoulder I’ve eaten. Slow roasted lamb is supposed to fall apart and be tender. This lamb was over cooked, extremely fatty and very very dry. A real disappointment. If you’re going to be a Grill restaurant then you really need to do better with your meats. Great location, friendly waiter but food was a real let down and nothing like being shoved in a corner to make you feel welcome. If you read this and are wondering where to eat. For the price, eat elsewhere.More

I went to the grille to celebrate with friends. The service and atmosphere was amazing! For sure it is a nice restaurant. However the food is just ordinary. Wasn’t bad but wasn’t good.

The view, the knowledge staff, the food, the wine, the service is top! Our party of 4 had a lovely time. I had the legendary seafood chowder as a main and a glass of Gewürztraminer. Both were super yummy, and filling. I should have had...the entree version of the chowder so I could have fitted in a dessert. All our group enjoyed our meals.More

Heard good things about this place. We ordered the Oysters, Seafood Cowder, Baked Brie, Steak and some sides. Everything was top quality, the baked brie was amazing with fresh toasted bread. Steak was cooked perfectly. Service was great. Definitely recommend this place to a couple...or a group booking.More
