This is part of the authentic Queenstown experience, and the food lives up to the expectation. There was definitely a queue around 10:30 PM, while the inside dining area and outdoor seating were both full to capacity. Only their Chicken and Beef burgers are Halal, and you need to inform the order taker that you require Halal Burgers. Ordered the Ferg Deluxe Burger, which was pretty big in size, very flavorful, and fresh Their service was pretty fast, yet we had to wait slightly longer for the Halal Burgers. A staff member walks next to the queue handing out menus as well as answering queries of customers lined up and waiting to place order.
Super nice, friendly, and helpful staff contribute towards making the experience even more better.

There seems to be an endless hipe and line of hungry customers for these 'famous' burgers. The line snakes down the street past the Fergs bakery and icecream parlor with a Fergs bar on the other side.
There is a helpful staff member giving out menus so you can decide what to order in an attempt to prevent delays at the ordering counter. Some seating is available inside & out as well as a kerbside bench for those waiting for their order.
The burger menu is quite extensive and we had the Southern Swine which was big enough to share. The tip is to go early or before the lunch & dinner rush to avoid the long wait. Is it worth the wait? . Well, that depends on how much you love a genuine burger made with fresh produce and you want to satisfy your curiosity. We did enjoy ours despite the price.

This place is busy but we didn't feel we really waited any longer for our order than we would have at a busy sit down restaurant. We tried burgers from here twice during our holiday. All the burgers were fantastic quality. They are very generous in sizing and pricing is very much on par with any other burger place. Would certainly visit there again!

My significant other and I were informed at our hotel in Auckland that when we traveled to Queenstown, we HAD to eat at Fergburger so, based on their ravings and the local hype, felt we should give it a try. The wait was about 25 to 30 minutes, and the price of the burger was moderately expensive. There were people pushing to get their food and when we finally got a bench to eat this mediocre overhyped average quality burger, we felt pressured to eat fast due to the crowds standing and waiting for our "seats". We also had average quality onion rings and water to drink. I would have to fairly say the quality is only fair, the frustration of hovering in the poorly designed and very limited eating space detracts from the eating experience, and the overall satisfaction is subpar. There are a peloria of other superior quality hamburger establishments from which to choose that present much more sufficient space in which to eat, so I can only advise "to avoid this one" and spend your time and money at a place with better quality and at a less expensive price.

Not going to lie, not sure what the rave is all about. I do love a good cheeseburger and thinking I may have ordered wrong. A local told me I had to go here and it is definitely worth the wait. The line to order took 15-20 minutes, but was moving relatively quickly for the number of folks in line. Staff hand out menus and answer questions while waiting, so you're ready to go when it's time to order. Afterwards, you exit the building and wait another 15 minutes or so until your order number shows ready on the screen.
I ordered the Codfather vs. a traditional cheeseburger (maybe that’s where I went wrong) – but I was told the South Island is also known for Blue Cod so thought I’d check two boxes off my list in one. The sandwich was good, but I would not wait in line for that long and would not order it again. Can’t speak to the fries or any other sides. The bun is VERY big, kind of crispy or toasted and has sesame seeds. I added cheese to my sandwich for an additional $2.50 The portion is huge and could be split unless you have a huge appetite.
While standing in line, I asked a few of the employees what their favorites are and they both independently told me similar options: (1) Ferg Deluxe for a burger (2) Cockadoodle Oink for chicken. Yet I went with the fish. lol
There is a Bakery and a bar next door. I believe they are owned by the same company, but they have separate entrances and you do not need to wait in the long line for those two options.
Overall, it was just okay in my opinion. If I were here for a long time, I'd try it again with a burger option since that is what people rave about.

The food was OK (many better burgers elsewhere) but was let down by bad front of house systems. The takeaway numbers on the board and online apparently ‘don’t work sometimes’ so we patiently waited ages, only to have them pack our forgotten order from the oven warmer. It was all sadly soggy and one burger had fallen apart in its wrapping - not uncommon now that I’ve read some of their google reviews. Really really not worth it.

Since I was staying in Queenstown, I researched the location in advance. I could tell right away that this was the only place with a long line when I passed in front of it on a tour bus. I read in reviews that you don't have to wait that long, so I trusted and lined up.
As expected of New Zealand, a safe place. I made it to the register without any stress. Even though I didn't speak English, the female staff was very kind, even in the middle of a busy crowd. I was worried about whether I could order properly, but they confirmed it with me in Japanese (I was grateful that they listened to my request to cut one burger in half without a single complaint). The restaurant is small, but I was able to eat at the counter, probably because it is a custom to give up your seat after finishing your meal without lingering. The price is a little high, but that's because of the weak yen. If you think that you can only come here once in your life, it will be a good memory. Not only the hamburger but also the hot calamari rings were delicious. If I had been hungry, I would have liked to try another burger.

Words can’t describe how GOOD this burger was, it’s like BurgerFuel but on steroids. The chips was alright not the greatest but it’s called FergBurger not FergChips for a reason. Would highly recommend to try it’s worth the wait (The line moves very quickly and it takes about 10 - 15 minutes for your food to be ready)

Line looks long huts moves pretty quick. Once order is placed, it's usually a 10-15 minute wait for the burger. The burgers we had (Ferg Deluxe and Southern Swine) were all delicious. CNN and LA Times both have reports of it being 'the best burger place in the world'. I'd definitely say that it was best in NZ and amongst the top you'd find in the world. This does of course depend on your likings of food. I'd say this is an iconic thing to do in Queenstown if you get the chance.

First let me say that if you are reading this, you have either already been or will be going regardless of what you read below, which is certainly understandable. Food is always a difficult one because people’s tastes and preferences are vastly different. Equally, I would note that my general experience in eating in New Zealand over two weeks was average at best. The overall quality to me was lacking and proper seasoning and spices were rather non-existent.
Regardless, I mention this only because it is my personal opinion that if you are comparing the restaurants in New Zealand they must be compared against others in New Zealand. We strategically waited to mid afternoon so as to minimize the line here and there was only a small line, which was a good start.
We kept it simple and ordered the double cheese burger and found a couple seats inside. Within 15 minutes we had our food and we’re excited as a friend who had visited several years ago told us that she had gone 5 times while in Queenstown! The burger was easily among the worst I have ever had, in fact, I stopped eating after 2-3 bites as I couldn’t continue. The fries were equally average. Amazingly nothing tasted fresh and it felt like a frozen burger. It was frankly shocking as even an average burger would still be good. Obviously this was only my experience and I would encourage everything to find out for themselves, but I cannot possibly recommend this place.

There's a lot of hype about Fergburger and our experience there didn't disappoint. The restaurant is amazingly popular, but we were happy to join the queue which was full of different nationalities from around the world. In reality the queue moved quickly and we were served within 15/20 minutes. There are seats to eat outside and if you're lucky you might get one. The range of burgers were fantastic with lots of variety and they were extremely tasty and enjoyable. The onion rings were great too! For superb value for money this is an experience in NZ you shouldn't miss out on.

On our first day, we noticed the long queues at Ferg Burger and thought it must be worth the hype. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to our expectations. The burger itself was nothing special—bland, overpriced, and underwhelming. The sides we ordered were equally disappointing. Honestly, we’ve had better-tasting burgers at Burger King, which is not only more affordable but far superior in quality. Overall, Ferg Burger is overrated, and we wouldn’t recommend it. Sorry, but we expected much more.

The long queues are off-putting so either call in your order or try going early or at off peak times (I popped in at 10.45 am). The burgers were good value for they were hefty and packed, and there was a good variety available. We enjoyed the pork belly and lamb burger. Fries were fantastic with a variety of dipping sauces but good on their own. Was looking forward to the onion rings but they were not on the menu when I went. The burgers are worth a try.

I had heard a lot about Fergburger and was keenly looking forward to having burgers on my trip to Queenstown. After having them (Cajun and Bombay), I can say the reputation of the burger is well earned! Ferburger ranks at the top and super special for me because Anna Madigan (Group Operations Manager) went out of the way to ensure that I have the burgers - because I developed severe bad back pain while in Queenstown and I could not stand in the long que to buy the burgers because of the pain. I wrote to Fergburger online (not expecting a reply) describing my situation and Anna responded saying that she will arrange for me to pick up without me having to que up. Anna did this on 2 occasions and I cannot thank her enough for this generosity and goodwill. It is important that we acknowledge this heart warming acts of service from Fergburger. To me, this is unparalleled and a big thanks to Fergburger and Anna.

We were passing by and saw a long line of people. Therefore we decided to give it a try. The place is small, there aren’t many places to sit. If you are lucky tho, you might find a little spot, if not you might eat wherever you find a place. Moreover, as there are lots of people in line, you might have to wait a little bit. One more thing they do to cut the waiting, is that you can order your burger by phone and then go pick it up. There’s also an app/ link that tells you when your order is ready. If instead, like us, you are around there and go directly to order your burger, don’t worry, the service is pretty fast. As I said, if you are lucky, while you are waiting for your burger you might also find a spot to sit.
Anyway, final conclusion. The burgers were good, almost. We ordered Sweet Bamby and Ferg DLX. We loved the latter more. Sweet bamby was ok, but there wasn’t a strong taste to it, to make it memorable. It’s personal taste and opinion tho.
Very last thing, I’d suggest to the Ferg team to introduce and app. That could be helpful to place orders online and pick it up. I’m sure the phone works fine, anyway, it’s just a suggestion.
