Not much beats sitting down to a delicious meal amidst the World Heritage Wonder that is Milford Sound. With a menu inspired by the famous Fiordland landscapes we’re surrounded by, Milford Sound’s Pio Pio Cafe is one incredible ‘Must-do’ NZ dining experience. Our all-day menu includes guest favourites like local venison tenderloin or Stewart Island salmon. Fully licensed & open 7 days.

Fantastic meal

I was staying at the lodge so decided to have dinner there as well and I was not disappointed. I thought they had a good selection of meals to choose from and there drinks menu was good as well. The service was very good and efficient. I really enjoyed each of the dishes I had, they were a good portion size, very well presented and tasted very good. I have to say this just added to an excellent stay at the lodge

Excellent Food

Had an excellent meal at Pio Pizza Cafe tonight after a day exploring Milford Sound. Bit pricey but the food was exceptional. Seafood chowder was lovely for an entrée and hubby had goats cheese which was beautiful and creamey. Had venison for main and I don't think I have had better. Cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. Other main of pork belly also perfect. Desert of chocolate mouse and cheesecake didn't disappoint although make sure you are a hard core chocolate lover if you order the mouse. Limited menu but given the location some solid choices.

Lovely, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Food was absolutely delicious and locally sourced. Good NZ wine list too. Very accommodating with food intolerances/allergies. We went here both nights that we stayed at the lodge for dinner, as well as having one or two coffees from the kiosk.

Poi Poi is 5⭐️ restaurant

Had dinner at Poi Poi restaurant at Milford Sound Lodge on both our nights there. Exquisite menu show casing NZ produce and also pairing same with amazing NZ wines The mushroom and blue cheese soup was best soup I've ever eaten ( I will be trying to find/make receipe on artivsl home it was that good) and the venison was cooked to perfection Beautiful ambiance in restaurant with stunning views of snow capped peaks. Don't miss out, book your dinner reservation before you arrive. Best meal on South Island in 10 days and we've had some fantastic ones

Exquisite!

Everything was exceptional! The service, the food & the location. Vegan friendly, they did some amazing vegan food for me, while my partner enjoyed the meat dishes. Some of the best restaurant food we have ever had. Highly recommend & suggest to book well in advance through the peak season.

We ended up at the cafe largely by accident and would have expected high prices, but they were surprisingly reasonable. We had the wedges with chilli dip and sour cream dip. If we were staying it would have been a nice place to have a few beers, but alas I had to drive back to Te Anau, so had a nice cup of tea. Nice helpful receptionist and wait staff.

Food at The End of the World

Surprisingly large choice of food available at only place to eat in Milford Sound. Food had great quality and decent quantity. We enjoyed lentil soup, ham and cheese panini, roast beef toastie, pork pie, hot chips and chocolate cake. All were good. The hot chips were exceptional.

It Don't Get No Better Than This!

Located near the terminus of one of the greatest road trips in the world, inside the unassuming Milford Sound Lodge, Pio Pio is one of the finest restaurants in New Zealand. Staffed by an eclectic collection of adventurers, Pio Pio offers exceptional flavors complimented by strange combinations that result in an exquisite presentation. I had the lamb one night and the duck a 2nd night. Both were superb. I wish I had taken a photo of the menu so that I could share the level of care in the preparation. This would be a Michelin-rated restaurant if it only weren't so remote. But discovering such a find, in a place so wild and remote as Milford Sound, is like discovering gold.

First class cuisine

I visted here on the first night of a campervan trip around the South Island. We stayed at the Milford Lodge adjacent to the restaurant. Booked 2 hours in advance and the room was busy but not crowded. The food is magnificent, first class ingredients served by friendly staff. Not in any way pretentious just extremly well presented food in a casual setting. Prices are as you would expect for this standard of cooking but not outrageous.

Delicious venison , green lip mussels, blue cod and lamb dishes, paired with excellent NZ wines …. Definitely worth at least a Michelin Bib gourmand rate!! Very good service , compliments to the Chef and the service team

Oh wow!

Oh wow! We were staying at the lodge and booked in for dinner. What a treat. I ordered pork belly, hubby had the venison. We also ordered potatoes and cauliflower to share. I can’t say a bad thing about anything we ordered. I had wanted a dessert but was just too full to manage it. The staff were bubbly and friendly.

even it's the only place at Milford Sound, it's very recommendale to eat there. We ate the venison, and it was amazing. Great athmosphere and service. The bers are very good. It's quite expensive, but the quality per price is good.

Gourmet treat with breathtaking view, nothing compares.

My husband and I treated ourselves to a meal here. After a day out on the cruise, what better way to top off the day then a delicious meal. The food was just so well prepared, and fresh. I tried the pudding which was sticky date pudding I think, so good, with fresh ice cream. The vegetarian option was the best....Great staff.

SMART AND SLOW

Wow. Lovely location. But. But. So so slow. Service, water, service, water. 1 hour and all we had was wine and half a glass of water Nice setting Staff obviously all back packers with no sense of customer service or time Enjoy the rooms and bring your own sandwiches

One of the best restaurants in new Zealand

The best dinner we had in New Zealand. The elk and venison meat were on point. The vegan plate was breathtaking. I would go again to Milford sound not to see the sound itself but just to it here again.
