Average food, I’ve enjoyed this place in the past but never had the scallops, I suggest you don’t. Service ok we did make the most of the courtesy coach. Three stars as I don’t know how to give 2.5.

Great value for money. Big portions and food is fresh. Meals are really yum and the atmosphere is friendly.

Staff were friendly, helpful, welcoming and accommodating as we had 7 small children with us. Really value the family friendly atmosphere. Food was amazing. Front desk and wait staff were seriously the best.

We went for a family meal and found the service very poor. The drinks were slow coming, 1 main meal of blue cod easiest cooked meal was forgotten came out when most were close to finishing. Dessert took for ever to come out. Food was...nice but average and not easy to enjoy when your elderly mother is waiting for her meal to come. Not sure I would go back.More

We had our wedding reception here and we could not have asked for a better venue, easy to deal with, very friendly staff, nothing was an issue and the food was absolutely amazing. Will be returning for our future events.

We come to the Cabbage Tree often enough to know if they're having an off day. When we arrived we stood there for a hot minute waiting to be seated when there were 2 staff members sitting at a table across the bar, after we...were seated we weren't offered any drinks and we ended up ordering promptly tacking our drink order on the end of our meal order. I ordered a Coke Zero and my mother ordered a Sprite, when the drinks came the waiter brought out 2 Cokes. We're both too polite to say anything... after waiting a good half hour for our meals the waiter messed up my order and bought out something completely different, I told him what I had actually ordered and he went back to the kitchen and apologised saying it would be 5 minutes. So I sat there waiting for my meal while my mum ate her soup like fettucine, when my meal finally arrived my mother had nearly finished. Slightly disappointing that we weren't even offered a discount for the complete mess-around... can't say I'll be coming back to my beloved Cabbage Tree for a while, on the bright side the Onion Rings were fantastic (but how hard can that be to mess up?)More

Looking forward to evening dinner in the garden bar on a beautiful Invercargill evening. Unfortunately the experience was just average. Ushered to our table, given a jug of water and no glasses. Then drinks order taken and only 1 drink delivered and after 25 minutes...had to ask for other. Entrées arrived and not cutlery. Had to get our own cutlery, napkins and salt and pepper from elsewhere. Ordered Seafood Chodwer and only warm and had a skim on the top. Mains were delivered and 2nd round of drinks ordered. Were half thru meals and had to go to bar to get own drinks. At least mains were to satisfaction. On leaving apologies from staff and discounts on bill. Not up to usual standard I expect from The Cabbage Tree Restaurant. Staff were courteous and friendly. Large crowd in adjacent Hall so could have extended staff limits????More

Been here a few times over the years but on the 14th Nov we used this venue for our wedding ceremony and reception. I don't give 5 stars to anything other than 'exceptional'. On this occassion and for this event the Cabbage Tree was exceptional....Nick (owner) and his staff were nothing sort of exceptional. Cost wise they were absolute good value for money especially given the quotes we were given from other venues. In organising the event including use of the function hall, the garden/lawn area, the food , setup etc and everything that was involved - we couldn't have asked for better. Most obliging , accommodating and flexible to all or plans and the few changes we made. Nick and his staff were most astute and professional and I would highly recommend this venue for any function in the future. Big thumbs up to his staff on the night as well as Nick himself. Very much appreciated. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐More

Booked a large group for a special birthday lunch and was given a private side room which was nice. Service was great, staff were attentive and friendly, enjoyed the aesthetics of the restaurant. Varied feedback from the group about the food, portions were generous, I...had pork belly which was nice but a bit dry and not tender. The guests who ordered fish/seafood said it was very overcooked and they didn't believe it was the Blue cod they ordered. The burgers looked nice and OMG the beer battered fries were the best I have ever tasted! Overall pretty good and I will dine here again.More

A great dinner experience for Tash and I on my birthday. Great food selection with a good wine list and fast, friendly service. The ribeye was perfect as were the vegetables, fresh and steamed. Tash did the Thai Prawn which was cooked to her exact...request. Dessert was again well presented and complemented by a good Port and a first class coffee. We will return.More

I don't know where they get their steaks from sorry. I'm just a diner there not the owner.
