Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Start off by saying I'm from the Seattle area, home of Starbucks. Came because it is the southern most Starbucks which is why it is still open. Bought several tumblers, they had not Invercargill or Southern most ...cups, had them for Sidney and other towns though?Drink order took forever to get and the place wasn't busy. Drinks were not the best. The staff was nice but seemed unorganized. Did not take Starbucks card or the app.

Good coffee and friendly staff, Starbucks is in a convenient location as well right in the middle of the city.

Have had Starbucks all around the world and the coffee here (was a latte) was not even average at best. Don’t know how they made it, but not good. On a brighter side, the food was very nice

Bought a caramel latte for myself and hot choc for my mum. Plus a lemon custard filled donut. Hot choc was warm/cold. Caramel latte was warm and tasteless. Like drinking a cup of warm dirty milk. 🤢 Lemon donut was stale. Took coffee and half donut back. Was offered another one - um no thanks. No refund offered. Won’t be going back. 👎

First time ever in a Starbucks, dirty un wiped tables , aggressive and abrupt serving style. Seems and feels like the place where hospitality went to die. Nothing worse than being treated like an idiot by a snappy 20 something. Thanks but no thanks. Zero rating. Average coffee.

Worst cup of coffee I had in NZ. Depressing interior with patched chairs and dirty floors. Despite it being late morning toilets had not been cleaned from day before as evidenced by a very full paper basket. Staff pleasant but overall No!!

Got a coffee from there this morning and the coffee shot was burnt. It was so bitter and gross. Had one sip and threw it out. Definitely not worth the money I paid.

Was starved for a good coffee after a few nights of instant coffees in motel rooms. Super friendly staff, no problems, standard Starbucks coffees.

Came all the way here just for the check in and photos. It was quite busy during noon time. Took awhile for the drink to arrive. Clean environment with nice ambiance and friendly staff.

10 people in the queue, 1 member of staff taking orders and money, 1 member of staff round the back, 1 member of staff tidying shelves. Noone making coffee! Waited ages for service which was only when it suited them. Croissant was very dry, probably yesterdays. Awful place.

As a European used to our or American coffee, Starbucks is the safest option in NZ to have something of the same reliable quality. You may like it or not but it's just like the one we get in Europe/US. I found the coffee quality at local NZ coffee shops to be widely different, some good, some not, but at least with Starbucks you know where you are.

We were really excited to visit this Starbucks, since it is the Southern most Starbucks in the world! But were a bit disappointed, because they got our order completely wrong (how does a Chai Tea Latte turn into a Cappucino?) and were not very friendly at all. Wouldn't recommend, sorry.

We were happy to stumble across Starbucks here on NZ "Labour Day" when most local coffee joints were closed. The store was typical, but not ordinary, given its location further south than any other Starbucks in the world, making it a pair to the northern counterpart in Fairbanks, Alaska. We didn't know any of this until we walked in to grab a couple flat whites and some biscotti to go, for our train ride back to Dunedin. It was a kick to find ourselves here, quite unexpectedly. The place was understandably crowded, pleasantly buzzing with people enjoying time off on a beautiful day (sunny and 21C/70F). Some took their food and drink outside, sitting anywhere they could just to enjoy the rays, but most indoor seats were filled. Given the press of holiday business, things were not what you would call spotlessly clean or orderly. But there was a pleasant vibe, and the folks here seemed to be enjoying themselves. It's easy to criticize international chains, especially when held against locally beloved watering holes. But those establishments were closed, and they tend to be open fewer hours. As international travelers, we are always grateful to find a friendly reception and a decent cup of coffee at one of Starbucks' 27,000+ coffeehouses around the world, now including Invercargill at the very bottom of New Zealand's South Island. Who knew?! Just wish they had a nice souvenir cup to take home.

I don’t normally rate Starbucks highly - some personal feeling about large corporations vs the little business. However this evening we arrive in Invercargill hungry after a long drive, and Starbucks is an obvious point of call - and about the only place open! The lass on duty is so kind and friendly, and we finish up with our coffee and eats in front of a cheerful gas fire. The personal touch makes such a difference!
