Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After completing parkrun in Queen’s Park, we headed to the Cheeky Llama for breakfast and coffee. The food was delicious and the coffee excellent. In fact, we doubled up on coffee. Simple fare done well.

The only thing going for the Cheeky Llama was its location in the centre of Queens Park. The food offering was limited and not that great. Not sure there were too many better options for lunch but try elsewhere.

We had to line up to order no table service for bookings. My sister in law left one order of by mistake. When the meals come out my Auntys meal did not come it was forgotten so my sister in law went up to order...the forgotten meal. Thinking they would understand we did not mind to wait a wee while.she went up later to see how much longer with a response of another 15 mins We had all finished and was still waiting 56 minutes later for it come out to late we ask for a take away container. Our whole lunch was spoiled having Aunty sitting watching every one eat I had a word to the manager no sorry in fact he said that’s how it is if you forget some thing of your Oder you have to the back of the line he was arrogant . All my family had come in to spend the day with there 88 year old mother. The Cheeky Llarma was the topic of conversation. They all said they had not seen such poor service. This is the second time this sort of thing has happened there. It was one of my faverate cafes no longer. Not sure how long the owners have had it but it used to be pleasant for a cafe. Yes they were busy, so was last week 6 of us were there the week before it was busy nice day the park is always busy. The service was not the best then either but Mum loves the park. They also use cheap white bread. On all there orders. They are licensed so it makes it a restaurant..More

Stopped in to buy an ice cream but when found out what the price was went out & bought one at another shop. I don't mind paying a bit more at a place like this but hate being ripped off

What a fantastic cafe! Wonderful service from very friendly staff. We loved the salmon quiche that we had for lunch. This was beautifully presented when served with a salad salad and drizzled basaltic. All for a very reasonable price . Definitely to be recommended.

I believe this restaurant has recently changed hands and the standard of food has seriously slipped. Went in at morning tea time expecting to have a drink and perhaps a sandwich only to be told we no longer make sandwiches. Because there was nothing savoury...in the cabinet I decided due to lack of selection I would have eggs benedict. What a terrible choice I made, the eggs were virtually hard boiled and there was an extremely scant amount of hollandaise sauce making the meal so dry to eat. Perhaps the chef needs to visit other cafes etc to see how eggs benedict should be cooked and served.More

Fantastic service and staff, the wedges were absolutely the best I’ve ever had. Mostly child friendly, especially with the playground right outside the window.

Stopped in for morning coffee. The coffee was very good, the sticky lemon slice was very tasty and the staff were friendly and efficient.

I walked by the cafe on a Saturday morning earlier this month and noticed it was packed. I looped back around a couple hours later after exploring Queens Park and it was a bit less busy. The food was served quickly, and the service staff...was quite friendly. I'll definitely be back the next time I visit Invercargill.More

We stopped for a cup of tea while walking around Queens Park. We also had a piece of carrot cake which was very nice. The tea was served in nice old-fashioned tea cups/saucers with a teapot. The cafe was warm and cosy with lovely big...windows looking out over the park and playground. Would recommend.More

Brunch at the Cheeky Llama. We had the Big breakfast and Corn Fritters. Set in the Queenspark Gardens, the Cheeky Llama offer a good range of Brunch options. Would recommended this place as a great option to avoid the crowded cafes in town.

Of all the cafes I’ve visited in the last year this would have to be the worst. Absolutely no smiles or welcomes here. The coffee was undrinkable and tasted like they forgot to put coffee in it. The soft poached eggs were actually hard boiled,...the bacon was stone cold and the toast was awful. The only good things to say was the beautiful location amidst a gorgeous park and the high speed free WiFi. Hard to believe that any customer would ever return here.More

Pretty decent cafe nestled within Queens Park. Good to have a hot drink whilst being immersed in nature. The Caramel Slice was nice and the Chai Latte charming. The only thing to improve upon would be to reduce the amount of cinnamon powder on top...of the Chai Latte by about 75%. When I went to take my first sip of the latte, I inhaled a lung full of cinnamon powder and spent the next 5 minutes coughing sporadically. Fortunately the headline did not read 'Death by Cinnamon'...More

Get out and stretch your legs or just admire the beauty of the grounds...what fun. A golf course and a frisbee course is included in its perimeter if you are so inclined. Lovely place and a must see while in Invercargill.
