Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had lunch here and the menu selection is just lovely. The mushroom dish I had was delicious and beautifully presented. The waitresses were all very pleasant and efficient which also makes a huge difference. There is a yummy selection of cabinet foods too and...we were spoilt for choice for a sweet to have with our coffees.More

I cannot imagine anyone giving a rating less than 5 for this quaint restaurant. Our breakfast was the best we have had in a long time. The ciabatta bread with delicious butter, eggs served on fresh spinach, and a cast iron omelette all exceeded expectations....Friendly staff, beautiful old building, decent price - what is there not to love? Highly recommend.More

We really enjoyed this cafe during our tour of Dunedin’s eateries. The interior was superb with a wide range of seating arrangements. Very casual and relaxed vibe. There are some limited outdoor options. The coffee was great and the food superb. A huge pizza oven...made outstanding pizzas and sandwiches. Like many cafes in Dunedin the prices seemed to be a few dollars too high. Given the overall cheaper cost of living I could not work out why. Should be cheaper the Auckland but seems not!!More

We came here for breakfast on a weekend away with our 2yo. The atmosphere is very cool, friendly staff, good service and good food, but probably not child friendly unless you are bringing your own entertainment. A review had said there was a basket of...toys for kids, hence us coming unprepared, but sadly there wasn’t anything we could see or were offered. A few toys/books or some colouring would make a big difference here for families but I can completely understand toddlers aren’t their target market! We would come back if in the area without our little one though.More

Great potential and obviously a popular place for brunch on a Saturday. Staff whilst friendly and engaging at times have the impression of being overwhelmed. Kudos to the wait staff who had to juggle meals and drinks upstairs. Food wise my local chip expert and...partner rated the chips a solid 5 and their own meals the same. I had the chowder and must admit I set a high bar for this dish after the Crab Shack in Wellington. This offering was sold as a creamy chowder and it lived up the name. Just a bit to creamy and could have been strained a bit more. Discovery of the lemon hidden under the lip of the soup bowl before I finished would have helped zing it up … but alas I didn’t see it till finished. Decor was great and a good vibe. Definitely go there… and use the lemon of your creamy chowder too creamy!More

We arrived close to kitchen closing time and were greeted with a lovely smile and warm attitude. They did let us know the main kitchen would be closing in 10 minutes. We were offered a menu and felt no pressure to rush our order. The...food came quickly which was great. The staff delivered it quickly with an easy relaxed smile. The tastes were phenomenal. Mouth watering flavours and smells. The pizza could have been hotter but we did not really give it a chance to get too cold before it was gone. The fries were crunchy and tasty. We had the Broadway wood fired pizza and would recommend the flavour! The staff were friendly and looked like they were enjoying their jobs. Staff interacted with customers and ensured all was well. The atmosphere was dark, but warm and cosy even at near closing time. We would recommend a visit.More

Ordered a traditional hot breakfast dish( eggs, bacon, sausage, tomatos etc). The food arrived surprising quickly, which I quickly reasoned was because it seemed to have been plated from food under hot plates.. the back. Was over cooked and tasteless. The sausages Indifferent. A fascinating...building. Go to other cafes in the area for decent food.More

I came in for a couple of take away coffees at 8:15, on website it said it was open. They had about 10 people on. I walked in and wanted and the staff said they were not open until 8:30. They could have made a...couple of coffees but instead they turned me away. Maybe they didn’t want my business?More

Kind service, vegan sandwich and pizza were amazing. The portions are large. Sunday was busy and we were informed in advance that it would take some time but it was worth the wait

An excellent place for breakfast. The espresso is smooth and roasted to the point just before it becomes bitter. An industrial space with excellent service. Strongly recommended.

After an absence of 3-4 years, it was great to get back to Vogel St Kitchen - and the brunch did not disappoint! All five of us had big plates, and felt very well-fed; the food is all fresh, plus coffee is first class. Staff...were super-efficient and friendly/patient with some elder members of our group. Thanks all - hope it won't be so many years till we meet/dine again!More

We had Brunch at Vogel Street Kitchen last week and really enjoyed the gluten-free options. When taking our order they even asked whether the gluten-free meal has to be celiac safe. Had a great time. Hoping to return some day.
