Lovely meal with a lot of fish! Tasty and generous sides. Don't be put off by their Old tables and chairs, they are comfortable.

This is a good place for a reasonably priced plentiful dinner. The food is varied and tasty. Lots to look at around the restaurant too. We would go again
Good service, pleasant staff and excellent fishes! We had the coco kingfish and the gurnard in kelp crust. Amazing + good portions. Cauliflower gratin was excellent as well.
Delicious food - to start we had paua fritters and ceviche. Mains were pork and clams and fish pie. All delicious - the sauce on the pork and clams was sooo good. Generous portions (I couldn't eat all of mine) and very pleasant staff. If...you like seafood don't miss this restaurant.More
The focus in this restaurant is on seafood and they do a great job with it. The menu is interesting and a little inventive and there is a good range of options. The wine list complements the menu and the staff are attentive. Decor is...eccentric and a great conversation starter as you recognise pieces of crockery and knick knacks that remember from your past The only niggle is that the location is very hard to find, hidden under an overpass and cycle bridge. Better signage so that those from out of town can find it would be great.More
We really enjoyed our meal here. The choice of fish was pretty broad, and they were prepared in innovative ways. The French/NZ gentleman who looked after us on the night could not have been more helpful, including very good advice on how visitors to Dunedin...might best spend their time. Highly recommended.More
These people know all about flavour. The service is both friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.
The location is peculiar, the interior is very peculiar! But the food is very good. We had seafood and fish - and the 4 different courses we tried were all superb. I had my best fish in NZ (after 4 weeks). So this restaurant is...absolutely worth a visit.More
Don’t underestimate this little gem. Food was divine and exceptional service from the staff. Definitely will be back!!!
I was with a group of seven and, to a person, we had a delicious dinner. I had gurnard with spring onions, ginger and garlic oil. A very generous serving and could not be faulted. Recommend absolutely.
My wife and I were visiting from out of town. Once you get a park on Robert's street the alleyway is easy to find. Definitely will be back. Service is impeccable! Knowledgeable waitstaff . We both had an interesting version of "surf and turf", pork...steak with small clams. Entree of paua patties was delicious, dessert of creme brulee with small berries and bruschetta was excellent. We were walkins but seats we're found, it pays to book though. A little gem!More
Nigel and his team are fantastic, the 'food is the star' and the people who serve it are gracious, well informed and friendly. We all ordered the Kingfish, it was magnificent, the fish was fresh, the sauces were taste sensations that did not overpower the...fish. My colleague turned and said to me 'I have just returned from Melbourne and we did not eat anything as good as this'. The menu and staff service are excellent.More
We chose Plato based on reviews and when we drove up, we didn’t think we were in the right place… it is difficult to see from the side street where you park. It’s also off the path as it’s not near the city centre. That...said, go find it because the fish preparation is outstanding. We enjoyed every dish that came to the table from the oysters to ceviche, and the elephant shark and blue cod. Portions are huge and definitely can be shared. Friendly wait staff also helped make for a great evening!More
GREAT service. Our server even made us a martini - which has been very hard to find in New Zealand. KUDOS!!! Food was delicious. Interesting menu. And did I mention the great service? The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. Nice chatter but not noisy. Don't...miss Plato!!!More
We went 6pm for dinner. Had nice bread chutney feta olive starter. Lovely but needed 2 more bits of bread with it to go with chutneys. Main Had a lemon butter salmon with rice and advocado salad cauliflower gratin extra side. Meal lovely but one...green in the salad very chewy. Maybe be a silverbeet not sure. Pork Rib. Served on a very oily garlic sauce with rings of potatoes. The pork was lovely and well presented but sauce to garlicky for us. Staff were great and helpfull. We didn't stay for dessert as the place was very cold The fire wasn't on and just a very small heater going.More
