This place never fails to impress. Great atmosphere, excellent food always beautifully cooked and always a bit different. Best service, relaxed but always professional. It’s a must do for dinner in Dunedin.

Quirky eclectic surroundings. Waiter was lovely and efficient. Food portions were big and rustic. Was a bit expensive.

We asked about gluten free when we sat down but then got so excited about the menu forgot to specify gf for hubby when we ordered. Realised we got non-gf dish when it arrived but it looked so good I said I would have it...alongside my order. They quickly got hubby the gf version. When we left they totally refused to let us pay for the extra dish. Amazing. The dish was the whole flounder in caper and butter sauce. Sensational. My other dish was the kingfish special of the day with a berry sauce. Very good dish. But to be honest, the flounder was the star and I would have happily paid for it twice. Highly recommend Plato for menu, decor and terrific staff.More

These meals are huge and far too big to eat but they are very yummy and enjoyable. Great friendly staff who are very helpful. If you like big meals then go here.

What a fantastic find! We both think this is the best fish restaurant we’ve ever eaten at. The paua fritters were a great introduction to my novice pallet. Followed by seared tuna and kingfish. The rice and dressings were an excellent complement to the perfectly...cooked fish. Great service and cool, quirky decor! Bare in mind, this is a fish restaurant; so maybe not so suitable for vegetarians/vegans!More

Cannot fault our meal here, Ok the retro feel of the place is a bit quirky, but the service and meals were spot on. Our group had no intention of having dessert after the fabulous mains, but we couldn’t resist, and didn’t regret our decision....One of the best meals we’ve had in some time, top marks.More

A hidden gem. Great seafood, very generous potions and a decor from yesteryear. Enjoyed our meal, enjoyed the service. Definitely not 5 star or silver service but great food served with a genuine smile, no hesitation in going back next time in Dunedin
