Friendly and helpful staff. What a great venue. Good vibe. The drinks were good and the food options also looked good.

Welcoming pub with a friendly attitude, great beer and good food. I had the squid and my son had the haggish. After trying a couple of beers I settled for a golden ale, a lovely mellow but still hoppy choice.
Great little bar, a rare find it seems in this town. Cosy and historic space. Outside pavement seating. Good range of wines and ales.
Four of us went to the Albar. The food and drinks were varied and will appeal to people of all ages and both sexes. We had tapas food which was well presented and tasty; for beer drinkers you won’t be disappointed because there was a...More
Compact, alive, excellent selection of drinks of all kinds. Awesome background music to add to the atmosphere. Lovely eats. Staff and Owners are friendly and helpful. It's like a local pub in the Country but centred in the City....everyone is greeted on a personal basis...More
Albar is always a pleasant bar to visit, whether having a coffee at the tables out the front in the midday sun or settling in for a few pints with friends on a Saturday evening. Good beers - including hand-pulled ales - and whiskies are...More
Nice pub on the centrally located Stuart Street, seconds down from the Octagon. Friendly staff, nice range of beers.
The Albar is a Dunedin icon. It's a local's whiskey bar with a Celtic heritage, but is welcoming to visitors. The bar food includes mussel pots, and these would have to be the highlight and are a fantastic accompaniment to the tasting of whiskies and...More
We popped in for an early evening drink before dinner and could've easily stayed longer. The selection was impressive for a small place. Tried some craft beers recommended by the barman and we were not disappointed. It was lovely and warm inside and obviously popular.
Love going here when we get the chance, great selection of beers and a good atmosphere, tasty tapas also with a good mix of people. Just off the octagon and not as hectic as other bars in the area
