Not everyone wants a sweet muffin but very little else on offer. I decided on a cheese roll and if it had been that all may have been well. But, it wasn't. Service was terrible. We waited 25 minutes for two flat whites. The staff were unfriendly and unapologetic for the wait.

Visited for a late lunch on a Thursday during the school holidays - The staff obviously didn't want to be there, were completely uninterested and not welcoming at all - They were more interested in having a chat amongst themselves and a colleague on their...laptop at the bar. We had a table in the back for a graduation celebration. Atmosphere was OK, service was good (drinks were replenished regularly), but where this place really stood out was value for money and great food. I had the onion rings and filo chicken (normally comes...with kumara chips, but they were out and we got potato). The side salad had beetroot and nice dressing. The filo parcel was huge, with lots of camembert and flavour. I ordered via Uber. I ordered the chicken fill and stuffed chicken. The restaurant called and told me they ran out of fill so I chose the stuffed chicken. The stuffed chicken was phenomenal. On the other hand the chicken ceaser salad was atrocious it...was a entire serving size despite being a main. I’m sure they were probably just having a bad day but I won’t be returning for time. This used to be my favourite place for a good hearty meal, with great service and amazing deserts, now decidedly Meh, service was slow and confused, food was of a lesser quality then previously, and the deserts are a far inferior to what they used...to be, their homemade cheesecake used to be amazing, now decidedly tastes like a processed one. The service was very poor. The staff had to be prompted to take our orders for drinks & food. Coffee was ordered at 7:30 but we were told the machine had been shut down for the night. When we visit Dunedin we always come here for their giant size muffins. Last night we had a First Table experience and we had the egg soufflé. It was amazing so we went back today for morning tea and dinner again tonight to have a...Burger. The Black Dog burger is award winning. It was so tender, a huge succulent beef pattie with bacon. At first we ordered onion rings and stuffed mushrooms and received the wrong order, for mains we then got the garlic ribeye with vegetables and the veggie burger. The steak was lukewarm and chewy, didn’t look like it had been grilled and tasted of freezer...burn. The vegetables were definitely microwaved. Not enough chips for the price we payed too.More
