Well worth the drive to this little gem. Brilliant atmosphere in this cosy little pub. The welcome from the staff was good old fashioned hospitality. Food was exceptional. Have the seafood platter!
Great food, service and atmosphere. I had the sea food platter and my husband had the ploughmans. Both delicious! Dessert was a sticky Ginger cake with caramel sauce and ice cream, I had the kids Sunday ❣️
From beginning to end an excellent experience. Service is great, food is very well cooked with flavours blended well, seafood is fresh, setting is lovely. And, the price is reasonable for the quality. Had a great evening.
We were a group of six for lunch. The only booking we could get was 1-30pm but that was OK. The restored building is lovely, We had been there a few months ago for drinks and wanted to support them by visiting for a meal...now that we are allowed too.
We were looking forward to all seafood especially the Chowder. Opps ! Chowder is off. We tried several dishes, none were inspired , all were small servings. Then we came to desert, items such as pavlova were off as well. The food is bland and expensive. When I came to pay the bill, $349. Enough to be paying for a disappointing lunch, I had to pay a surcharge because I paid with Visa. Every other Restaurant charges fees included . Unfortunately this restaurant is going to loose support unless they stop taking their reputation for granted.
Really Sad. Service was friendly, we watched and tables were definitely not disinfected between customer groups.More
Visited Dunedin to enjoy an evening with a valued lady friend. The food was top rate. The service impeccable. They did their utmost to please us. Great view. Will go down as my best memory of eating out. L
Very welcoming staff, they lit the fire today which made it very comfortable, and cosy. We had the large seafood platter, ohmigoodness the ika mata is exceptional (better than mine!), perfectly cooked fish, mussels, oysters, queen clams, clams loved, loved topped off with an organic...tumeric carrot juice. Will def return..More
My husband and I rang and booked table at last minute and booking was accepted. We arrived in this beautiful restored building to find an amazing place, Our waiter was very polite and considerate and gave us table with easy access. The Menu was another...surprise. The extensive menu was everything and more . We ordered to share an entree, squid with salt and pepper. It was delicious, melted in the mouth. My husband ordered for main course seafood bowl and i ordered the traditional fish and chips in batter. What a size the dishes were and tasted fantastic, Fresh fish delicious batter . My husband exclaimed that he had not tasted such fresh seafood and scallops ever in NZ We must thank all the staff and the chef. Will be backMore
Very nice staff, nothing too much trouble. This was our first visit here and we were offered a choice of seating indoors or outdoors, and shown around so we could choose. Excellent seafood.
took 20 minutes to take a drinks order then other 10 to take meals order. By this time it was 40 minutes before getting starter, no one asked if meal was OK,no asked if we wanted another drink. Service was very bad, food was average....When we went to pay what a surprise 5 service workers to busy behind the bar gossiping. Thank God we had a voucher.More

Hi Laura,
Not from the main train station in Dunedin city but it is walking distance from the port where the train stops on cruise ship days. Are you coming in on a cruise ship?
