I ordered fish and chips here (for take out.) Only waited about 10 minutes. The blue cod was so fresh it just melted in my mouth! The chips were nothing special but who cares when the fish is that delicious!
Two couples ordered fish and chips last night and were very disappointed. The chips were tasteless and not well cooked. The lemon sole fish was average and while the blue cod was slightly better for $9.50 for one piece we expected greater things. Will not...be returning which is a shame as this is one of the only local options around.More
I liked the options on the menu and that fact that you salt your own chips. This place isn't cheap and for that I expected amazing cod. It wasn't. I suspect it wasn't the freshest and the chips were fine. W would not recommend or...return which is a pity as the owner is very nice and clearly hard working.More
I love blue cod and chips as a treat. Fish has to be cooked perfectly and batter lovely and crisp, not soggy. Ric's fish and chips were perfection. I could smell the ocean when I bit into the lovely fresh fish, and the chips were...crunchy, a perfect portion. The meal doesn't come salted you help yourself to sachets of salt and do it yourself. We sat by the water and opened our parcels and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Oh, and you also get a wedge of lemon to squeeze on your fish. Enjoy!More
Best fries we've had in New Zealand. Portions were HUGE for a mere $3.00. 2 portions and you could more than feed a whole family. Cooked to perfection and delicious. If you are staying at the Portobello Tourist park, it's just a walk away. Treat...yourself.More
Stylish, is because they open only from 5:30pm to 7-ish. I would say the fish is fair, but chips is good. Chef does not add any salt to the chips and so you can consider how salty you want. However as it is a MTO...and take-away shop, once the food are wrapped for a while, it is hard to find back the crispy feel which is what I expect to have.More
