Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had read reviews saying Vic’s was overrated but we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast there on a Sunday morning. My daughter and I both had the poached eggs with spinach. I had mine with sourdough toast. The meals arrived quickly, even though the place was...busy. There are plenty of places to sit. The visitor ratio moves quickly, and there is the option of sitting outside if the weather is fine, I had a Chai latte. my daughter had coffee to accompany our meal. I am quite fussy about my food, but this place did not disappoint. Quite a few people bought breads and other bakery items only so don’t be put off by how busy the place appears. The staff serve promptly. Would definitely recommend.More

This café is always full. The menu is limited but the food is very good. The service is good too. You can order fresh sandwiches to your liking if you fill in an order form. It felt like Subway to me so I tore my...form up. Taking into account that Victoria St is on the edge of the central city and there’s an equally good ( though loftily named ) Procope over the road, the consistently full café is a safe bet. The cabinet food could be a lot better. The lentil pies are excellent.More

A popular spot but they do take reservations. The breads and pastries are baked fresh. The menu is limited but most palates and diets can find something, including vegetarian and vegan. Parking is street parking but there are lots nearby and it is walking distance...to the Mayfair Hotel. Most everything was good it I did find the bagels a little chewy. Seating is a little confusing as they put the reserved signs out with the time it is reserved for, you can sit at the table so long as you are gone before the reservation and leave them enough time to clean up before the reserved party arrives.More

Love the coffee at vics. Bread is also delicious. We got eggs montreal and eggs were perfect. Gluten free options for most menu items. Nice and sunny outside.

Last time I went to vics was about 5 years ago. Very nice experience. This time not so much. Staying in town so gave it a go early Sunday morning. Walked in, surly reception - not a hint of a smile from the guy behind...the till making coffees who spent the 40 mins we were there doing his best not to engage with anyone who spoke to him... I said " Hi!!" again...Sit down. I'll take your order. 15 minutes later I went upto the till to order as no chance he looked like coming over. Young lady standing there in her outside jacket, yawning and rubbing her eyes constantly...Everything seemed to take an age to order as she was still asleep...Food arrived quickly. Freshly squeezed orange juice was excellent. Toasted ciabatta bread was a bit on the too toasted side for the other half but I get 'toast' is subjective. The poached eggs were however - crap. No idea how a kitchen who makes 100's of these a day can still overcook them to look hard boiled - no joke. So her poached eggs on toast and my eggs benedict weren't so great. Coffee was good.More
