I very much enjoyed my visit here. Our waiter was Bueno and he was fantastic. Food was great and service even better. All the waiters joined in on singing my cousin happy birthday and created a great atmosphere. We were a group of 11 and they dealt with the large numbers very well. Bueno was very attentive and handled food allergies very well by checking if I was coeliac. My younger sister accidentally broke a glass while we were there and they were so nice about it. They even gave her a complementary drink so she wouldn’t feel bad about it! All the staff were very nice and joked around with us and made everyone feel very comfortable there and like we were part of the family. Overall a lovely experience and I would highly recommend it. Bueno deserves a pay raise!!

Excellent meal

Two couples went last evening and the food was exceptionally good. Two had scrummy pizza, and two had regular mains that were awesome. They could cater well for DF/GF needs also with GF pasta and pizza bases. Best thing was it was only $90 per couple and that included a bottle of wine we all shared.

Great Ravioli

12 of us visited Tutto Bene on a Saturday night and the food and service was excellent. We three platter entree to share to kick off the evening. The individually ordered mains were varied off the menu as the dining group was large and definately no complaints. The two Raviola dishes in particular were tasty as! Good stuff! Desserts were great. Great service. Good wine list particularly the focus on Italian wines. Free parking very close buy. The Merivale location offers plenty of close buy bars for pre-dinner drinks. :-)

“Late night dining” – well it’s late by Christchurch standards

An excellent meal in one of the few decent restaurants in Christchurch which will serve food after 9pm. This Italian restaurant in Merivale – a suburb of Christchurch – has the advantage of serving food until a later hour than most other restaurants we have so far found in Christchurch. The one disadvantage is that it is very noisy. Groups of locals tend to be noisy anyway (no offence intended) and the main dining area in this restaurant is in a room with a high ceiling, providing a lot of echo. There are some tables at the front of the restaurant which might provide a quieter location and I would choose to eat there if we return. Without that noise level I would have avoided another star. The menu has a good selection of pizzas and pastas as well as a few salads and main courses (which appear to be rather expensive as compared to the rest).

Very poor pasta

My wife and I visited this Restaurant last week The meal was ok apart from 2 things. My wife ordered the seafood fettucine special from the board and it was terrible, chewy seafood, watery and with no flavor. We did mention this to the wait staff at the time but they seemed disinterested and a little rude that we dared to complain. Also the arancini balls that have been on the menu for years have shrink in size (but obviously not in price) to now be only a couple of mouthfuls. This is a real shame as they are very good but now not worth getting for the price. Will only go again for the delicious lemon tart

Comments have been passed on to the kitchen. We need to talk about the Arancini... You are correct: customers wanted them smaller and more delicate so we upped the number on the plate to compensate. As they say....size isn't everything.

Tops for Quantity but Low on Quality

We arrived at 5:30 pm for dinner and although the restaurant was near empty we were allotted the smallest possible corner table in the room. This, however was quickly remedied when we pointed out that there were many other available choices. The variety and selection of Italian wines were impressive and prices reasonable. The service was crisp and attentive and our glasses were always filled. Our choice of starters were the antipasto misto (very substantial portion but average on quality as most items are available from super market shelves) and a very fresh green salad. We selected the pasta of the day - a vegetarian penne which unfortunately was drowned by the heavy sauce and a risotto which was big to feed a family of four but the ingredients and preparation were sub-standard. In conclusion we would have done much better with a pizza washed down by a good Chianti.

A little piece of Italy in Merivale, exceptional all round and worth a regular trip into town

First visit to Tutto Bene and will not be the last. A 6pm booking on Wednesday evening saw a packed restaurant with happy customers, very friendly staff and a really authentic, buzzy vibe. From a small eating area out front, it opens, Tardis like, into a large rear room, with access to a good sized outdoor area to boot. A large menu with lots to choose from, made deciding difficult. We settled on beef cheek gnocchi and beef ravioli in a creamy mushroom and pepper sauce, with a starter to share of focaccia bruschetta with pesto, burrata and crispy prosciutto. Large enough starters to share and as for mains, the gnocchi was feather light and the ravioli dish was exceptional. Good value, prompt and efficient service, will make the trip into town again happily. Oh and the wine list happens to be very good too!

We were a group of 11 visiting from Auckland & dining on New Years Day. The restaurant was busy but the service was very attentive & we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. A very memorable meal & we will definitely be back when next in Christchurch.

Wonderful Dining Experience

Wonderful atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food! My husband wanted to order a pizza with specific ingredients and Karen said 'absolutely we can make that for you!" She was extremely friendly and when we asked her for visitor information for Auckland she offered ideas and went even further and asked another employee for suggestions. The pizza was delicious and made to order. We highly recommend this restaurant!

A well-cherished dining experience!

My husband and I took my parents and our son out to Tutto Bene to celebrate their 37th wedding anniversary as well as to celebrate our son's 8th birthday. We were well looked after at the restaurant, staff were kind, polite and very welcoming. We were attended to as soon as we arrived and ushered to an outside dining table, while ours was being prepared/vacated. The amibience was warm, friendly and bustling with vibrancy and joy, just wat we were after! It reminded us of times in the past, growing up when we made many memories eating out together as a big, hearty and happy family. What made this an exceptional meal, is the quality of the food and drink coupled with the attention to detail. The owner, I think his name was Luciano, came by our table, to let us know that he checked the pizza that we ordered before it came out and he was not happy with it, as it was a tad burnt on the bottom and so he asked that another one be made to perfection which he would approve of! And so we didn't at all mind waiting for perfection, which the pizza truly was! We'd like to thank Luciano and the chefs and wait staff for an exceptional and much-cherished dining experience!

The food are delicious. The pizza was so nice and so as the fish and pasta! The staff are very warm and friendly, very accommodating. We are a family of six and it was one of my son’s birthday. Then the highlight of our dinner is when they sang happy birthday to my son bringing him a birthday ice cream with a candle to blow and the staff sang him a happy birthday! I would go back her and I would highly recommend this place ! 😊👍🏼

Authentic Italian Cuisine

I was lucky enough to dine here during a weekend getaway and what an absolute delight. From the time we made our booking until the time we finished our meal, the staff made us feel welcome. As well as amazing service the food was exactly what you wanted from an Italian restaurant. Warm, filling and delicious. The restaurants Italian themed decor and the ambience were nothing short of superb. Risotto and parmigiana were the main meal options on the night and they did not disappoint. Portion sizes were good and the flavours of comfort fill your mouth with every bite. The desserts were also presented beautifully and were an adventure from the plate through your palette. If you're in the area and you're looking for Authentic and delicious Italian cuisine you'd be hard pressed to find better.

A nice surprise

When wandering in Merivale towards the end of January, we noticed the open door at Tutto Bene and went in to book for the following night. We had a very nice meal - prosciutto and melon (somewhat underripe), then I had the spinach canolli with tomato and mushrooms then torta al limone. The place was busy, usually a good sign, the food and wine were good, and the ambiance was friendly. A surprising and rewarding visit.

It is one thing to have a great experience at a restaurant, which we did, but so far I have yet to find a local person that will not mention Tutto Bene as a recommended restaurant. I can not think of a higher recommendation than that of the locals recommending a venue. As for our experience; The place was packed, on a week night. Our waiter (Fred, I believe) got us a table and explained the meals in great detail. I had the beef cheek gnocchi and it was amazing! The food options were amazing, with good wine and beer selection. We will go there again, soon. And I am sure that it will be as perfect as last time.

Delicious food with perfect customer service

Great menu with plenty of vegetarian options. Absolutely delicious food - we tried the pizza bread, polenta fries, the mushroom risotto and the cannelloni - all extremely flavourful and cooked to absolute perfection. Every member of the staff we interacted with had a huge smile, were super friendly and lovely to chat with. Highly recommended!
