Ä€ very extensive menu with lots of delicious options. Warm, friendly service and all the sauce you can eat (you help yourself to as many sauces to mix and match to your taste). Don't really need them because the food's delicious anyway but gives you option!

The Welcome Chinese vegetarian cafe was one our family will remember. Vegetarian Chinese food is hard to come by, so that definitely distinguishes this cafe from the rest. The menu was very long and gave lots of options for not just vegetarians, but vegans and people with allergies. The food was amazing and hot. On top of that the atmosphere was cozy and authentic. The waiter was efficient and very fast bringing out our food. 10/10! Would reccomend.

I've been going to Welcome for almost 20(??) years. And it's amazing. Easily my favourite restaurant in New Zealand.
The menu is huge but I must admit that I usually stick to a few favourites because it's a bit overwhelming. I can particularly recommend the Lemon Red Roast Noodle from the Vegan Special menu and the Black Pepper Delight from the main menu. And the cheeky nuggets are crunchy and excellent. The food is a consistent quality.
It's a family run business and they clearly care about the restaurant and food. The family are really friendly and welcoming (apt). The service is great.
I usually get takeout because the restaurant itself isn't terribly atmospheric but it doesn't bother me when I do dine in. But, if you do dine in, don't expect anything fancy. It can be cold in winter and you have to go outside to get to the bathroom.

We were looking to get some vegetables and this spot fit the bill. The menu is unique and everything was good. It is a casual restaurant. We got ramen and lemon eggplant and tofu. We will definitely be back!

Address - welcome Vegetarian Cafe in Christchurch, along Riccarton
Ambiance/Facilities - a little old school ambience.
Highlights - yummy Asian vegetarian food and friendly Asian owner, speaks English, Chinese and Hokkien.
Avg. Price per Person - NZD10-15
Rating - very nice vegetarian food sold in this small little restaurant.
Opening Hours - 12pm - 7pm
for vegetarian who doesn’t consume alliums, this is a must go in Christchurch other than Waterdrop Teahouse at Fo Guang Shan. the restaurant look quite outdated but the food, we were quite taken back by the taste of the food when we first tried. THEY ARE GOOD! and quite value for money as some of the food items actually comes in different portion. do take note that large portion can serve 2-3 people. it won’t cost your pocket too much if you are sharing a large portion.

I love vegetarian options and this chinese based restaraunt did not dissapoint. We had a small group and shared 3 different dishes. Can't wait to go back next time!

The food here is REALLY good.... so many vegan options and a very few options with egg in them... the seitan based meats are a-maz-ing. The reason we don't eat here all the time is the price.... I feel its a bit too expensive for what it is.... $20 for a plate of fried rice is too expensive in my opinion. But I don't think you can find fault with the food.

This is a must go to restaurant in CHCH if you are vegetarian. My all time favorite is their eggplant and tofu hot plate dish! I’ve moved out of NZ 9 years ago but whenever I’m in town I make sure to come and eat here... kids love it too.

I LOVE this place so much, you have to try their cheeky nuggets. Service is awesome, very kind and fun! And food is very reasonably priced. So many amazing dishes no.'s all meinjin dishes are delicious and 42 too! And no. 6 of the vegan special is my favourite absolutely amazing! ahhhh!! I also recommend the banana split. Thank you so much for doing what you guys do!

My partner and I went to the Welcome Vegetarian Cafe for dinner and it was brilliant. We've never been to a veggie place and be so struck with the number of options available. The price was really cheap for the quality of the food. Really quick and friendly service.

Happy to find a place that has both many vegan options and gluten free. We ordered an eggplant tofu dish and a shiitake mushroom dish. You have to order rice also. Very tasty though portions were a bit small. The price was very reasonable. Casual dining. They prefer cash. In a pinch you can use credit card but will add surcharge.

This is a really cute place. Great food, good service, even when we entered 15 mins before closing time. They have us gorgeous service. Loads of options for vegetarians and vegans. Best noodles I’ve had... This is definitely going to be my new takeaway.

All I can say is wow!!
I have been meaning to get to WVC for some time. As a vegan it was like being in heaven the food that we had was hot tasty and well priced. The sweet and sour crispy potato was a straight out 9 the satay rice second equal but the shiitake mushrooms with noodles was the 10 this is my new favourite place to eat.
The tables and chairs look like something out of the 70s but I don’t mind at all.

These guys have the most amazing range of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free food. I have been loads of times and still haven't tried everything! Strongly recommend the deep fried tofu starter and the bamboo nest soup! Amazing value for money - a 4 course meal for $25 with large portions.

We were looking for a place with a good variety of vegetarian options and this was recommended. There were so many choices it took awhile to decide. Neither of us was disappointed and quantity of food was plentiful!
