Dinner the other night was great. We had venison with potatoes and chicken parcel thing. Venison best I have had. Yummy chocolate mouse thing for desert. Service exceptional. The place was buzzing with a nice ambience. We will return.
This was a breakfast celebrating two Birthdays and from our Arrival, the service was very good and the Breakfast menu was a superior effort to others breakfast offerings.
We all ordered the Eggs Benedict, with minor variations added to our meals. For me, extras of...smoked salmon, another mushrooms etc.
Every dish was really delicious, very well cooked and presented. While the servings did not look large, the richness and flavours left us very well satisfied.
We had all travelled across from the other side of town but it was sure worth the effort.
Parking was no problem, the building is spacious with several separated dining areas.
All in all, The Old Vicarage is a top of the range pub with a very nice atmosphere and Staff.
For Me, the only downside was the Coffee was just average for flavour and presentation, not unusual for a Pub but not quite at the same standard as the the great Food.
Do try them as it should be well worth a try.
We will be back again, thank you to the Old Vicarage and well doneMore
Planned a surprise birthday here for my wifes 60th birthday and I just couldn't have been happier with the event. I worked with Kelly to select bar type food and she ensured that I didn't over order which I found refreshing that they were so...upfront. Had an area at the back set up and the event was outstanding with the food and staff making it one to remember.
The only negative was when i went to drop something off at the venue prior to the event the barman who was cutting up lemons behind the bar and looked at me several times ignored me for over 5 minutes and another staff member finally asked me what I needed so this was a real negative before the event even started.More
This is the first time we have visited here since a bad lunch experience a few years ago.
We were seated by a very draughty window and asked to move, which they did without any problems.
We ordered the chicken parcels and an Angus steak...- both very nicely presented and tasty but price wise more expensive than other comparable restaurants. We shared an apple/berry crumble which was okay. The serving was huge and more than enough for three people.
Service was good, Overall an okay evening, but not amazing and quite pricey.More
Friendly service on a busy day, ordered a mocktail bao buns & a fish n chips. Finished with a mint cheesecake of the day. All the food was nice, no wow though. Lovely atmosphere so will give it another try.
Exquisite plant based food, amazing service and great wine list. Had cauliflower bites and the crispy pumpkin and chickpea croquettes which were both excellent. So close to home and didn’t know it was here! Highly recommend-will be back for sure.
The service was appauling, some if the worst I've experienced in Christchurch. The food was mediocre and coffee cold and tasteless. Used to be a great stop some time ago and now I'd not return.
