Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Right on the banks of the Avon and right by the botanic gardens, this historic boat shed is character filled and just oozing with charm. The cafe occupies one end of the old building and the hire boats and punting use the rest. The food...offering is certainly broad enough for most tastes. My eggs Benedict with smoked salmon was great and the coffee excellent, and the service real & friendly. So glad that we found this spot.More

Supposed to be open till 4pm, but after 3:30 they put your food in a paper bag and coffee in takeaway cups. They also charge more for the takeaway coffees. Ordered a small and a large coffee and we were given two small coffees. The...orange and almond slice was $6 for a tiny piece which was just as well because it didn't taste very good. Coffee bitter, service useless - if you must go don't go after 3:30pm because you will be overcharged and treated like a nuisance.More

This place is wonderful! we came here early on Saturday AM prior to a long bus ride. Staff is friendly and helpful, and the breakfast menu is varied. The food was hot, served quickly and delicious. we sat out on the deck so we could...watch the ducks & geese on the river. I highly recommend this place!More

This is a good option for food and coffee if you're staying in hospital taking care of somebody. It's only a short walk away, which is nice. Coffee is fantastic.

Went to have lunch today, asked for what used to be amazing wedges, told don't do them any more. No offer given for alternative (ie fries) so didn't push it. Coffees were bland, food expensive and slice and square size stingy. It is a beautiful...setting which is probably saving the place but it needs revision. A blackboard sign out front says 'customers required!' but on the main door signage saying mask up and sign in. Happily there is still a resident cat.More

We went for breakfast before being taken punting. The menu is down to Earth basic good good. A traditional breakfast. I had the massive vegetarian breakfast and coffee. The coffee, by the way, was excellent. My wife opted for simple eggs on toast. They were...poached to perfection. The atmosphere was glorious. A relaxing view of the river and the ducks waking up in the morning. They are doggy friendly as well as very human friendly.More

Still feeling peckish after Yum Cha lunch.. came here to sit and talk with my friends. Bacon n egg wedge.. was quite big high but reheated in microwave, which is better than nothing.. was okay.. can see/ taste bacon, but scrambled egg mix was dryish!...the broccoli and egg based roulade( couldn’t see the filling.. and friends DIDNT let me taste the filling, but pinched a “taste “of the dryish base..( left too long in the fry pan?) My friends must have been hungry..they finished the lot... they had never eaten “European “ for lunch..so, okayed the snack/lunch...l Cost about $13/18 each.. so, cheap/ average/expensive..is debatable! But sitting and talking, with the river view , for some time, and drinking lotsa tea.. was relaxing.More

Went there after a walk this morning, we were so looking forward to a muffin or something else to eat. So disappointed in the carrot cake, it was very dry and unappetizing. Beautiful setting so it should have awesome food to match.

Beautiful cafe next to the river. You can't beat having breakfast here on a nice sunday. It seems to be quite popular with tourists too so you may have to wait a bit when it's busy.

Two of us had a great lunch seated outside and watching the activity around the boat shed itself. The staff were super friendly, the prices were great, and the other diners - lots of families and couples - were respectful and congenial.

Long wait times to be served. When I got to the counter I could see why as we were completely ignored and dismissed before being served. Seemed like such a burden on a wait stafg when I asked for a steak knife for my steak....Average food. The location is really great thoughMore

Whilst it was a bit windy our very attentive staff member immediately pulled the blind to make sure we were comfortable. All four of us were happy with our meals, great that the breakfast menu is available all day along with a lunch menu. Delightful...spot alongside the Avon River. Well worth a visit.More
