The Royal Tandoor located at 5/478 Cranford St (not Warrington St as above) would be hard to beat for service, meal quality and value. The wines are well chosen and affordable including the Graham Norton Shiraz which complimented my meal perfectly. Their onion barghees were perfectly cooked large and tasty. We chose the Royal banquet which was a banquet in every sense of the word being able to choose our favourite curries also was a bonus. We were very impressed with the meat quality and the generous portion sizes. The meals were flavoursome and beautifully presented. The waiter was polite and extremely helpful and the restaurant was warm, clean with a lovely ambience. We will not hesitate to return and highly recommend the Royal Tandoor for your favourite Indian dish.

We arrived in Christchurch after dark and hungry. I searched up food places near where we were staying (Edgeware) and came across Royal Tandoor. Staff friendly, food came quickly and was delicious (especially the naan bread).

This place was oddly empty (not a good sign). The service was friendly. My naan bread was wonderful (I got the one that's called Peshwari naan elsewhere, though it was called something different at this place); but my chicken korma didn't taste like I'm used to it tasting, and had a slightly granular consistency.

We've got take-aways often from here but this evening was a disappointment. Partner went and got the Mango Chicken, for himself. Said it was a bit sweet. Later, I served myself a small potion. OMG!!! Ultra-high on sugar, ultra-low on any spice or flavouring. Just a sweet, yellow mess.

Drive past this place often,we decided to try.
My partner and I ordered 2 vegetarian korma’s, we specified them to be mild… we were basically were given 2 mushroom soups, very flavourless, very little vege.. this was a takeaway order, when we got home we had to add our own Indian seasoning to at least make it resemble a curry. The garlic breads we were given did not taste fresh, and the pakoras were also poor.
Disappointing, we won’t be going back.

Worst Chicken Korma we have ever had.
It was insipid land acking the warn yellowish style of a traditional Korma.
To be honest it was ghastly looked like vomit and will never return.
The Naan was ok

Delicious Indian food made from fresh ingredients.
Looks and tastes very authentic and home made.
Please note that the Warrington Street location is more of a take away place, there is only really a waiting area at the front of the shop (pictured images are the Cranford street location, which is also excellent).

We picked take away, they have combo meals which were good, specially with lamb curry. Veg Biryani turned out to be a disappointment.

Had an evening meal here. I requested a dish not on their menu, but they provided it. It was probably a little too hot for my taste, but I was not going to complain as they made it specially for me. Super starter and apart from a little bit too hot, an excellent main course, thank you.

Grabbed some takeaways for a large group shared meal, combined with food from another Beckenham Thai restaurant. The Royal Tandoor food was enjoyed by everyone, their nan bread being a good size too as some seem to have shrunk at other outlets. Good quality, mild as ordered to suit everyones palates. All good, ready to go at the allotted pick up time too which helps when co-ordinating a smorgasbord as such of takeaways to enjoy.

We have been here many times to eat in but this time we grabbed take out meals. The same great quality that we can enjoy at home on a cold evening with a bottle of wine.

By far my favourite Indian restaurant to visit. Incredibly yummy food! It is often quiet but don’t let that fool you, the food is amazing!

My wife wanted Indian to we decided to try the local takeaway for the first time and we were very pleasantly surprised. The Chicken Bhuna was lovely with a great kick and warm flavour, and our mixed entree was a gret way to try a little of everything. It was great to try a local place and want to return in a hurry to try something different.

We went here with some family in August and were very pleasantly surprised by the food and service.
As it happens, we do like our Indian food and given that the restaurant was fairly empty on a Friday night we were not expecting very much, how wrong we were!
The food was brilliant, great flavours, tender meat and certainly more than enough for the three of us.
The only minor quibble was the attempt by the waitress to up-size our order (which if we had would have been way too much food) but hey I am guessing that she is just doing her job!
Anyway, give it a go and I think that you may also be pleasantly surprised and become a regular customer.
