Four of us enjoyed yet again a very good meal on New Years Eve at Good Thai as we did last year.
Good Thai is always worth a visit and the experience seems authentic and genuine to my uneducated Thai Palate.
However, the thai food there is always enjoyable and full of flavour.
The wine glasses supplies are better than average and the surroundings are fitting for a Thai Restaurant while the staff were lovely as usual.
We shared four courses between us and the generous servings were more than enough, in fact we didn't finish our final Combination Pad Thai dish.
Parking is right outside and has never been a problem for us.
We will be back again.

We had a really good meal at this restaurant. The service was friendly and prompt. The food was very tasty and extremely authentic. This place has not been watered down and europeanised like some of the more swanky place in the city. The freshness of the food was noticeable and was the flavour. The taste was authentic Thai and brought back memories of all our visits to Thailand. Highly recommended and great to see quality like this in the suburbs

Our favourite Christchurch Thai restaurant. Always wonderful service and exceptional food without fail. We frequent Good Thai regularly and can't speak highly enough of them. Go try it. Good value and great food. Andy and Lisa.

Terrible lunch. The lunch has gone up in price and the size of the meals are getting smaller. We arrived at 1.30 for lunch and they close at 2. We were the only ones in the Restaurant. When we paid the bill and were out by 2 pm, we were told by the staff that is we wanted to go back for lunch could we go earlier as they want to be cleaned up by 2 pm as they do not get paid. Thats fine we will not be returning at all.

Passing through Christchurch we went to the Good Thai. The food was terrible. A crime against Thai Cuisine.
The Chef's Special, "BBQ Pork and Crispy Pork on rise" was inedible. The pork was dry and tough, and an unnatural colour of red (MSG alert). The stir fry peanut crispy pork was marginally better. However, again the pork was dry and tough.
The stir fry ginger chicken was ok, but was bland in flavour and lacked ginger - the over-powering taste was mushroom.
All in all, not a pleasant experience, and a terrible example of Thai food.
At least they did not charge us for the Chef's Special "BBQ Pork and Crispy Pork on rise" after we complained. But there was no apology.
Avoid this place.

We had a great meal after a day of travel driving from Queenstown. Great seafood and veggies with just right amount of spice. Busy little place.

Really lovely place and great food, fast service and lovely people working there.
Only critique is that our drinks came in the can with paper straws :( given the current need to reduce landfill waste all restaurants should be banning paper straws and either moving to metal straws or putting drinks in glasses

The Tom Kha Gai soup was terrific, as good as what we had in Thailand, the ginger chicken was also very good and it was nice to be able to pair it with Singha beer. With good service and terrific value, highly recommended.

After being disappointed with most of the Asian restaurants we visited during 2 weeks holiday, we were pleasantly surprised to taste some authentic thai Tom yum. Sourish and spicy enough. Service was good. Decor was simple. Prices were reasonable. Only gripe was with the table cloths and cloth placemats . There seem to be a musty smell. Believe this is from gravies and drinks spilled. The wait staff did spray some stuff and wipe the placemats with cloth after clearing the tables. But it's tough to really clean fabric this way. It's better to change them after use or replace with non-porous materials. Hope the restaurant seriously consider this to further bring up the standard. Otherwise it's such a waste because it does have a lot of potential to increase business.

We had dinner one cold night...the food was tasty and well presented and my husband declared the Green Chicken Curry was the best he had had in a long time. I enjoyed the Drunken Noodles.
Staff very polite and helpful when we were deciding what to order...well worth braving the cold to eat here.

It’s not often you get a very good green curry outside of Thailand. This place clearly owned by thais delivers on taste. If you’re in the area definitely give it a go - you’re sure to get a good Thai surprise.

Food delicious. Had the chilli and basil chicken stirfry medium. Very tasty. Had uber eats night before from here. Nicer in restaurant I feel. Busy with customers and takeaways plus Uber. Friendly staff.

We come back again and again to Good Thai Restaurant on Kendal Avenue in Burnside. It is one of our two Favourite Thai Restaurants in Christchurch and we have never been disappointed.
We like the Staff too and have got to know them a bit from going so often.
On this night, we were mostly looked after by a young man who looked like he was still at school but he did a good job in his own quiet way.
B.Y.O. is an option which we use every time we go to Good Thai and parking is usually available close by.
They do takeaways as well which we have enjoyed in the past.
I rather like local restaurants that are not part of the many food chains that abound everywhere today whereas Good Thai is a one off Restaurant.
That usually means a more authentic feel to the eating out experience that I always appreciate when we go out to Good Thai.
Good Thai is worth a try for larger Groups , Takeaways or just eating out with Family or Friends.
