Three of us celebrated my birthday in style with very tasty food. The local fire brigade were also in there, getting their dinner and they recommended it too.
Very tasty dishes were presented promptly. Starter for two was enough for all three of us. Cumin rice was great! Lots of leftovers to take home too. Service was good and discreet. Good value for money.

I recently tried Indian Ocean and it was fantastic! The food was incredibly flavorful, with authentic Indian dishes that satisfied my taste buds. The staff was friendly and provided great service. If you're looking for delicious Indian cuisine in Christchurch, I highly recommend Indian Ocean!

Early on a Saturday night the restaurant was not busy, we had the pick of seats. Plenty of starters to choose from, the onion bhaji, kasthuri kebab and prawns were all delicious and nicely spiced. The garlic naan was slightly sweet but the kashmiri just as it should be. We tried 2 curries, dahl makhani was really good but the chicken curry again was sweet. Drinks were well priced and the service was great.

Have had endless fliers from here so decided to give it a try. Was told on entering that the two for one Wednesday night offer was applicable. Then when we paid were told that if we hadn't booked then the offer doesn't apply. Had to send the rice back as it was cold. Sorry but we won't be back no matter how many fliers you send.

Husband and I went one evening and enjoyed a night out.
Food was amazing
full of flavour and more than enough for us both to share our meals.
service was good with the owner checking on how everything was and the waitress keeping our drinks topped up etc
I would highly recommend this to those who love Indian food

We turned up with 7 people, with no booking. We ordered some specials as was recommended to us.
Food was extremely yummy, I would go so far to say it's the best curry I've had in a while in Christchurch.
My only recommendation is that the portion sizes could be a bit bigger. Even though we ordered poppadums, 2x starters, 4 curry dishes and 3 naan breads, there wasn't quite enough. There was, however, plenty of rice

Four of us including two vegetarians enjoyed an excellent meal. Good selection of starters and superb mains including our personal favorite Palak Panneer. Good service and very ambient surroundings. Would highly recommend.

I have been there to have dinner with my friend this evening for dinner for the first time nice ambience beautiful art deco and craft ,excellent customer service with tasty mouth watering food..We had a great experience..Will come back again and again..for sure..Cheers to Indian Ocean team...Thank you for having us...

The food is awesome. We went there for dinner for the two nights that we were in Christchurch. It’s one of the best Indian restaurant for food I have been to. The food is totally awesome. The service needs to improve. My message to the team is to greet your customer with a smile and engage more. Your food is amazing. By providing a little more effort to your customer experience I am sure you will have many more customers returning. I will definitely be back. I highly recommend this place for the food. ( I hope you do not get put off about the customer experience comments because the food is totally awesome). I am hopeful the team reads my comments and work on the delivery of a pleasant customer experience. My comments are not to discourage anyone from eating here but for the team to match their amazing food with amazing service as well.
