I went here with my family on a busy holiday weekend. The restaurant was very busy and the staff was very accommodating. Service was a little slow due to a large number of customers, but we were forewarned of this so all good. Unfortunately, we...found the food in general very average and this was a disappointment. Unlikely to return.More
Well regarded establishment, however it disappointed . Seated and no drink service, we ordered drinks from bar Music uncomfortably loud and to be fair we like music Food relatively average Overall not worth a return
Went for lunch with aunties. I think they need to invest in training staff. Waiter did not know specials, what was in sliders etc. When meals arrived 40 minutes later 2 meals were wrong as they came off the night menu, waiter didnt know this....Most of us changed to sliders, they were delicious the best I have had. It meant 4 of us had meals after an hour the rest waited longer. I person had the big breakfast it was badly cooked. Disappointed as I had heard good things. Not sure I will repeat the experience.More
IN A NUTSHELL: Sophisticated modern café/restaurant with a well-designed contemporary menu delightfully paired with exemplar service and a wonderful atmosphere. Excellent food well presented. Excellent coffee! IN DETAIL: Located in Ferrymead, chances are you will be driving to this venue. I am pleased to report...there’s ample parking and it’s easy to get in and out of traffic flow with multiple entry and exit points (off Ferry Rd or off Humphreys Drive). The building is modern as is the décor. The inside has some separations between higher stool/leaner type seating to table seating to delightful couch seating. There’s also “outdoor” (well… conservatory?) areas one of which features a stunning open fire. On our visit last night this fire was roaring… there’s just something about an open fire - love them! Other points to note building wise – we found the seating sturdy and comfortable, there’s guest WiFi and even USB ports and plugs for guests to charge devices – wonderful touches showing that the owners are in touch with what modern guests desire! We had pre-booked... and our table was ready for us. We found table attendance over the entire evening to be amazing – we really felt we were valued as customers. The service was equally matched. Food orders taken, drinks and food arriving in just the right time, offers of additional drinks, plates and cutlery cleared, offers of additional menus etc. Couldn’t ask for better - and certainly could not have received better service. It was also lovely to see the staff in their apron/pinafores – they looked very smart indeed. The menu is interesting and well designed. Our visit was an evening visit but it is exciting to note during the day the café serves breakfast and lunch, and, from 11am offers small plate options. What I was personally delighted with was that the small plate options carried on from lunch for the rest of the day into the evening – terrific and one of the reasons we chose this place as smaller plates suit my diet (post gastric sleeve so don’t fit much in at any one time). When our food arrived… well only two words come to mind… simply gorgeous! I guess we’ve come to expect a high level of presentation with a contemporary modern restaurant and Ten27 was well up to the challenge. Presentation was superb. Presentation is nothing though if the food isn’t cooked to perfection and full of flavour and I am delighted to report that their food absolutely was cooked well (nothing soggy or greasy and came with lively fresh salad items etc) and absolutely full of flavour. I do wish to also touch on the coffee… I’m one of those people (perhaps due to dietary requirements?) who prefers better coffee than better food… if your food is to die for but the coffee is lousy… forget it… I won’t be back. I was simply delighted to note that Ten27 uses Caffe L’Affare which just happens to be one of my favourite roasters/providers! Bravo to that! As expected the coffee was fantastic... gutsy big bold African beans (they use the "Primo" blend from L'Affare) with superb notes drinking and with aftertaste. On the night we visited there was live music ("Voxette Duo") and I am happy to report that the they were thoroughly enjoyable and the volume just right! I think live music is a nice touch and definitely adds to the atmosphere and enjoyment of the evening out! In summary, you are in very safe hands here at Ten27. The owners/operators are a family unit and have been operating here for many years with Ten27 being a product of an evolutionary growing process. It is clear they have loads of experience in this industry, know what customers want and ensure it’s well delivered… Terrific vibe/atmosphere, truly excellent food and service! I am honestly looking forward to coming back again.More
Looking for a great cafe in Ferrymead area then simply put... go here. Great food range and fantastic coffee. Dog friendly outside area too. See you soon guys!!!
We dropped in for soup and coffee and the soup was delicious . We had a seafood bisque that was to die for! The service was A + and would highly recommend.
We came for dinner. The food was once again delicious. The fried chicken is really tasty and the squid salad is huge. The mains we has were steak with onion rings, carrots and confit potatoes...so tasty. My husband had the confit duck which he said...was beautiful. Finished off with the mousse....lovely as well. Ten27 is so underrated....the food and quality is excellent, as are the staff working here. Looking forward to going back soonMore
We have enjoyed coffee here a few times so thought we would give the breakfast a whirl...in short, don't bother. The coffee remains great and the decor and location good, but that's where the joy ends I'm afraid. It should be noted that 1 of our...party loved their granola - so if granola is your thing then you may leave with a smile. However 2 others of our party ordered the Big 27 breakfast and the eggs bene - both were decidedly average. However the big food dissappointment was the brioche french toast which promised speced plums and white chocolate cream. What arrived were 2 very dry fried pieces of cornflake crusted bread - no one could find the link to Brioche - with a small smear of what may have been plum jam, and three squirts of what must have been aerosol whipped cream. I have never before left a plate of food - but 1 mouthful in and I decided this wasnt worth the effort of fork to mouth. I need to add I always try to find something to love about food someone else has cooked me - there was nothing to find here. All of this could have been slightly easier to digest by friendly wait staff- however they were not on the menu either. the stonefaced chap who took our order was followed by a waitress who had missed hospo101 it seems as she reached over over full plates of food, banged down cutlery and seemed rattled. On the whole, what a shame, when the location is so good and the atmosphere great for a Saturday morning. I guess if you just want a coffee then this places should suit you nicely.More
We came here for dinner on a first table deal. What a great place! Our meal was delicious. We had the fish cakes and haloumi to start...fish cakes are so delicious. We also had the lamb and beef for meals. Both were really tasty. Great...value and lovely meal. Good service as wellMore
