Me my partner and 16 yr old son went to Dux Din for dinner cause i heard they had vegan options i got crispy tofu which was nice until i got an after taste of fish so there was my first problem obviously they cooked...my tofu on the same place as there fish then i told them i was vegan and if they could cook me some seasonal veggies when they come out with my dish it was in a little bowl it was weird like why didnt they put my veggies on a plate they were average and i was still hungery so i thought id get a dessert there was only one option to choose from so i got that then we had to wait 15min when it finally came out it was in tiny little jar some kind of parfait it was nicest dish out of them all so to sum it up my son was happy but me and my partner went home still hungrey and it cost $170More

The food and service were just FABULOUS! We were lucky that ' Whitebait Wednesday ' was available and served in a great way - quite different to a whitebait fritter. The service was impeccable and any query was promptly adhered to. The ' crowning glory'...was the beautiful Creme Brulee - always a great favorite when we dine here. We will be back soon.More

I brought my pescatarian friends here for dinner. They were thrilled to find a menu that catered for them. We had a great night with delicious food and friendly service. The Ginger Tom beer certainly hit the spot too.

Every dish is superb & good service. It was our family last dinner in Christchurch before we ended our holidays here. It was quite an unexpected that we searched & found this place. The ambient is nice , good for friends & family. I think...it is well known for local more than tourists but highly recommended. It was one of the best meals that we had during our entire trip. We were recomended ot go next door for late dinner, and Dux had a table (quite crowded) for us on a glassed in porch overlooking thepatio. Th site was nice, adn the food was great. They have a real way with vegetables and fish. I...had a breaded fish sauteed on veg base that aw simple and delicious, my wife had spanokopita with a slaw salad, both of which she really enjoyed. Came here with my partner for lunch and it was a complete waste of time. After ordering, we spent the next 40 minutes just waiting as we thought it was just a little busier than usual. When we followed up on the food, all we...got was ‘sorry we do not have your order on our pad, seems like it was not put through. It is completely up to you if you still want to order, there is just another table ahead of you.’ We left as my partner had a meeting to get to in an hour’s time. It felt like there was little to no effort to provide any compensation for the time we’ve just wasted. Overall, just a really bad experience and highly would not recommend going.More

We dined at Dux Dine years ago, but then things started sliding downhill. Our last visit a year ago was so-so, but we thought we'd give them one last try in the hopes things had come back up to standard. Unfortunately no... On arrival, both...the water glasses at our table still had lip-stick stains on the rim ,,which put us off having a drink. Upon telling the waitress, she replaced them but didn't seem surprised. Then to make our order it took a few trips back & forth to the kitchen for the waitress, as she didn't know what the specials of the day were, or what the fish of the day was... I was first told it was Kingfish, so was very pleased to order that, being my favourite. But alas, she came back to tell me they still had one groper left in the kitchen that had to be eaten first before they could use the fresh Kingfish. Well,,, groper being my 2nd favourite, I ordered it. It did smell & taste fishy and I wish I didn't know that the fresh kingfish was an option!! My partner ordered the fish and chips which was mostly greasy, oily batter. Had better in a fish & chip shop! Most of the entrees are just deep-fried nibbles with a squirt of aioli or mayo, like bar snacks but double the price. We asked to look at the dessert menu, but it was exactly the same as it was years ago, except now the little cardboard card it's printed on, is sticky to touch & covered with food, spilt drinks & dirty handprints ...We went elsewhere for dessert! The decor it seems is getting as dated as the menu ...what a shame this place used to be the go-to place! Maybe it changed hands, or maybe the owner is just over it?!More

They managed to squeeze our late Wednesday night business dinner for 6. Our visitors enjoyed their meal. We have been before and always had a good meal.

One element of starter was missed and brought out when queried. Mains were ok but nothing special and we didn’t bother with desert as the couple on the next table were not impressed with theirs. Wine very expensiveMore

Disappointing visit with friends - inexperienced staff and meals much smaller than on our previous visit last year. Had to ask for water, coffees and someone to take our order. These comments are for Management to take note of and sort if you want return...customers. On the positive side, our waitress did check to see if the meals were ok.More

A very good restaurant with a beautiful garden. The fish was very well prepared with a very tasty green sauce. A good wine selection and friendly service.More
