Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Cosy bar quite busy on a Thursday night. Met up with colleagues for dinner. When the food arrived we were advised to taste before adding salt. Good advice! My seafood chowder was saltier than the Dead Sea which had been over compensated with an abundance...of lemon oil. Inedible. I did inform the waitress who said she would tell the chef. I guess that was it, no feedback, no apology, no further comment. To add balance, 2nd colleague had sausage and mash, salty but just acceptable, 3rd, fish and chips was lovely. Maybe just a bad night but less can be moreMore

Pommeroy’s was once the exemplar of a community pub - A place of community and hospitality. It was a sanctuary during the upheaval of the earthquakes. Unfortunately after several visits in recent months, it can be characterised as an overpriced pub with limited bistro food...and poor bar service - with no interest in making punters feel welcome, or a sense of getting to know the community. Why spend $15 for a beer with poor service & disappointing food? Better off at a Speight’s ale house for value & service… Times were more inviting when Steve met you at the bar and even if he didn’t remember you or your whānau he would still make you feel like he did. After being a semi regular since 2004 we won’t be back soonMore

Bit of a walk out of central Christchurch, but worth it when you get there. Lots of seating inside & out (there are heaters), with a huge selection of keg ales and a great food menu. When I went it seemed to be full of...locals, rather than tourists, which gave the place a more authentic atmosphere. Service was charming & efficient. They do tasting paddles/ flights for a set price.More

For the past 15+ yrs we've totally enjoyed Poms as our local and as a works bar after work. I have never had a complaint. What has really pee'd me off big time, are the prices now being charged for drinks. I have traveled the...world and drunk in many countries, I have never paid prices like I have the last 2 visits to Pomaroys, yesterday, Sunday 9/10/22, it will also be our last visit ever. I asked for a pinot, and my wife asked for a poms beer, that's $27.80 thank you.!!!WTF My pinot was the least I have ever seen in a glass, and my wife's drink was an average glass size. Where the hell do you get off charging such ridiculous prices....as an example, my wife and I along with friends went to a bar last weekend in town, A wine was $9.00 and a beer was $9.50, note, the glass was larger the Poms glass. Lovely owner who we reallyy have enjoyed in the past, but never again. Your not looking after your local bread and butter thats for sure.More
