Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Busy Saturday but well worth the wait. Fun and social environment. Great menu selection with a variety of savory and sweet pastries, sandwiches, smoothies, coffee/tea beverages, etc. There are also a number of tables (indoor and outdoor), couches, and stools to sit at as well...as a bookstore or shop attached. I ordered a latte and the cheese scone warmed with butter for takeaway. The wait was very short and both items were really good – I definitely plan to stop by one more time before I leave town. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!More

This was a really good place for a casual brunch and we all enjoyed our food, it was also a great pace for me to do some work and I could have sat there all day!

This is pretty much always a solid brunch choice. A quirky cafe with indoor and outdoor seating and a good selection of both menu and cabinet food. Even better, they care about ethics and social impact too. It does get busy and tables can be...in high demand but they turnover fairly fast. Coffee is good and so is the choice of savoury and sweet food. Highly recommendedMore

Wonderful food & coffee in a gorgeous building, the cutest little store with great books and nice things and beautiful values enveloping it all in the warmest feeling. We saw it recommended in a travel guide and would return every day if I lived locally...and not in -literally- the other side of the world! Thank you Bruce for sharing the story of its origin. Such an amazing place!More

I'm a local and have visited the Co-op plenty of times. Whenever I have family visiting from out of town this is one of the places I bring them to for lunch. It's always busy and full of people from all walks of life, from...family outings to business meetings. The staff here are always lovely. I love the addition of the flags for your table. The food comes out in a timely manner and the presentation is beautiful. We sat outside after a walk once with our miniature Fox Terrier and the lovely man came out to say hi and have a conversation. All the times I've been he interacts with his customers. It's the nicest environment to be a part of and has such a sense of community. The food comes in a variety of options ranging from GF to Vegan. I appreciate how the fruit and vegetables on certain dishes vary with the seasons, providing consideration for sustainable eating. I rate this place 10/10 on environment, food and service.More

We were staying in Christchurch & were looking for a nice breakfast so chose this one for it's 'Trip Advisor' reviews ....When we walked in just after 9am on a Saturday morning, the place was nearly full with patrons & really humming.... This is always...a good sign to a cafe's popularity .... We both had the Muesli & were not disappointed - fresh & delicious .... Drinks were great also + friendly staff . It was so nice seeing the older gentleman who looked after the book shop also walking round & helping out collecting dishes & talking to young & old - such a good fit as he obviously loved his job ... Will definitely be back here next time we are in town : )More

This is one of our favourite Christchurch cafes and the food is consistently yummy and service is always good. As Omicron is still making the rounds in New Zealand, they warned us as we ordered that food and drinks would likely take a little while...as they are short on staff. But it wasn't a problem at all - we had coffees within 4 minutes and the food arrived after 15 minutes. All nice and easy. And delicious like always. We had the eggs Benedict- one with bacon and hazelnut dukkah, and one with roasted mushrooms and spinach. Both were yummy although we did notice that the portions were a little smaller than when we were last here ayesr ago. We also opted for a cheesecake donut and an espresso and vanilla chocolate bar. Both were really nice dessert choices. We topped this off with flat whites which were well made as always. Service was efficient and friendly, and I do like that you get a random country's flag after you ordered at the counter instead of a table number. A cute touch. We will definitely go againMore

Fantastic coffee, friendly staff and delicious caramel nut slice! A great atmosphere & interesting decor, well worth a visit! The only downside is the limited parking & difficult on-street parking, but if you’re within walking distance it’s the perfect cafe!

Great atmosphere, full of character. Coffee was excellent. Came in for brunch and had the French Toast and Avocado. French Toast not too sweet which was great, tasty. Avocado order was fresh and was a very generous portion - delicious! Everything in the cabinet looked...great but only picked up the Date Scone - one of the best date scones I've had, definitely give it a go! We also appreciated the Fun Bag off the kid's menu, what a great idea and the little 5 year old loved it. Great food, wonderful coffee, excellent kids menu, and also smart, efficient, friendly service.More

After regularly driving past the narrow doorway of this establishment for the past few years, I found myself in Lincoln Road on foot and in a position to need a break and a coffee. After walking past then backtracking when the attached bookshop caught my...eye, I entered this emporium of goodness. The warmth of the staff and surrounds enveloped me. I spent the next hour and a half browsing eating drinking and soaking in the delicious atmosphere. I returned again today to experience the same vibe and the same top quality food ( cheeses scones 11 out of 10) coffee and service. Thank you for being there to make my day so special.More

Took us over 10 minutes to get to counter (even though the queue was very short) & then horrible service as they shut the kitchen on us.
