Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My first visit has not disappointed. I chose the vegan pancakes (egg allergy) and was surprised by how light and fluffy they were. The presentation was outstanding and they tasted every bit as good as they looked. They didn't appear to have my preferred Turmeric latte so I went with the Green Tea with Roses. I enjoyed it initially, but the last of the pot was very bitter. Next time I would just get a pot of hot water and take my own herbal tea bag.

This is a lovely brunch spot and good that their profits go back into the community too. Everything we had was yummy - the coffees and hot chocolate, eggs Benedict and the chocolate caramel cake. It was all divine although the eggs were the clear standout. Yumm.
It does get very busy but because service is so fast a table will likely open up quickly, so never fear.

This is one of our favourite Christchurch cafes and the food is consistently yummy and service is always good.
As Omicron is still making the rounds in New Zealand, they warned us as we ordered that food and drinks would likely take a little while as they are short on staff. But it wasn't a problem at all - we had coffees within 4 minutes and the food arrived after 15 minutes. All nice and easy.
And delicious like always. We had the eggs Benedict- one with bacon and hazelnut dukkah, and one with roasted mushrooms and spinach. Both were yummy although we did notice that the portions were a little smaller than when we were last here ayesr ago.
We also opted for a cheesecake donut and an espresso and vanilla chocolate bar. Both were really nice dessert choices.
We topped this off with flat whites which were well made as always.
Service was efficient and friendly, and I do like that you get a random country's flag after you ordered at the counter instead of a table number. A cute touch.
We will definitely go again

Great atmosphere, full of character. Coffee was excellent. Came in for brunch and had the French Toast and Avocado. French Toast not too sweet which was great, tasty. Avocado order was fresh and was a very generous portion - delicious!
Everything in the cabinet looked great but only picked up the Date Scone - one of the best date scones I've had, definitely give it a go! We also appreciated the Fun Bag off the kid's menu, what a great idea and the little 5 year old loved it.
Great food, wonderful coffee, excellent kids menu, and also smart, efficient, friendly service.

This is such a funky cafe with delicious food. It never disappoints!
Love the community vibe and the flags if different countries you get instead of a table or order number.
Got here a little late today (after 2) and the kitchen had already close which was a shame. But never fear - they have great cabinet food too. We got the vegetarian sandwich which was full of yummy portobello mushrooms and cheese, as well as a passionfruit cake, plus a got chocolate and a mango smoothie. All were very good and highly recommended.
Will definitely visit again. And hopefully next time we'll be a bit better organized and come early enough to order off the menu again.
Highly recommend this cool little cafe.

I'm a local and have visited the Co-op plenty of times. Whenever I have family visiting from out of town this is one of the places I bring them to for lunch. It's always busy and full of people from all walks of life, from family outings to business meetings. The staff here are always lovely. I love the addition of the flags for your table. The food comes out in a timely manner and the presentation is beautiful. We sat outside after a walk once with our miniature Fox Terrier and the lovely man came out to say hi and have a conversation. All the times I've been he interacts with his customers. It's the nicest environment to be a part of and has such a sense of community. The food comes in a variety of options ranging from GF to Vegan. I appreciate how the fruit and vegetables on certain dishes vary with the seasons, providing consideration for sustainable eating.
I rate this place 10/10 on environment, food and service.

This is one of my favourite places. I love the food, the coffee, the vibe, the trade aid shop with its curated book selection, and the enthusiastic and gentle man who I think is the owner. I feel I can really relax here amongst friendly folk.

I met a friend for lunch & a catch-up.
The restaurant is lovely and roomy with plenty of tables and big long benches with stools plus and outdoor area that even has a small raised lawn.
The sun floods inside which was great on our spring morning.
The staff we found to be very friendly and helpful.
đź‘ŤWe both had cabinet food which was great: Greek salad & a savoury muffin.
The menu food did look fabulous though‼️
We both enjoyed their delicious smoothies, soooo good🥤👅
Within the restaurant is a lovely gift shop.

I come here quite regularly and am yet to be disappointed! The food is always delicious, they have great vegan options, and are ethical which is very nice! The staff are friendly and polite even when super busy (which does happen because it’s very popular usually!). I am yet to find a cafe in Christchurch that beats the food, service and atmosphere here. Definitely recommend.

Busy Saturday but well worth the wait. Fun and social environment. Great menu selection with a variety of savory and sweet pastries, sandwiches, smoothies, coffee/tea beverages, etc. There are also a number of tables (indoor and outdoor), couches, and stools to sit at as well as a bookstore or shop attached.
I ordered a latte and the cheese scone warmed with butter for takeaway. The wait was very short and both items were really good – I definitely plan to stop by one more time before I leave town.
Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

This is definitely one of our favourite Christchurch brunch places. Always busy, and you can't really book it, but even if it's full you tend to get a table pretty fast.
It's a casual place with tables both inside and outside, including a few communal tables.
Great selection of food, both from the menu and the cabinet, with lots of savoury and sweet choices. We especially love the eggs Benedict, and usually add a sweet treat as well. The cinnamon scroll is a favourite. The coffee is great too and a nice touch that they use countries' flags instead of tables numbers.
Highly recommend.

Wonderful food & coffee in a gorgeous building, the cutest little store with great books and nice things and beautiful values enveloping it all in the warmest feeling.
We saw it recommended in a travel guide and would return every day if I lived locally and not in -literally- the other side of the world!
Thank you Bruce for sharing the story of its origin. Such an amazing place!

After regularly driving past the narrow doorway of this establishment for the past few years, I found myself in Lincoln Road on foot and in a position to need a break and a coffee. After walking past then backtracking when the attached bookshop caught my eye, I entered this emporium of goodness. The warmth of the staff and surrounds enveloped me. I spent the next hour and a half browsing eating drinking and soaking in the delicious atmosphere. I returned again today to experience the same vibe and the same top quality food ( cheeses scones 11 out of 10) coffee and service. Thank you for being there to make my day so special.

This is pretty much always a solid brunch choice. A quirky cafe with indoor and outdoor seating and a good selection of both menu and cabinet food. Even better, they care about ethics and social impact too.
It does get busy and tables can be in high demand but they turnover fairly fast. Coffee is good and so is the choice of savoury and sweet food. Highly recommended
