Was just ok...

We had a group of 8 attend the high tea. We were a bit disappointed in the food for the cost of $50per person. The scones with jam and cream were brought out first but when you cut them they literally fell to pieces as...they were so dry (more of a biscuit and not edible). The tier food was ok, a lot of it tasted the same but presented in different ways. The service was good, my daughter is 7 and only liked the macaroons so the wait staff brought her a wee bowl of fried food so she didn't go hungry. The high tea flavours aren't really suited for a younger audience especially when you pay $50!. I wouldn't do the high tea there again, I've had the other food and it was great so maybe need to stick to their strengths.More

Food excellent but kitchen can back up when busy

We had great food here. Service was good, too. We were early. A little later, when it became busy, the kitchen got backed up, so things slowed. Other than that, things were good

Best Chinese inspire cuisine in CHCH

Went out for our wedding anniversary and was not disappointed. Food was exceptional and staff we friendly and accommodating Price was on the high side but that seems to be the trend everywhere. Would recommend to anyone who likes good Chinese food

Enjoyable

Went here for the High Tea experience as part of a birthday treat with my mother. The food was great with my favourite the passionfruit tiramisu. A great selection of cocktails. The service was excellent and when they heard it was for my mother's birthday...they gave her a free glass on bubbles, which was appreciated. Will definitely do this againMore

Delicious Food and drinks

Went here for a belated Birthday Dinner last night. While it is a little on the pricier side, the food is delicious and cocktails are amazing! The food did come out a bit slowly (we were a group of 11 however) so it meant some...people got their food way before others and a couple orders missed. But the team was lovely and remedied this with free food items etc. Happy to come back again, but maybe in a smaller group.More

Do not trust the chef

Service was good, but they were busy and ordering drinks took a while. Cocktails tasted more like mocktails and size of the beers was underwhelming. The food was disappointing. We got trust the chef for 10 people, at $65 per person. None of the 8...dishes were anything to get excited about. Fantastic and highly recommend. Do go there for lunch!

We regularly dine out (lunch and/or dinner). Midnight Shanghai is one of our much loved regular lunchtime haunts. Amazing service - there are some expensive places we frequent who could learn from this team. Great food. Absolutely good bang for your buck when it comes...to a thoroughly fulfilling lunch. Equally, you can enjoy a light lunch on smaller dishes - recommend the duck dumplings. Great place for a wonderful lunch.More
