Right across the road from the estuary is CBK bar and restaurant. What a great find, the staff were very friendly and helpful...were more then happy for me to bring my wee dog into the outdoor dining area, got him a bowl of water and a doggy treat. Both my friend and I ordered "The Cut" a very delish rump steak comes in 2 weights, I got the 500gm. Come on a stone grill with perfectly cooked chips and a shredded carrot and broccoli salad..my friend got mushroom with hers also..the Chai Latte is to die for.. The dessert was a hand made white choc cheesecake very light and well balanced flavours which is made from scratch on the premises and absolutely devine The place had a great atmosphere can't wait to go back and try something else off their extensive menu.. Place is kid friendly and offers a wide selection of food to tempt even the fussiest of little ones

A Different Type of Review

We were having a bit of a family get together which started off with 10 people wanting to meet up for brunch. We booked then it grew like Topsy & we had 23! CBK were wonderful about the growing number. We were asked if we wanted to sit inside or out, I responded with in because one of our group was 97. On the day when we arrived we were welcomed by the team, our tables were set up in a private area and there was a blanket provided for our older member should she have needed it. A lovely, thoughtful detail. We all soon had drinks and were given time to catch up before orders for food were taken. The food was absolutely spot on, the service excellent as usual. The reason I wanted to write this review is because of the genuine sense of welcome we all received, nothing was too much trouble, the venue was perfect and Shelly & her team seem to want to make it all about your visit being a success. There is genuine warmth from all of the staff at this establishment and when you couple that with the delicious food and great variety of drinks how can you lose? Oh & just a last comment not one of the 23 people had a bum meal and I have received complementary texts from everyone of them on the selection of a superb venue! If you have a special event give this one a shot.

What a wonderful night out to dinner with my partner had a great meal at CBK served by Shelley and her team. Would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone great atmosphere and even though the staff were wearing masks they were all doing there job with a smile. The food is amazing with a great selection and you must try the frozen margaritas WOW

Touch of excellence

Shelley and her team have the recipe right and I don’t just mean the excellent food . Customer service is above and beyond , we were totally impressed by the genuine kind interaction that was shown to us and others at her restaurant. Little things mean a lot and it’s why we will return often . Acknowledging a Birthday for us with a complimentary taster after a brief conversation about seafood chowder was special . Interaction with a child at another table and then escorting an elderly guest to the door bought a tear to my eye ... Oops and the food was very tasty..we had salt and pepper squid that was cooked to perfection followed by the lamb sizzler plate . It was all we expected and more . Lunch at 3 pm and the place had a warm friendly feel . Thank you 😊 We will be back

Husband's Birthday Celebration plus another visit

After a wonderful day out my son and I went to CBK to celebrate my late husband's birthday. My son ordered the pasta and he said it was very tasty. I ordered the Porkbelly. Yum. So tasty. So many roasted vegetables, I ended up giving my son half my vegetables. The only thing I was slightly disappointed with, was the crackling wasn't crunchy, a bit chewy. Two days later I went back for lunch and and tried the Seafood Chowder I had noticed was on the menu. So tasty and full of so much fish. I will definitely be going back to have both these foods again and to try something else from the menu.

So good went back the next night

Got a bit lost well looking for somewhere to eat and glad we did came across the CBK thought we would give it a go. I had a couple of starters off the blackboard menu and my wife the seafood chowder my starters were good my wifes chowder excellent in fact so good we went back the next night specifically so I could have the seafood chowder which didn't disappoint heaps of chunky seafood. As well as stone grill they have quite a comprehensive menu everything we had was good to excellent. The staff were great recognised on our second visit by Manpratt (hope I spelt it right) and even though busy and no booking we were cheerfully fitted in. We did stop in a 3rd time for a couple of drinks and to ensure the staff next time we were in Christchurch they would be seeing us again.

We had a booking last night for 15 people. Service was great. Meals came out in a timely matter and the food was super tasty! I highly recommend this place and we will definitely be coming back at some stage as we enjoyed it so much! Thanks

Very nice food and craft beer. Child friendly also and great location beside the harbour. Buttermilk Chicken burger was really nice and highly recommended, as it is skillet cookie.

Family meal varied food value, presentation and taste

We went for a family meal. Burger meals were good. Seafood Chowder was actually potato (large chunks ) with a touch of seafood. A rip off. CBK Stone Grill meal was nice but veggies over cooked, no gravy and sauce with potatoes was weird and sweet tasting

Very sad experience. Having paid for all drinks we were stopped at the door and accused of not paying. This involved an interrogation and investigation at the till in front of other customers. I explained to the staff how humiliating this was with faint apology. As a local of 25 years I will be shy of returning with any business . A great shame as the person who greeted us could not have been more friendly. This requires better communication and better customer handling. You have potentially lost a huge amount of custom for no reason at a difficult time for us all. I advise anyone to hold onto your receipts.

What a great local. Was warmly welcomed by a lady behind the bar. I said that I was short of time and wanted to knowif they would be able to complete my order in time, which she assured me they could. I was seated and served promptly, with a professional friendliness and charm, thank you. This place was very child friendly. High chairs, colouring in, cute fluffies and the staff were really friendly and chatty to my little one, again, thank you! My order did come out in a very timely manner, which exceeded my expectations, more thank yous from me! The flat white was perfect, the fluffy was very cute and the cookie…OMIGOSH! Was amazing! I am a bit of a cookie connoisseur if I can say so myself and this cookie was unbelievably wonderful! It was however so huge and generous in portion size that I couldn’t even finish it haha. I would recommend ordering it to share, unless you are up to the challenge. We will be back for sure and are excited at the prospect. Highly recommend.

Incredible food and service!

Went here as my sister said the place is the best ...she wasnt wrong! Stone grills for $23.90! The service and food was outstanding, Manpreet looked after our table like we were friends and as it was my birthday, had a dessert with the staff singing Happy Birthdat and that meant heaps. Thanks team for making my night, your food and service is one in a million and we will absolutely be back x

Above Average Ferrymead Restaurant

Spacious pub/restaurant with good indoor/outdoor seating. Good beer and wine by glass options. Food definitely above average with lots of different options eg salads, street food, traditional pub food, stone grill. Great service. Free parking at the door.

CBK has been my favourite restaurant since I was little and tonight was probably the best meal I have ever had there. I got the smoked teriyaki salmon salad and my nana got the Thai beef salad. Both of which were on their specials board.
