El Quincho is a total find in Christchurch! The food here is AWESOME - full of flavour and totally authentic. My husband and I both had the combo argento which we highly recommend. Better still was the pricing - a plate with a chorizo sausage, home made roll, empanda, salad and sauces was $16. That is unbelievable compared to other places in town and considering the quality of the food we were absolutely sold. I highly recommend this place to anyone considering visiting and we will definitely be back!

Delicious food, great service, super accommodating of kids

We booked a table here for dinner tonight along with our 1 year old (wasn’t even sure if they did bookings but couldn’t afford to wait for a table given bed time constraints..). The staff are so welcoming and went out of their way to find a high chair for our wee girl. I ordered the sirloin and my husband ordered the beef burger. The steak came out with a wee side salad which was really nice and the steak was amazing! My husband said the burger was probably the best burger he’s ever had. We will no doubt be back here many times :)

Great Argentine BBQ restaurant - very reasonable prices

Excellent service, I had sirloin steak medium rare with a salad and criollo sauce, accompanied by a nice glass of NZ Pinot noir. The restaurant is on Oxford terrace by the river and has indoor and outdoor seating. Simple BBQ menu but well worth a visit.

We found ordering to be quick and like a lot of the eateries in the area you get a pager to advise you when your meal is ready. We ordered a platter of food and most of the meats were good but we found the pork to be a bit fatty. The stand out meat was the chicken which was divine. Portion sizes were right for two people and the atmosphere outside was great.

Really Bad food, place smelled and was very dirty

Food wasn't cooked from fresh, was already cooked & then they reheated the meat. Which was cold in the middle of the steak & undercooked. Expected a Hot cooked meal. we told lady, she didn't really seem to care, said they had busy all-day. The floor and tables where dirty we paid $58 and felt let down will never go back even if it was free. I feel they had dropped their Standard .as this wasn't what we have had before with the same meal.

Extremely disappointing

My husband and I visited this restaurant on a Sunday evening, it seemed quite busy for a Sunday. We ordered an entree to share and a main each, then waited for 40 minutes before the food to arrived. The entree was inedible, the cheese was had been sitting on the grill for so long it tasted like rubber. The waiter did not care about this at all and refused to take $25 off the bill (we hadn't eaten it). The mains were extremely disappointing, overcooked schnitzel and yet it was cold. We didn't finish them either. It cost us $73 for a few chips that we enjoyed, the rest was really bad. Will not return.

7 of us came here for dinner, was my turn to choose a restaurant for our monthly ‘guys dinner’. Service was good as was the food, most of us picked and shared the platter (with the exception of one who chose the pork belly). If you love meat you can’t really go wrong here. The meals were complemented with a Panhead APA... all in a rather delicious and enjoyable dinner. Recommended

Absolutely loved the steak I ordered from this restaurant. It was cooked perfectly! Great value for money. You could tell the guy at the store took pride in serving his food & it was reflected in the excellent taste!

Great steak but..

First up I would have to say that my beef ribeye was so good. Full of flavour perhaps in places more rare than medium but the flavour more than compensated. I ask to eat outside and rather than a table number I was given one of those horrid buzzers for my table. This meant that when my food was ready I had to go inside and collect my food. When paying NZ$38 for beef ribs I think this is a bit rich. Secondly I was handed my entree of two chicken empanadas and the steak all at the same time. By the time I finished my steak my empanadas were cold. Not sure if this is a local staffing issue but a buzzer for a dinner like this spoilt the dinner totally

I was feeling a little hungry in a cold and wet day whilst at the Riverside Market. There is so much to choose from there and I found it difficult to make up my mind. We walked into El Quincho and were were immediately met with a smile and warm welcome. The music was great and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The menu and how things were cooked was explained and then we dove into the great and reasonably priced menu. I had Pork Belly with hand cut chips. I was tender with crackle and the taste was stunning. The sauces served as sides were an explosion of taste. If you are looking for great food with a lovely smokey taste, good atmosphere with great service this is the place to go. Also lovely and warm with the bbq/fire. Thanks team we will be back.

My stepdaughter & I, very hungry, late at night with everything getting ready to close and being unfamiliar with the area happened upon The Riverside Market. We spotted their menu outside of their restaurant - which was beautiful with colorful pictures of their fare. We got in just before they closed! Most pictures in menus don't live up to what you see. El Quincho's certainly did. Everything was very fresh and delicious. It is in a very small space but if you have to wait, it won't disappoint! Wonderful Argentinian food!

We had plenty of restaurants to choose from during this pandemic and even on St Patrick’s Day. No one around this night in the main restaurant hub of Christchurch unfortunately for the local industry ??? We were only staying the one night in Christchurch before we headed off on our South Island adventure, and luckily for us we stumbled across this quaint little place. Simple food cooked really well and the vegetables and kumara twice cooked fries were delicious. Watching the chef cook the meats on the open log fire and coal grill was fantastic. Had a great meal and was great value

We went in during the lunch time rush and were wondering if we should stay when we realised that a fair chunk of the customers waiting were from Argentina. Deciding that if they chose the place it had to be good - we waited, got a table and placed the order. Thank God we did. Yum! We had the parrillada and the salad which had beetroot and feta. The meat was just beautifully made. Each meat with its own flavour and so succulent! The house salad was to die for and we could have just had a bowl of that and been happy. Service was wonderful for how busy they were and we will definitely be going back. Sorry, only remembered to take the pic after the first serving was in my tummy. Lol 😂

Just received our order for parrillada for $65 the beef was missing and it would be lucky to feed one oerson. I've noticed a decline in quality, especially things missing in the order but tonight is dismal and I feel ripped off. I'm sorry I took a chance and ordered from here

Ordered two plain burgers for our daughters as part of a larger family order. Two burgers arrived filled with cheese and other dressings (not as described in the menu). We explained that they were not plain as requested and were incredibly shocked by the reaction we recieved. The server refused to accept her mistake or accept that they were not plain and insulted us as we were not from NZ. Wouldn't apologise or exchange the food for a correct order. Told us she would refund the two burgers, but then ejected us from the restaurant, even though we hadn't eaten any of the rest of our meal. Said she needed the table, even though there were other tables empty and no new customers. I asked her why would she eject a family and she just told us to leave and stuck her finger up at us as we left. I asked if we could speak to the manager and she said she was the owner. Absolutely makes no sense at all and ruined the end of such a lovely day.
