Spicy to the point of being inedible (… more chilli than an Asian grocery ) .. to the point where the contents of the two chosen dishes were masked by the fire of the added chilli ..

Lovely setting, great and fast service. Fantastic flavours to both entree and main. Unfortunately the quality of the meat let the meal down. If this had been on point it would’ve been a different experience.
Sumptuous dishes from all over India, beautifully served. Our big family enjoyed a selection of small plates, before sharing a selection of larger ones. Hyderabadi Paneer and generous Dosa some of our favourites. Gorgeous setting (tiled bathroom with pressed tin roof!) and location by the...trams and Victoria Park. Warm, friendly staff. Best Indian banquet food in Christchurch!More
We really enjoyed the great food ( we chose the banquet option ) ,there was plenty of it with lovely flavours and very attentive, friendly service in very pleasant surroundings. We highly recommend Permit Room for a great dining experience.
Wow, it all starts with being greeted by Aman. The hospitality was superb. The food was delicious. Aman could not do enough. Highly recommend.
Food was excellent and so was service. The fish curry was great and so was Butter chicken. We had a small plate portobello mushrooms. The seasoning and spices were wonderful.
Sitting opposite the Crown Hotel, we strolled across for our dinner. Small and large plates so easy to share meals. Really unique flavours and textures and not the usual Indian fare- great thought has gone into the menu. Service was fantastic throughout- attentive but not...over bearing. To start, we had the cauliflower dish and pumpkin dish- small plates. Large plates choices included a dish selection of prawns, lamb and fish. Again. Amazing flavours in each meal.More
Amazing food and service, spice lamb was beautifully cooked and the service by the managers and staff was outstanding. I will recommend this restaurant for amazing experience and food
Whenever we're in Christchurch we always eat here, food is always fantastic and the service exceptional, and it's so nice to be able to see the kitchen in action, a must do if you're in Christchurch
My favourite place in Chch - it wins hands down for consistently great food. I love the menu and I have not tried something that is not top notch! The vegetarian options are super tasty. The food is always brilliant, and I the staff are...always so lovely which really make the whole experience a 'great' one! Thank you, Aman, the two wonderful waitresses this week (sorry I don't have their names) and the two amazing chefs in the kitchen. When I come and say thank you, I really do mean it! I am looking forward to my next trip...More
Fantastic experience. Relaxed and elegant ambiance. Friendly and efficient service and most of all exquisite food! The Gunpowder Cauuliflower and potato were delicious and the keralen fried chicken brought tears to our eyes - spicy! And that mustard sauce yum BUT the star of the...entire experience was the Chettinad Lamb Curry it is DEVINE!! We will be back and will bring friends. Soooo good. Thank you!More
I highly recommend this restaurant, we were walk-ins due to the very close proximity to the Crown Plaza, so very lucky to get a table as the place was fully booked. The food was amazing and wonderful service with just the right level of attention....Our waiter new the intricacies of every dish. I was sad that there were only the 2 of us as I would have liked to try many more of the dishes.More
Lovely atmosphere and the food was delicious. The colada cocktail was sooo good! Would definitely visit again. The only downside was that we were seated at a small table and there were 4 of us. The table was only big enough for 2. We had...made a booking, we weren’t just walk ins. It was difficult with everyone’s water glass, drink, side plate and all the sharing plates. At times we thought food might end up in our lap or on the floor. There were other larger tables in the restaurant that we would have been better seated at. I would recommend that when taking bookings of 4 people they are at a bigger table - it would make the experience a lot more enjoyable!More
First time visiting and we loved it! The service was amazing (sorry I’ve forgotten the waitress’s name), she was super personable and had a great relationship with all the customers. The kai was fantastic too. The only thing I would say is that it was...quite pricey, but worth the cost.More
Wonderful Indian food in a beautiful historic building known as the Isaac House from the 1920s and overlooking the impressive Victoria Square and the historic trams travelling just across the street. Highly recommend, you can order the small plates and share several of them for...a great taste experience, will definitely return! Thanks to Aman for being our host and see you soon, cheers DaveMore
