As you enter you understand that you have arrived in a serious place, two mega smokers at the entrance and American-style wooden tables. I got the brisket for one person but the portions are so large that you could eat it for two. Excellent meat tender to the decisive point and decisive smoking. Super cheap prices considering the quantity and quality

My friend told me about st and I thought I would take my partner for dinner there. I wasn’t let down at all service was great good atmosphere bright and open restaurant lots of people were eating and drinking you could hear each other’s conversation. Now the food was really well priced important in today’s climate we chose the plater for two. The meat was cooked to perfection fall of the bone and tasty I would recommend ST as a great family friendly restaurant top marks guys ps we couldn’t finish our whole meal but brought it home.

There is now a Smokey T's at Riverside Market and that's where I enjoyed my slow cooked lamb burger and cross-cut fries. I don't like garlic and they were very quick to assure me there was none in the lamb. The burger and the fries were very quick to be ready and were fab. The meat was tasty and soft while still having a nice bite to it. The coleslaw had just the right amount of dressing and gave a nice crunch. Loved it.

A big letdown

Don’t have much good to say about our visit. Service was slow and not that friendly. Got moved tables twice after their own mixup. They got my order wrong. The fried chicken burgers were lacking any flavour and I wasn’t a fan of the house made T sauce. Won’t be back again.

Excellent service and definitely value for money. Our waitress Charlie was very accommodating. Her eagerness to help together with her smile made for a very pleasant experience. Time from order to delivery of food was very quick. Orders included Platter for 2 and 1, Burger Pork Belly x 2, Mac and cheese and Southern Fried Chicken. Would definitely recommend Smokey T's.

Great BBQ and I am from Austin TX. The BBQ was good was was the vibe. I had brisket one night and a 1/2 rack of St. Louis ribs the other night with a side of lamb. The brisket was great, the only feedback I would have is that the ‘bark’ did not have as much flavor as I expected (more salt an pepper would fix this, see Aaron Franklin’s method). Ribs were fall of the bone good and the Smokey T’s sauce was a winner. I would highly recommend!

2nd time I've ordered through Uber. South African, we love good, juicy, tender and flavourful meat. Absolutely love pork belly and the pork belly and Mac didn't disappoint. Will definitely come in to try the platter for 2, based on my experience and reviews left by others 💜👌👌👌

Fire and Spice festival Entertainment, plus good food

The Riverside Fire and Spice festival lucked out with mild winter weather. The air was filled with the aroma of smokey BBQ. We had the ribs and they were well seasoned and fell off the bone. Well definitely order again.

Been here twice for lunch, once booked in and today as a walk in. I would recommend booking as Smokey T’s gets busy... because it’s so GOOD. Both times did not disappoint! The staff are so lovely and welcoming, and on the ball with getting your food to you. The meat is all fantastic, especially the brisket, pork belly and ribs.. flag that all of it is 10/10. We got the platter for 2 which has a really good selection and a generous portion of meat along with coleslaw, sauce and tortillas. You certainly leave feeling satisfied! If I could give 6 stars, I would!

Where do I begin! We had early reservations, and when you enter you already know that this restaurant is no hype. The place was busy already. We ordered the 'platter for two' and it was so generous! The taste though was of another level! Their ribs were one of the best we have ever tasted! (Notice the exclamation mark on each sentence hahaha). Service was quick, friendly and unpretentious. We love everything! On our way out, we saw the chefs on the grill and we thanked them for the wonderfully awesome food they have cooked! This is certainly a go to when in Christchurch, and when we are in Christchurch it will be one of those we will frequent. (Makes me wish we have something like this in Auckland!) HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Meat deluxe - these guys do the best smoked pork belly and brisket. The guy on the grill has the broadest most welcoming smile and cooks some of the best smoked meat I've had. Annnnd the waffle fries are next level good

I like how they split up their restaurant into two areas. Ground floor for chill vibes and 1st floor for livelier atmosphere where there are balcony and TV screen for sports and stuff. We had taco beef brisket and half rack ribs with waffle fries. Both meat were soft and easy to chew. Their signature barbecue sauce makes everything more mouth watering. Ribs were perfectly cooked, makes the meat separates from the bone super easy. Good amount of serving. Friendly staff. Will come back for more.

So nice to see what ordinary food can be be turned in to. Humble chips become waffle chips. A burger is served with tasty actually recognizable meat in it and no universal offal patties. Surroundings are "interesting". Staff are young, friendly and efficient. Make sure you bring a good appetite. You will NOT go away hungr. Plenty of nearby parking and to cap it off there's a motorcycle shop across the road!

Stopped for lunch on a Thursday around 12. Not busy but plenty of people arrived while we were there. We tried the $50 sharing platter which is great value and offers a variety of BBQ meat - delicious, with chips and slaw. Heavy on the meat. There are hot sauces on some tables and the staff are friendly. I found the music a bit loud but its not screaming. When looking for a meat based meal this would have to be right up there. Will come back and try the burgers - they looked good.

The set up of this joint is very clever and minimal which means the cost is also reasonable and means we'll be back more often than not. You would be advised to pre-book as we saw only 1 couple get seated as walk in's. The menu is small, varied and appropriate for what they're doing. We had a full selection of the full menu and all was good. The slaw was a bit watery and my least favorite. The ribs were the stand out and very good. Having lived in memphis and also attended the Memphis barbie-cue fest plus been a regular at world famous Corkys, I would LOVE to see Smokey T's do a dry rub as I prefer dry to wet barbecue. Regardless, we will be back. Great, attentive staff who were 100% on the game the whole time. The space could do with ceiling baffles and maybe a rug to dummy down the noise a little downstairs when it's full.
