On a whim we decided to stop in and grab some lunch on a sunny public holiday. The balcony overlooking the Avon River was very busy but there were plenty of seats inside.
We grabbed a booth and ordered a burger each. All the burgers were $24 each and we had a selection of fish, beef and chicken. Unfortunately the chicken burger didn't really have much flavour but the beef was really delicious. The staff were also very accommodating in swapping out fries for salad on one of the burgers.
We thought the booths were a bit uncomfortable and the music was rather random but if you are after a decent meal at a decent price you can't really go wrong.

When in Christchurch Craft Embassy is an absolute must on your restaurant list. My husband and I are Christchurch folk and frequent a number of restaurants. Craft is one of two restaurants in the central city we regularly frequent. Why? Because the food and service is consistently excellent. They don't miss a beat. There is a range of excellent craft beers. However, for those wine lovers (like myself), there is a fabulous range of fine wines. They also know how to make coffee! So if you want an all round excellent dining experience (which doesn't cost a second mortgage), put Craft Embassy at the top of your list - and make sure you try the Duck Salad which is outstanding.

Last night we found ourselves home alone and I felt like some good food and beer, so where else to go but The Craft Embassy. It was our first dining out experience since the country went into Level 4 Lockdown. We had to sign in and were largely only served by one person, a lovely waitress who only began work just prior to lockdown. She was lovely, checked on us often and had great banter. It was different having table service only, but we really enjoyed this and the food on the starter menu was really well cooked and presented: we had Pulled Beef Cheek Tostadas and Twice Cooked Pork Belly which were so good, our main (chicken burger) seemed ordinary in comparison. All food was good but those starters were bang on. I restricted myself to McLeod's beers (having visited their Waipu wood fired barn I am a huge fan) so Longboarder was a tame Pilsner and Great Migration a solid IPA with more of a malty hit. My friend Stu had a tasting tray featuring Raptor APA, Falcon Pale Ale, Jungle Juice IPA and Sacred Red IPA from Upper Hutt. It is a bit weird visiting a craft beer eatery that you have to select via the website, but honestly last night was my most enjoyable dining out experience in a long time. I could get used to Covid restrictions but I know it can't be as profitable for the team at Craft Embassy. Thanks for ANOTHER great night!

Came in for a meeting with a client and the service was great and accommodating even though I hadn’t booked.
Friendly staff offered dinner menus with beer recommendations and full table service in the glass house. Burgers are delish and will be back again!

Turned up for dinner on out First Night in Christchurch, We sat outside and was offered a blanket and water bottle, The food was amazing, I had a burger + my partner had the steak, Both were very well cooked and value for money. They had an amazing drinks range as well. After getting a bit cold they had no issue with us moving inside for our dessert + final drinks, The staff were very friendly and attentive.

Great service by knowledgeable staff, they remember their customers and the personal touch is really appreciated in this crazy time. Food was beautiful, the chorizo and potato salad had just the right balance of ingredients, so fresh for a spring day. Fantastic selection of craft beers (as always) for hubby on Fathers Day.

We stopped in around 10 PM on a Thursday, and this 2nd floor bar was 3/4 full. The bartenders helped us decide what to order by letting us try some small samples of a couple of their beers. There is not a published beer menu since the bartender said they rotate them fairly often. Several of the craft beers are priced quite high ($15NZ), but I found a couple that I liked. The toilets were clean, and we appreciated that they did not charge us an extra surcharge since it was a holiday (Boxing Day).

While the customer service is top notch at The Craft Embassy, the food is dreadful. We ordered some basics - fries, garden salad and market vegetables. All of them were horrible. The fries, although hot, were full of oil, the garden salad tasteless and the market vegetables a sad and unappetizing selection of half cooked, charred brussel sprouts, limp chewy/stringy broccoli and watery spinach. I would be embarrassed to serve this at my home, let alone a well-known restaurant. Such a shame, because the environment was pleasant, the staff lovely and the beer selection epic. The food really left a bad taste in our mouths and gave us both upset stomachs.

Went here on a lovely Sunday afternoon and enjoyed, great friendly service and food. It was really nice to sit out on the veranda and watch the people go by. The burgers we got were just the perfect size for lunch, not too big or too small.

My friends, family and I have been frequent visitors to The Craft Embassy since it opened. The food, service and selection of beers has always been first class. The staff are friendly and know their beers, which is important given the wide range available. On the food front, we usually go for the burgers which are as good as any and excellent value for money.
Most of the staff have been there as long as we have been visiting, which is always a good sign in the hospitality sector.

The staff had a great knowledge of the beers on offer and steered us towards some beauts. There is a really good selection of food on the menu, it's orientated towards sharing plates - we really enjoyed all the dishes. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We are looking forward to returning.

We had a group of 8 people and the service was brilliant - everyone had burgers and chicken, beef and vegan ones were excellent. wines and beers were awesome, and beautiful location. Just got a bit hot on the deck around 3pm and it would be nice to have an awning ....

Service was great, food was yummy and we had a fabulous evening. The cocktails were great and the staff were really accommodating when it came to dietary requirements. The only suggestion we have is that we felt there wasn’t quite enough cheese or bread on the cheese platter for the price charged, another couple of slices of bread and slightly larger slices of cheese and we think you have it nailed.

We sat outside on the balcony and enjoyed lunch. The food was very tasty (perhaps a little expensive). The beer was great, a big selection but no offers of a taste or help to select something. While the balcony was busy there was plenty of space inside.

Wow - what a find. Venture up to level one and you’ll find a bevy of beer and food.
I had a delightful Tuesday evening - overlooking the Avon River and enjoying the huge selection of craft beer and delicious bites from the bar menu (fried chicken, mac’n’cheese balls and calamari.
I was so impressed that ALL bar snacks were Gluten Free - a rarity.
I’ll be back.
