While I have not eaten at the Cafe I have been to the Exchange to see a couple of documentry type movies that have been put on by interest groups/clubs. Its an ideal location as its intimate and not like a large hall/theatre, where conversation...More

The cafe is located in a repurposed pickling factory from Christchurch past, and it has that wonderful, history layered atmosphere that you just can't get in a new or badly refurbished building. The food is fresh and caters for varied dietary preferences and the coffee...More

Thanks so much for your comments :) We try to offer something for everyone! Don't have much of a kitchen, just a super amazing talented team (and barista omgah)! Glad you find the space useful and looking forward to hosting you next time!

In an unassuming building in an industrial area of Christchurch, lies this cafe which uses local produce in all of its recipes. There's no set menu - you just take your pick of cabinet food available for the day. Local artists are in residence, too,...More

Exchange (XCHC) is a mixed-use cafe/bar and creative hub for people to connect, teams/groups to collaborate, and meet others in the community. There's a makerspace where artists and creatives co-work, and the seating for the cafe is in a showcase venue with rotating exhibitions, so expect different art shows. Because we have accommodation above the cafe, we get to host international artists and guests who bring in new creativity A few social purposes: 1. Connect the public with creative cool things and events 2. Be a platform for our chefs to explore their culinary creativity while supporting local suppliers and producing healthy, real food. 3. We believe strongly in building an inclusive community, so we offer work experience to people who may not normally be given such opportunities. 4. All revenue goes directly to purpose/our community; not shareholders (i.e Social Enterprise) We cater the events if your looking for a venue. Vegan | Pet Friendly | Wifi | Local | Licensed
