Two for one Bluff oysters today and we certainly had two doz of these tasty morsels. Followed by the beef Wellington, superbly cooked, and Tarimasu. Top rate. Wifey had a 200gm fillet steak with mushroom sauce (annd the blue cheese sauce to keep her options...open) and again cooked to perfection. Server was the lovely Nikki. Lovely to sit outside with a typical Christchurch slight frost in the morning followed by a glorious sunny day.More

Excellent evening for two gemini friends celebrating our birthdays. Risotto absolutely delicious - I asked for my Risotto to be spicy and some chorizo to be added - no problem. Very pleasant service staff and prompt with drinks. Most enjoyable evening.

Reasonable selection of food, cooked to order. Quite a few tables inside as well as out. Lots of TV screens showing sport but it's not overpowering. Service good and polite. We were there mid-week and it was fairly quiet but apparently at the weekend (Saturday)...it's really busy. Booking easy online. Would recommend.More

Visited No4 on a sunny Saturday lunchtime. Food was very good. We had a shared entree of pan fried Dumplings. Mains we chose were Fish Tacos and Pie of the Day (Steak & Blue Cheese). Mains were good however only a handful of handcut chips...(less than 10) with the pie and it really needed another seasonal veg on top of the small amount of Corn you get. Beer selection good. Seating inside or out. Free parking close by. Service from waitress was excellent if not perfect. Friendly and she also noticed if the drinks were getting low.More

There is nothing to fault at No 4. Food, ambiance, service, all 5/5. We had the dumplings, green vege, and a salad. All freshly made and delicious.

We've dined at No. 4 on a couple of previous occasions and thought this would be a great place to celebrate our 59th Wedding Anniversary, especially as their online booking page asked if this was a special occasion (to which I responded appropriately). While the...staff were friendly and welcoming, not once through the time we were there, was there any reference to the fact, nor any special recognition of the occasion. The meal was not exceptional and certainly not up to the standard of our previous visits, especially my Lamb-burger, which was quite dry, though the accompaniments were tasty enough. However, I must add that my wife's warm chicken salad was somewhat more acceptable. No. 4, you could do better.More

Visiting Chch on a week off work and was recommended to visit No 4. There are so many great dishes on offer but I settled for the 350gm ribeye steak which was cooked perfectly ! Not only is the food and atmosphere outstanding but we were welcomed and by the lovely Bella who took care to attend to our needs. Bella was able to recommend some delicious dishes and gave us just the right amount of attention (it was "date-night")...while still keeping an eye out when our glasses needed topping up.
