Gramado’s will be closed from the 24th of December till the 2nd of January. We reopen on the 3rd of January ready for amazing 2020! Merry Christmas and a fabulous 2020 to all of you. Inspired by a small town in southern Brazil, part of the state Rio Grande do Sul, Gramado city is renowned for its fine wine, international cuisine and chocolate. Come in to a cosy, warm place for dinner or drinks. Enjoy the homestyle atmosphere, the little bar and separate dining areas. Please note we do not allow B.Y.O or Corkage.

Having heard many great reports about this restaurant my husband and I decided to give it a go.
We were not disappointed the service and food were excellent.
We started with the Cassava cakes and salt and pepper squid. Having never tried Cassava, which is a little like Taro but pure white. Both were deep fried and very tasty.
The Owner is Front of House and extremely helpful with selecting both wine and food. He is quite a character and seems to love interacting with the patrons. The other staff members that served us were very knowledgeable and on the ball.
Our main courses consisted of a Rib Eye Steak which was very good and cooked med rare how it was ordered and the Orange Roughy fish also very tasty served in a coconut cream sauce with a tasting plate of various chilies which could be added, a nice touch.
Our desert was simply delicious Chocolate Brownie served with a house caramel sauce in which salt and ground pepper were added giving it a unique delicious flavor also served with a very nice ice cream.
A good selection of wines which you can taste first before ordering another nice touch.
Would highly recommend this restaurant but you must book to avoid disappointment, the owner told us they book out most Friday and Saturday nights. We were there on a Tuesday night, we had booked ,and their were very busy.
We will definitely go back.

Ate there twice on our recent visit to Blenheim and the Sounds: second visit was because there were even more interesting items on the menu we wanted to try! Saulo's very attentive and ebulliant service makes this place- and his enthusiasm and éfficiency extends to all his staff including his chefs. The boringly named "'çassava cakes'' detracted attention away from what were the best potato type croquettes I have eaten [and the portion huge for an entree, best shared by two] and the individual cheesy cakes were just wonderful, baked fresh and served hot, fragrant and rich with mild cheese.The luxury of Renaissance beers on tap-even their Scotch Ale ,my favourite winter NZ craft beer -and an excellent wine list featuring lots of local as well as South American wines at reasonable prices really complimented this restaurant. While bookings help, just go even without a booking as the staff will do everything possible to fit you in. Its not elegant food but its hearty, very flavoursome and satisfying as well as good value for money.

Everything was well done here, from the atmosphere to the customer service, the food, the drinks! I couldn’t fault it. I love that they do half size portioned meals for when you want to eat but just cannot do a full meal. We got the dish of the day for entree which was a seafood shepherds pie and boy was it amazing!! So creamy and cheesy with that cassava mash, it was amazing! I got a tasty cocktail called batilda? I may be getting that wrong but it was amazing. For mains I got the lamb and my partner got the smoked lamb fettuccine which was one of the specials for the night. We were too full for dessert but it was nice of them to give us a taste of the cheesecake. Lovely dinner and amazing service. Thank you

Oi if this is the best restaurant in Blenheim the others must be really really bad! We ordered the steaks ... they were really chewy and honestly lacking in flavor. The service was ok but we often had to call a server. The fries and Brazilian balls, doused in chilli were the highlight.

The food, service,wine, everything was top notch. The waitress explained everything on the menu in great detail and we knew exactly what we were getting. The main guy on the floor Saulo(sorry if I'm getting the name wrong) was extremely welcoming and clearly takes great pride in the customers having a positive experience.
We ordered the starters cassava cakes and escondidinho(filling on night was prawns). Both were extremely tasty and good size for starters. Mains were pork belly (moist and tender with really crispy crackling presented beautifully) and the Brazilian fish Moqueca in creamy coconut sauce. For dessert, we shared the chocolate raspberry volcano which was out of this world. There was even a little chilli tasting plate with the fish that created a very unique experience. Paired with two glasses of Malbec, the dinner was just a culinary delight. Cannot recommend enough and really could not understand this place getting less than 4-5 stars.

A special evening out to celebrate a 42nd Wedding Anniversary. All of the staff were exceptionally helpful, patient and kind. We believe the Chefs should be awarded the equivalent to Michelin Stars !! The entrees and main dishes were divine, very creative and so beautifully presented. We were treated to a sampler dish of various varieties of chilli, some of which we had never encountered before, wow! Thank You So Much Gremados, your kindness towards us went a long way to turn a very special occasion in to a very memorable evening.

Having had a bad experience last evening was a bit wary. No need. This was fantastic. The service and staff actually knew what they were selling and more importantly cared
The food was really good. The lamb was great as was the black bean chorizo stew
So tasty
The chilli sampler a lovely touch. We are from Singapore and demolished them
Great wine
Cannot praise this high enough only give 5* because no 10*

We read rave reviews about Gramado’s and were determined to try it during our short stay in Blenheim: and we weren’t disappointed!
They have very unique Brazilian dishes, and the 2 we ordered were delicious! If you like your food spicy, they will offer a platter of Brazilian chillies - from the mild to the really spicy ones.
Everyone in the restaurant was very friendly and genuine, and will bring a smile to your face. They even took out a photography flashlight to help a couple with illuminating their mobile phone picture, haha.
Wish they opened an outlet in Singapore!

Quite simply, excellent food, great hospitality, great fun. Your host, Saulo, treats you like family. He brought a vibrant personal flare to our evening making suggestions for what to order and brought special tastings to our table.

A group of us had a great night here celebrating a birthday ...Food & service great as well but when I went to pay for everyone, I was asked if I would like to add a tip at a certain % for the staff !! ... I was taken aback by this as even though I had an option, I felt pressured to add a tip. Thought that us in NZ tipped voluntarily ? ....To top the night off we were charged $20 to bring a cake in. Don't mind the cost but when I rang up to see if we could bring one with us, the answer was yes but there was no mention of the cost : (

Amazing experience from start to finish. It was our first time at Gramado’s ( we live in Richmond ) and they didn’t disappointed. Service was friendly and genuine, food was just like I remembered from my childhood in Brazil and Saulo and his team really know how to make you feel at home. Highly recommended and I’m back here for work on Tuesday, coming back for seconds.

A restaurant that others could learn by. Was greeted upon arrival and was very friendly. Everything was explained well. Even though they were busy the food came out in great timing and the meat was the tenderist I have ever tasted. Couldn't fault the meal at all from the entree to the dessert.

First-time customer and from the get-go was welcomed like royalty. The front of house team worked so seamlessly together and I acknowledge the quality of staff that this establishment has nurtured. From explaining the menu through to providing a quality choice of fine wines liqueurs and beers I was blown away by the hospitality and thoroughly recommend the eatery should you find yourself in Blenheim. I would also encourage those travelling through that you might like to try their menu before continuing either north or south. You will need to book as it is extremely popular by the locals, and that showed. Will be back for sure.

The Assado dish (NZ lamb ) is one of my favourites . Can highly recommend this tender and succulent lamb (good size) dish . Sat on top of NZ seasonal veggies and potato.
Also the Brazilian Pudim dessert was fantastic to finish off with . (It was to me like a cream brûlée without the crunch on top) Egg and condensed milk base with cream on top . Yum!!
We shared starters with 5 of us , beautifully cooked breads and pesto, and also the Brazilian cheese balls .
Great selection of NZ and Brazilian wines and also beers and spirits available.
You need to go here and make sure you book!!!!!!

Best restaurant in NZ so far! The service was excellent - friendly, responsive to cues but not overbearing. They even let us taste the guava glaze before we ordered because we had never had it! The food was delicious — a great mix of authentic Brazilian food with a NZ twist. The lamb Assado was rich and tasted great while the pork belly special was so unique. Incredible experience.
