Terrible service waited 2 hours for meal to come out and pricy as well. I booked but they could not find the booking so we waited 1/2 an hour and when we came back we waited more than 1 hour 45 minutes for our meal....We had family from Sydney come over they had never experienced such poor serviceMore

Unusual for me to want to write a bad review but this place deserves a serve for a number of reasons: 1. Greeting: not warm too casual. Not business like 2. Waiter and serving staff: Excellent 3. Wine list: inadequate and over priced 4. Menu:...where do I start? Not great. Nowhere near enough choice. Complicated but good for vegetarians. I can’t ever remember my wife and I struggling as much with what to order. 5. Food: I had the chicken- crazy, who goes out for chicken? Thought it might be special and it was anything but. Undercooked. Strange sauce. Kentucky fried must be better. Watched a table hoe into the beef (850g), which would do well served at a Barbecue for Southern men at best. 6. Space and ambience: it’s good space with great atmosphere. Sadly they manage it badly. I had someone’s backside up against mine - not great when you are paying these very full prices. They need to develop an awareness of customer needs and wants 7. The Bill, the payment- and farewell: all pretty good Enough - they told me they are reviewing the menu - the need to do this soon. And they need to review what the kitchen is doing. Soon - or they will go bust. Serving staff may enable them to live a while.... but they need a sensible menu soon. And the Chef needs to put quality meals on the tableMore

We went to Egmont street eatery this week. The pork and fish mains were awesome. Nice atmosphere, and good service. I have one criticism though the wine and beverage prices are ridiculously high. $19 for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc for a variety that is...$35 a bottle in the supermarket. At this price the cost charged is about $95 a bottle, nearly three times the price. Only one person in our group of four drank wine because the price makes it liquid gold. I noticed not a lot of other diners were drinking either. Come on, it's time for more reasonable prices. For this reason we won't be returning.More

Very busy cafe. The service was prompt and the food was great. I had the granola and the amount you got for the price was superb and it was delicious. Great coffee too. nice atmosphere.

There was nothing not to love about ESE, the menu was hard to choose from because everything sounded great and the flexible wine selection format is a real bonus and good value. Kingfish crudo was fresh and delightful, the stracciatella with tamarillo was perfect. The...mains of lamb and beef were tender and showed real skill in the kitchen. The rum and coconut sponge was light on rum which wasn't evident to tastebut still an enjoyable end to the meal, the berry gelato was better bet. The housemade limoncello was a really great way to finish. It was great to experience a restaurant where the place was both relaxed and the food standards were high. Service was also pretty good on the whole, the person who looked after us was delightful.More

Wonderful food, with a great wine menu. Enjoyed perfectly cooked snapper and grilled fresh asparagus, while my husband had rump steak with grilled broccoli.

Fantastic food - I never dreamed that vegetables like cauliflower and broccolini could taste so great! And the Edith Piaff cocktail was wonderful. The service was excellent - the staff were friendly and attentive and we appreciated the delicious extras that they brought to make...up for a delay before serving. Love that this eatery is bucking the trend of not taking bookings and requiring walk-in only. We'll be backMore
