We live round the corner and pop in every so often with the kids (or when we can without them!). Every time we turn up the team are really welcoming and helpful which sets the tone as to the focus of the KVP. There is a good range of beers which change often and the staff are always happy for you to taste them. The current owners have revamped the food menu and priced it well so you are encouraged to return more often than just for the one off special occasion. The food is really good and the burgers sublime... We really love this place and it’s so good to have a local that you enjoy supporting. Of course it’s not just for locals - everyone is welcome!!

We went with my family for dinner. The owner and the staff were so accommodating, attentive and friendly. The food was amazing. So much so that my daughter, a very picky eater, loved the burger and chips. My steak was perfectly cooked and the pork belly my partner ordered was so good I stole a bit. We felt so comfortable, and everything was so amazing in every aspect, I just had to recommend.

I love this place. My wife and I pop in every two weeks or so and whilst we are certainly not 'locals' the bar manager usually remembers what she drinks. The beer taps change often and the service is good.
I have read some of the other reviews and feel some have an expectation of a five start restaurant when its a local pub.
I have found the food really good.
Keep it up and hope the person who wrote the review under your name instead of Kelburn Cafe removes the post.

Had dinner on a Saturday night with a group of six friends. The restaurant was very busy and we had to wait some time for our booked table. Once at the table the service was really poor and only got worse across the night. Had to ask for additional drinks, water, salt and pepper etc. Plates weren’t cleared quickly and we were not offered desert or coffee. That said, the food was very nice. Having to wait two hours to get our main courses is not ok. The restaurant got quieter but the service didn’t improve and it really felt like they couldn’t be bothered. The service at Kelburn Village Pub falls far short of the Wellington standard.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are very sorry to hear about your experience - it is certainly not the experience we aim to give our customers. We had a very unusual situation on Saturday night in that there was an issue that effected the operation of several key pieces of our kitchen equipment. In addition one of our staff had been in an accident and unable to work. We have offered all of the customers impacted by this a meal on the house. I'm sorry to hear that you were not offered this as well. We would like the chance to make things right and are happy to offer you a meal on the house. Our sincere apologies for this unusual and unfortunate experience.

I took my family here for dinner. The pub itself looked tired and like it had come straight out of the 1980s. The meals were below average in both quality and portion size. The burgers were small, with tiny patties. The tacos looked like they were snack size. The fries were uninspiring and no condiments were offered with the fries. I will strongly suggest dropping down the hill into the city proper to have a better meal with better portions for the same price.

Dear mrbaijanke, Thanks very much for taking the time to leave us a detailed review. It's been a long time since we've received such a negative review, but we always appreciate a different perspective. We are an old school pub, so we're not surprised that you were reminded of the 1980s. Our menu is tapas style and smaller portions are expected with this style of dining. However, we put a huge amount of care into our food and stand by its quality and price. The vast majority of our customers and reviews reflect that what we offer is quality food and personal service for a fair price . That being said, not everyone appreciates what we offer. We have a 100% customer satisfaction policy and would have offered a replacement or refund if you had expressed your disappointment to us on the night. We are still happy to offer some compensation if you would like to contact us by email.

A lovely local pub in this village location. We were taken by friends and their family. I had a great burger. The rest also enjoyed their food in a lovely ambience made better by the efficient knowledgeable and helpful staff. Will certainly return on our next visit to Wellington

We booked a table and went for a burger and beer. Two couples. Food was really good; tasty burgers and fries at reasonable prices. One veggie had a good choice too. Beer was good (two on-tap varieties tasted) and the service was fast and friendly. Will definitely be back.

What a great bar this is! Just off the village ‘high street’ tucked up so you would only know about it if your one of the locals or in the know. It’s a great bar with good food amd drink options. Beat of all is the outdoor space where you can gaze down the Aro Valley with a cheeky pint. Well recommended.

What great pub!
What a team!
Fun times at quiz night with Savage and superb onto it service.Isaac and his team are friendly and attentive and the kitchen puts out quality food. Yummy authentic pizza anda to die for asian salad .

Great welcome by the staff.
Excellent food, the short rib had a wonderful Teriyaki sauce with perfectly cooked vegetables.
The home made lemon tart was a winner, while my wife had the Wontun banana boats, a lovely variety of a classic dish.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, accompanied by some good drinks.
Recommended.

After checking into our bnb we’re looking for a mid priced option that was casual. Kilburn village pub fitted the bill Mickey with excellent steak, great wine and beer and a sticky datepudding you would have to go a long way to beat.

Thank you to the staff who not only made sure we were fed but also gave us a warm place to watch the rugby!!
Staff are awesome, very attentive and made sure we were comfortable.
