Location and contact

Basque is based on the eating and drinking style of Northern Spain with its streets of bustling tapas bars. We offer an array of non-veg, vegetarian, gluten free and some vegan on request mouthwatering tapas and homemade pizzas, which are designed to complement the range of 12 craft tap beers and ciders, (and another five taps on the rooftop bar), imported Spanish and local wines and our extensive sangria menu. Grab a carafe of sangria, plonk on the rooftop, and watch Courtenay Place pass by beneath you.

Went here for a late night drink with my bf and sat on the rooftop bar which was cute. They have heaters and blankets if it gets cold. Had a glass of wine each which was good. Didn't eat so not sure about the food.

Waited at the bar to be served, the guy behind the bar clearly saw us waiting but decided to serve everyone else first. Even people walking straight up. We were completely ignored and it was very obvious for everyone to see. Also another comment from...More

....When sunny obviously, which it was the day I visited with work colleagues. What a great place. To start with hats and sun screen supplied .. it is a roof top after all and the sun shone brilliantly. Secondly, Estrella on tap for the authentic...More

This is a place that can't do a brandy and dry - they think ginger beer = ginger ale ( maybe too many alcopops?). And don't even bother asking for an old fashioned. Poorly trained staff, poor drinks, and kinda Scungy. Avoid.

I went to Basque with 3 friends and the food was excellent. We ordered about 8 or 9 dishes, including a meat platter and it came to $25 a head, very good value for what we got. The staff have clearly taken on board some...More

Had a working lunch at Basque a month ago. The food was great, but initially it seemed as if the place wasn't open. It took a while for us to be noticed - even though we were the ONLY guests in the restaurant. Three fatally...More

I'm a frequent visitor to Basque. The atmosphere is always lively and the rooftop bar has plenty of space, nice decor and enough heaters when Wellington weather gets a bit nippy.

Shared 4 tapas plates among 3 of us - veg, spicy calamari, serrano ham - and enjoyed them all, followed by a plate of chilli chocolate truffles. Our waiter was excellent - friendly and attentive. A very cold and windy night in Wellington so we...More
