Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a good little spot serving fab coffee. Whilst the hotcakes were OK perhaps some different breakfast options may have been more to my taste. Not certain I would rush back but if passing it would be hard to not have a coffee

We found Tuatua hugging the waterfront after a visit to Te Papa, and the stop did not disappoint. There was one staff member who was responsible for all aspects of service including cooking. She deserved a medal. Efficient and timely regarding all aspects of cafe service and the customer count. I had the venison burger and a latte which was probably the best coffee I had during my few days in Wellington. The burger was quaint, fresh, juicy and the relish it was laced with was a hit. Given the waterside location and the burgers were $10.50, I would consider Tuatua a light bite bargain.

What a fabulous venture! Ethical and sustainable. Such friendly staff. A good menu given the small kitchen. On visit one I had a cup of tea and a slice of Shelly Bay Bakery fruit toast. On my second visit I had a pot of leaf tea (plus a pot of hot water) and a cracking caramelised onion toastie.

Only stopped for a cuppa and toastie but they couldn’t have been nicer. So friendly, great spot right by the waterfront and very peaceful. Thank you for recharging our batteries! And it was a gluten free toastie, yeah!!

Stopped here for breakfast and felt very welcomed. We Had the Angus beef burger which was outstanding at such a good price. Also had the bagel with cream cheese which was light and tasty. Good work team

A cheerful little cafe on the Wellington waterfront. The coffee was pretty good , as is the view. I was less thrilled by the burger

Hot cakes were delicious. Unique combination of ingredients. Good coffee and great location. Let down as claims to be ‘eco responsible’ but everything was served in single use cups, cutlery etc. Yes it’s compostible ‘PLA’ single use, but it’s still plastic that just breaks down into smaller plastic particles. What’s wrong with washing up plates and cups? Company’s that really care about the environment need to move away from single use

Whilst visiting Wellington recently and strolling along Wellington's waterfront promenade to the nearby museums, we stopped off at Tuatua Cafe for a flat white coffee. We were served in a timely manner by an attentive young guy. This little cafe is situated in a busy waterfront location between the main business district of Wellington along the waterfront to the popular Wellington museums. It has a great outside seating area with water views. The coffees were served in takeaway containers. We cannot comment on the food as we only had a coffee which was to our satisfaction.

We had a dreadful experience at this cafe. First I got a sour tasting full cream cappuccino when I'd ordered a trim. Then They forgot our food order and were busy rolling cigarettes behind the counter when we asked where The food was. When we got the food it was not what we ordered. They were all apologies but it didn't make up for the bad experience. Wouldn't go back

Four of us sat outside waiting for our food but all we could here was the waitress now behind the counter jabbering on about things she had done in the last few days. She never stopped to take breathe The food was average Avoid

Have been to this little cafe under Frank Kitts Park a few times now, the food has been delicious every time - have tried every vegetarian option on the menu! Would recommend the kumara and blackbean burger, although I hear the venison one is amazing too. Friendly service, great atmosphere, food arrives quick. Great place!
