My family and I came here for high tea for my Aunt's 60th birthday. From the moment we walked in the door of the hotel we were made to feel special. We were offered an excellent selection of teas which were poured for us, and was in continuous supply. We were offered a beautiful selection of savoury and sweet items- savoury: cheese scones, pepper and onion bruschetta, cucumber sandwiches and falafel (we originally thought this was odd but tried it and loved it!), sweet: brandy snaps (best I've ever had), caramel slice, bliss balls, mini chocolate muffins and christmas tarts. The service was impeccable. Would highly recommend coming here for high tea, and we plan on coming back in the future.

Stayed in the accompanied hotel for two nights and ate breakfast at the Artisan buffet both mornings. First morning was rough...the buffet had been ravaged by the local professional soccer team just prior to our arrival. Understandable....the restaurant team worked diligently to replenish the offerings. Day two went much better. Excellent and fresh food.

We normally do not eat in hotels but the drink desk did a wonderful sales pitch. This was a wonderful experience with the best lamb ever and great wine and service. The restaurant is not too big so would recommend going and booking well in advance...

This is a classy place with superbly prepared food and great service. Surprisingly good for a hotel, because the restaurant caters for guests of the hotel as well as for discerning diners. I took my partner there recently for a birthday celebration: had a flight of canapes – four delicious morsels and also some lovely paté. This was followed with an excellent venison pie on mash with wonderfully tender and flavoursome meat, and the chicken ballotine which was breast stuffed with pistachio nuts. A couple of glasses of wine and coffees rounded out the meal. Delightful evening.

The menu is not updated and some are not available with regards to cocktail. The dining menu has been scaled down due to Covid restrictions. Just disappointed that the risotto, the rice is crunchy but very tasty though like the rest of the dishes we had including the dessert. I like the set up of the place. Disappointed that no birthday plate was provided even they asked what the reason for dinning

Good Morning, Many thanks for your review, we're always looking for ways to improve, particularly during the challenging climate of Covid restrictions. We always aim to keep our produce seasonal, with changing supplies, occasionally our offering can change before we get a chance to update our menus. We're working hard to ensure this doesn't occur going forward and hope to have a new, expanded menu available in the new year. Work is already underway on designing this and we hope to welcome you back to try it! Warm regards, Paul

What a wonderful afternoon celebrating a birthday - the service was excellent and was impressed and thankful they were so accommodating with a dietary requirement. Even a special treat for the ‘Birthday Boy’ - a lovely touch. The selection and quality of the delicious treats were the perfect size - complimenting the premium TWG tea.

We were walk in's and were accommodated early thanks to a helpful concierge. The meal completely exceeded expectations and was good value for money. We only had mains due to constrained time but you get an amuse bouche and bread to start. The snapper with clams was perfectly cooked and the lamb loin with carrots four ways was as good as lamb gets. The carrot puree was divine. Indeed it was so good we could have returned the next day to have it again. Presentation was beautiful and the service was fine. The wine list was really good. We had no time for dessert but the coffee was excellent.

We had dinner here one of the evenings we were staying in the Bolton Hotel. The food was lovely we shared some breads, as well as sharing steak - beautifully cooked and presented, with lovely flavours. We also tried out the dessert menu! Well worth a visit, the level of service was also excellent.

Very disappointed with what was on the website menu's as opposed to what was actually available. If we had known prior to arriving we would not have dinned there. Entrees and mains very limited for choice, the pate was more of a terrine and looked liked and had the consistency of a dog roll. Main fish overcooked and dry, the restaurant also lacked atmosphere and felt like a cafe. Sadly will never go back or recommend it. Please take the old pictures of your dishes off your site as very few are actually available.

Thank you for sharing your feedback, and we sincerely apologize for any disappointment you experienced during your recent visit. We're surprised by your description of our restaurant, as it underwent a luxurious refurbishment over the Christmas period, reopening last February with opulent gold finishes, marble, and warm woods. It's the first time we've received feedback suggesting it lacks atmosphere or resembles a cafe. Regarding the menu, we recently updated it, and both the Artisan website and TripAdvisor were promptly refreshed with the management-supplied photos reflecting these changes. The online menus were also updated to accurately mirror the new offerings. We regret to hear that the pate de campagne did not meet your expectations. A quick online search will reveal that this dish is indeed more akin to a terrine than a smooth pate. We're sorry if this wasn't made clear during your dining experience. Your concerns about limited choices for entrees and mains, as well as the overcooked fish, are taken seriously. We are continuously working to refine our offerings, and your input will be invaluable in this process. We understand your decision not to return, but we hope you might reconsider. Please be assured that we are addressing your concerns internally, and we would appreciate another opportunity to exceed your expectations.

I am usually dubious about a lot of hotel restaurants as they can disappoint. This certainly was not the case with Artisan during my stay at The Bolton Hotel and I ate here twice and was very impressed with my meals. I had a beautiful steak the first night and the venison pie the second, both were delicious. I have had catering training in the past, in fact completed the same course and have the same qualifications as Mary Berry, but am ten years younger! I have cooked professionally and more recently in a volunteer capacity so feel somewhat qualified to give praise where it is due, my congratulations to the chef and team at Artisan, two of the best restaurant meals I have had in many weeks. I did suggest to one of the waiters the music was a bit weird though, perhaps that could be tweaked, some soft jazz might be nice! The Bolton us a great place to stay and you must dine in when staying there.

Excellent hotel restaurant. Buffet is not huge but everything is fresh and plentiful. Reasonable if added to your hotel room rate. Breakfast starts at 6:30AM. Sarah the main staff in charge is excellent and warmly remembered us from our previous visits here (5 th time ). There is also fresh cooked to order breakfast available too.

We decided to treat ourselves to High Tea and were both very impressed with the warm, relaxed atmosphere. The service could not be faulted and we felt the treat was certainly a treat. Such happy staff. That says a lot these days. Thank you!

We dined at Artisan as we were staying at the Bolton. The food was so delicious and beautifully presented. I especially enjoyed the vegetarian aubergine main, so so tasty. Another of our party is a Coeliac and he was delighted by the well labeled menu and the large choice of gluten free dishes in the menu. Thank you to all the staff for the stress free, delicious and well thought out dining experience at Artisan.

We utilised this restaurant twice during our stay at the Bolton Hotel. Firstly the Mother’s Day high tea. This was very nice, albeit it pricey at $50 per head, but we all agree it was paying for the experience, not the food/tea so that made it worth it. The second usage was for breakfast. Although the staff are absolutely lovely and can’t do enough for you, the food itself (from the hot buffet) was extremely average. This is a real pity as it undermines everything else at the Bolton.

While the menu at Artisan is not extensive, there was a good range of dishes - and what we had was both enjoyable and nicely presented. The service was very good. Even if you are not a guest at Bolton Hotel (and I recommend that too), it is a lovely place for a quiet meal.
