I really enjoyed this traditional Japanese snack. It had red bean paste in it which is a must try for it's sweet flavour and unique texture. The crust is light and crispy on the outside. It's also quite a nice size and can work as...a small lunch with the flat white macha tea. Really good.More

A tiny unassuming place tucked away at the top of the steps serving only the best matcha (Japanese green tea) and taiyaki (fish-shaped cakes with tasty fillings), always prepared with great care and a smile. The menu is very minimal- usually there are 3 flavors...of taiyaki to choose from, a few variations of matcha are offered as well. It's a perfect morning or afternoon snack, tastes great and will leave you feeling great too!More

The menu is small, and I've tried nearly all of it and everything is so delicious! Excellent service and amazing food and drinks! Highly recommend it!

Needed a little afternoon snack so I walked up the steps to TaiyaKiwi. I chose the custard-filled taiyaki--Yum! The taiyaki is waffle-like in texture, shaped like a fish (the traditional perch) and made to order, served piping hot in a paper wrapper. Service was friendly...and fast. What a lovely touch of Japan in Wellington! :-)More

We saw the sign at the bottom of Plummet Steps - it is a short trek up and completely worth it! The service was top shelf: the gentleman came out to greet us and talk about taiyaki when he saw us looking at the menu....The taiyaki was made fresh on the spot and it was perfect! Super nice pastry and that was both crispy and soft and it was COMPLETELY stuffed with delicious filling. We can't wait to go back!More

Cute little shop with friendly service. They offer several different flavours of Taiyaki and a range of matcha drinks. We had the cheesy chicken Taiyaki which was delicious and cooked fresh in front of us. We also had an iced matcha drink which was perfect...on a hot summers day!More

A real taste of Taiyaki from Japan! The red bean one is worth to die for. There are a few choices of flavour: chocolate, red bean, dark chocolate and peanut butter. I cannot remember how many they offer. The owners are very friendly and nice...too!More
