What a mega place to go! Take your family, take the grandparents, take your kids this place is fantastic.
You book a table and chose any one of the 1000’s of games they have on shelves all around the place and have some fun.
Order drinks and nibbles or better still order an awesome burger and play a game of an afternoon or evening. This is such a social place and such fun. Never knew anything like this existed but now so do we’ll be back as it was a wonder family night out and the food was wonderful too.
This place is a must do!!
Take the kids on a wet day or during holidays and have a special day out!

Traveling alone can be exhilarating and also taxing. I swung by Counter Culture on a Monday (not sure why the app lists The hours as being closed on Monday other than they obviously sit on a throne of lies). I managed to join a Meet Up group for “pick up games” where I could sit in, meet some folks, and enjoy a lively but quieter night out. There were both serious games with intense boards spread across the table and groups playing party style games. Add on a couple of decent beers on tap and some tasty bites and you have the makings of a solid night if you bring your own crew or join one. I’m not sure how often you can find the pick-up games but I definitely appreciated the option.

Great cafe in a good location to play board games (supplied by the cafe), over a meal and/or a drink. Really nice staff with good service and lovely food. Excellent range of board games to try. On Monday evenings turn up to play board games with other people you may not know. Nice place for a work lunch with games attached.

LEFT SUPER DISAPPOINTED! Recently went here for dinner, beer, and to play a board game with my girlfriend. The board game, that we paid to play, was missing pieces so we were unable to finish playing. We very politely tried to notify a manager and another employee separately to explain the situation, manager was very rude and acted like he didn’t care. He said that we took up a table and that was that, no refund for the board game or anything. He didn’t offer any solutions, he was just very rude. It was very upsetting, an extremely sour ending to a fun game. We paid for a service, the service wasn’t up to par with what they promised, we asked for our money back for the game play, not including the two meals and two beers, they said no.

Hi,
We are sorry you felt that we were rude to you. That certainly wasn’t our intention.
Unfortunately, we were too busy to give your game a thorough check when you brought the missing component to our attention. Sorry we weren’t able to do this at the time. Once service calmed down a little and we had a chance to check all of the components in the game you were playing, we found that none of the components were actually missing. It seems that you were misled by the rulebook. We try to familiarise ourselves with as many games as possible, so that things like this don’t happen, but sadly we can’t learn them all. This is especially true of games which are brand new to the cafe, such as the one you were playing.
If you still feel you’d like your money back, please feel free to email us your bank account details and we’ll process your refund as soon as possible.

Loved my first time here with my husband and son (age 5) .
Went along on a windy rainy day for 3 hours and it really is just awesome. The selection of board games is amazing, and the service is awesome. You can just happily sit here for hours enjoying your time and eating good food. Everyone seems to have their own little nook happily playing games for hours.

I loved the shelves and shelves of board games arranged: New, Popular, Staff Picks, Classic, Complex, Big group party, and Cards/Dice. We had reservations and a table perfectly located behind some shelves. The pizza was delicious and the staff so very helpful and attentive. I just wish I lived closer so I could come here every week!

A great place to spend a few hours on our rainy Sunday. I've never seen so many board games in 1 place! Pizza was delicious and good range of drinks available too. An excellent place to check out.

Small selection of beers but a wide range of other drinks as well as bar snacks to accompany what is an amazing board game library for enjoying with your table mates. Friendly staff knowledgeable in the games and eager to help. A lovely Saturday evening!

We are board game fans so made sure to pop in here, which we did on a Sunday afternoon. $5 each to play for two hours. Licensed with good beers on tap and a selection of sodas. We didn’t eat while here. Lots of good games. Wish we had a place like this at home!

Great selection of games, friendly service, good atmosphere. Chips were delicious but the rest of our meals were poor. Fun place to visit.

We enjoyed dinner because we can play as we eat. It was near the hotel we have booked, and the staff were helpful without being over-bearing. Food was also delish. It was fun!

Had a great evening spent at Counter Culture with a group of friends. The selection of board games is immense! So much choice and it's clearly a very popular venue - booking definitely advised despite the number of tables. Good cider, and a very tasty gluten free brownie with ice cream! The rest of the food looked delicious too, and there were several vegetarian and gluten free options on the menu.
Staff were lovely, friendly and very helpful. Overall a really good setup, and a good evening activity for any sized group of friends.

Wonderful restaurant concept where a family dinner can easily become a super fun night out, away from mobile phone and gadgets. Straight forward food - most of us had the beef chilly and it was delicious - and a wide selection of board games kept us entertained for hours! Highly recommended!
