Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very impressive. Friends had the banquet - more than enough wonderful food. I had the Macau Duck Pancakes, which were a fabulous Duck à l’orange fusion. This restaurant is worth making a detour for.

Wandering along the waterfront there are many choices to make but I’m so glad everyone in our group agreed on this one. As a group of 5 we went with the $65 a head banquet. The food was exceptional with each “round” better than the...last. So hard to pick a favourite but beef cheeks, lamb ribs, and sticky chicken were standouts. Loved the dining experience from start to finish. Next time I travel to Tauranga for work I’ll be heading back to give it another go.More

If you like great Asian fusion cuisine, don’t miss Macau Bar Kitchen & Lounge on Tauranga’s waterfront. The contemporary menu is smart and sophisticated and the service, top level. Osheen, our waitress was amazing! The San Choi Bao lamb ribs had my husband wanting to...lick the plate! I was swooning over the Poke Bowl with the freshest salmon I’ve ever had. And…the Mango and Coconut Sago with coconut cream, mango purée, vanilla yogurt and the crunch of almond praline topped with mango sorbet was the prettiest dish ever and SO delicious. Highly recommend.More

We love this place. They’ve got it spot on. You’re welcomed, seated and given water/menus straight away. The menu is so varied, there’s something for everyone. It’s best if you get a few different plates and share everything. All of the dishes are so well...balanced - they have crunch, spice, freshness, deliciousness. The wait staff are outstanding and the owners often pitch in, to their credit, they are fantastically welcoming and friendly. Today, we shared the prawn tails (sublime), mushroom and tofu dumplings (so fresh), a chicken bao bun (so yummy) and some cross-hatch fries (some of the best fries ever) washed down with a cocktail for him and a G and T for me. You really feel as though you’re in a treat yo’self moment when you go to Macau. Sitting in the sunshine, overlooking the harbour and enjoying fabulous food. So long as Macau keeps its doors open, we’ll keep coming back. Just a thought though, could you please bring back General Tso’s chicken and the milk and cookies dessert? We still talk about them!More

Came here on a recommendation and was not disappointed. 4 of us had a combination of sharing foods which were delicious and 3 rounds of drinks. The waitress was very attentive and kept the food coming at just the right time. The decor was creative...and there was a lovely ambience about the place. This was the first time we have tried an Asian Fusion restaurant, and loved it. The service was spot on, and the decor was nice. The food was fascinating, and treated the tastebuds to some marvellous flavours. We were a party of 4 and chose...the Gold Banquet, which turned out to be an excellent decision. The night was a great experience.More

It was closed when we came by 30 minutes ago. Even though its website says it is open. Disappointing to say the least. If you could update your website with actual hours open. I could have saved myself a trip.. My wife ate here a...week ago and had the lunch special and said we should go too.. Though I'm only ever available on a Sunday for lunch.More
