Breakfast and Brunch

We stopped here at midday and my partner had the steak pie and I had my favourite breakfast, eggs bene. The food and the service were hot notch and we could not find fault with anything. The Holllandaise was smooth tasty as was the gravy in the pie. We both enyojed our experience here and will not hesitate to recommend it to any and all friends and tourists. Thanks Alimento, you exceeded our expectations!!

Revisited cafe after several years to find great GF food options.

I had heard There was a new chef and there were lots of GF options on the menu, but more so that they did Gf muffins, so we decide to take a look. There were many GF options available ... (that weren't the same old, same old options available at every other Cafe. (All egg based). It's rare to find a muffin offered that's GF in cafés. I was absolutely blown away by how moist and light the muffin was. (Blackberry and dark chocolate) full of fruit and flavorsome. Lovely friendly wait staff too. We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you to the new chef.

Great vegan options!

Heard that there was a new chef so we decided to pop last weekend. Pleasantly surprised to find many vegan options on the menu! The scrambled tofu was delicious as was the coffee :) Heartedly recommended!!

Breakfast not nice even though good reviews. Cooked Breakfast ready in 5 minutes so I think it must be precooked. waffles hard and they charge $1.50 for cup of hot water. Bacon hard and burnt on one side. Dont go there

Very Disappointing

This place used to be consistently good but today’s food was mostly inedible and the drinks were too awful to finish. I had a steak and cheese pie but when it came out it had been nuked in the microwave so the pastry was soggy. Then the filing was very little steak but a lot of carrots, onions etc. I am not a child who needs to have their vegetables hidden. My partner had the Caesar salad and it came in a very high-sided bowl so it was difficult to see what their was and it had way too much dressing. I had a smoothie which was thin, not cold enough and tasted of peanut butter. He had a long black which he said was burned. All in all, it was terrible food and bad drinks so we won’t be back.

Terrible service, had to wait ridiculously long for our meal (it was not busy) and then order was mixed up with no apology. Meal was disappointing and not of a standard one would expect for the price. Got smashed peas which were served chilled with warm toast and the smallest poached egg one can imagine, it was just weird. Would not go back. This place used to be good but would no longer recommend.

Worst Food ever had

Would not recommend this place to be honest and I'm not a fussy person or a Karen. I had the Eggs Benedict with bacon. I got a decent amount of bacon which was great...if it t had actually been cooked. The whole lot was raw and had literally couldn't eat any of it. The bacon was practically see through and was very chewy. Meanwhile the piece of sourdough I got was the size of my palm quite literally and there was only one piece. If the piece had been somewhat of a decent size that would have been fine. The only decent part was the two hash browns....but they were tiny as well. Underneath the two eggs there was quite literally 6 leaves of spinach......enough said. Will not be returning sorry and wouldn't recommend.

Seemed a nice spot to sit in the sunshine, but goodness the service was dreadful ! Slow and so disorganized it was pathetic, if the kitchen was SO over loaded perhaps the Front counter lady may of said - 'OH there could be a wait of at least 30 minutes' and we would of changed our order or better still gone elsewhere. It was only 1215 and not even full by any means. Heated Sausage Roll arrived just warm on the outside and cold inside, sent it back to reheat. The other Order of Pancakes never arrived ?? after 35 minutes asked and was told that Order was 4th on the List - REALLY you have to be joking ! Cancelled the food and got 1 hot coffee, the front counter never even suggested a complimentary one Never go there again that is for sure, rather visit McDs at least they are quick and the food normally hot. Did notice other Tables also still waiting on Food, think they need a new cook or an extra one if they cannot cope with a small crowd Put this one on the Do Not Bother list for Tauranga in the future

No hospitality. Never go back there

I had the worst customer service here. I ordered several things and all came out but one thing. I asked the girl at the cashier about the one item that I was still waiting for my son, as we were finishing other food and she just looked at me like I didn’t ordered that. She didn’t say a word, just gave a look with attitude, and turned the back on me. She looked through all dockets. After 10 minutes, she realised that I did order that item and paid for. She came back with plate and dropped on the table and walked off. I do not believe it’s service.

Disappointing

Have eaten here previously & it was great. Unfortunately their lunch menu is limited limited. I asked if there was coriander in the fish tacos (not mentioned on the menu), was told there wasn't - there was. I returned it & replaced it with the bruschetta (mushrooms) with a poached egg, which came quickly. The egg was perfectly cooked but the mushrooms were quite sweet which is a shame because it had potential to be delicious. I could only eat half as the sweetness was off putting. Coffee was good. Note: paid street parking

Alimento has been my go-to for the 5 years working in the CBD, at times holding meetings there. Today, with one of my team getting married, we decided to go to Alimento thinking it had been a while. As quick as we arrived, we left. Whilst appreciating prices have increased, we found them to be exorbitant, especially for lunch. For a cafe that used to be hustling and bustling with business people, it was strangely quiet with only 3 tables occupied. Such a shame.

Nothing fantastic

The coffee is good. That's where it ends. First time I went I ordered scrambled eggs. Looked like an omelet that was forgotten about then sliced up...no flavourful, rubber texture Went back recently hoping 1st experience was just a bad egg day for them. Ordered poached eggs this time. Worst poached eggs I've ever had. And no I didn't bring it up at the time.

It’s gone downhill

Possibly one of the worst Eggs Benedict with bacon I have ever had. The bacon had the consistency of shoe leather, I am not exaggerating when i say I could not cut it with the provided cutlery. The toasted bread underneath it all was a single tiny dry piece which seemed days old. The rosti on the side was greasy and tasted like the oil in the fryer needed changing. Finally the hollandaise was bland and tastelessness well as stone cold. The only saving grace was the poached eggs were cooked well. Used to be one of our favourite places for breakfast in Tauranga but unlikely to return after the latest experience.

This cafe used to be great. The previous owners were friendly & obliging. Sadly this has not continued with the current owners. The woman owner is downright off hand in her approach & does not make the customer feel welcome. I’m sad to say what was once a great place to have a coffee or brunch is not as welcoming as it once was. Such a shame!!

Won't be back

We went for Sunday lunch but it was so disappointing we wont be back. Service very slow and the staff were totally disinterested and unfriendly. Hubby ordered a cheese scone heated. Came out cold. He saw it sitting on the bench for 5 minutes before it was even brought to our table.I ordered the squid salad off the board. 5 tiny bits of squid and a horrible dressing. I couldn't eat it. What a waste of $22! What's happened to this place??
