Our experience at this cafe was terrible. The cafe has changed names and is now 'Cruise Cafe', the quality of food was very poor, with brown avocado and frozen spinach being served. On the eggs bene the smoked salmon portion was tiny - not worth...the money. The hot chocolate was awful, it was essentially just hot frothy milk, no chocolate to be found. Looking around at other diners meals the quality was low across the board, with supermarket sandwich bread being served for toast. The wait staff were unhelpful and very confused about orders. We waited a really long time for both drinks and food, which were in no way worth the wait. We were very disappointed with our breakfast here, the whole experience was budget and slap dash. Would not recommend.More

Waited over AN HOUR for "the Captains Breakfast" which one would assume would be filling like every other big breakfast, but was small and left us hungry at the end. The ingredients were too simple and could easily make yourself for a quarter of the...price. Milkshake was $4.50 for a normal sized cup that you would find in your kitchen, and was just syrup. Ice tea was still warm with a few ice cubes dropped in it. Would pay $10 max for their $18.50 breakfast.More

Have been here several times over the years the previous owners had it, well run, beautiful food. Some time in 2015 the business changed hands, and this was our first visit since, nowhere near as busy as we had been used to. We ordered tea...and coffee to be served at the end of the meal, it arrived first, and the waitress said we did not ask for it at the end of the meal. One of us heard the other ask. Two Captain's breakfast duly arrived, one on a plate which should remain in the kitchen, and newspaper was used under it to stop the clanging because it was wobbling badly. For $18.50 we are used to more than a microscopic bit of bacon, and an egg which sits fully on hash browns, instead of lopsidedly and unused to having tasteless hollandaise on it. Maybe a chutney to go with the sausages would work. Not a butter lover, but a bit more on the toast would have been good. Won't be back.More

This cafe has consistently shown great service with a friendly smile. I like that they give you a tiny biscuit with the coffee- a nice touch. The food is very good, and they have a nice outdoor area with shade if needed.

This would have to be the worst meal I have had anywhere ever. My husband and I had brunch there this morning and I ordered eggs benedict which was to be served on a toasted bagel. It arrived and looked like it had just been...dumped on the plate. Our plates were both badly chipped and crazed - how unhygenic is that for a start!! My eggs were so uncooked they were nearly transparent and the bagel had been cut in half and the two pieces placed on top of each other untoasted with the eggs and bacon splattered on top leaving the bagel so soggy and unappetising and I wasn't even able to cut through it. The hollandaise was something horrible from a bottle and after one mouthful my stomach was left churning and unable to eat another bite. My husband's meal was pretty much the same but as he was hungry and has a much stronger constitution he ate his. There was no apology or offer to refund my money from the staff and we left in disgust. We eat out alot and I have never been moved to give a review on Trip Advisor until now - that is how badly the whole experience has left us feeling. Warning - Stay Away!!!More

We were disappointed in the food here. I had the rosti, which seemed authentic enough for a Swiss restaurant, and the veal bratwurst was reasonable, but my wife's omelet was overcooked, and there really wasn't much flavor to my meal. The better restaurants didn't open...until later, so this was sort of a brunch stop, but the next time I'm in Tauranga I'll be sure to wait until 12 when everyone else starts serving.More

From a table of eight only one person liked their meal. The pancakes were dry and supposed to be served with cream but they had run out at 8.00 in the morning. They also only had three Bananas so had to substitute one with berries....The Sausages on the big breakfast tasted nothing like German sausages, the bacon was minuscule and burnt black in places . In the past this was our favourite cafe but never againMore

I have been to this restaurant several times in the past and it's been good. You order a yodel breakfast and the man used to yodel away out the back. Yesterday I went there and ordered a yodel breakfast (a big breakfast). There was no...yodelling. The food took about an hour to come out with no waitress appoligising for the ridiculous wait. ... The place wasn't even busy. The food came out. The mushrooms were burnt to smithereens. The sausages were what you would expect from a cheap greasy truck stop. The hollandaise sauce was straight out of the bottle plastered all over the eggs. Thoroughly dissatisfied with how this cafe has gone down hillMore
