Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice coffee but underwhelming croque salmon. No value for money. I am not a hugh eater but I could have easily eaten two. They tasted great and the coffee was nice too but I just expect to be filled if I pay 17 for a...sandwich. It is so easily rectified with some thicker artisan bread. Not something that looked like a supermarket slice. I won't be doing this again. Too bad.More

Friendly and fast service, even though they were busy. I ordered from the cabinet which had an array of tempting goodies to choose from. My savoury brioche was delicious and the coffee great too. Will be back :)

Had heard this place was amazing. Had an hour break between clients on a Saturday morning so thought I'd try it out. Walked in to a very busy cafe. Ordered the crepe breakfast and an English Breakfast Tea. Managed to find a table and waited.......Tea arrived about 15 minutes later. 35 minutes later no sign of my breakfast and I realised even if it arrived in the next few minutes I wasn't going to be able to finish it in time. Queue still at counter and people waiting for take outs so left to go to my next job. ($18 gone). Disappointing....but tea was good.More

Instead of my usual date scone I was looking forward to a crepe after my wife and friend had recently visited. My crepe was with bacon, banana and maple syrup. I enjoyed the crepe. The two things I would say, would be, that the banana...should have been fried and that more maple syrup was required. Service was good. I’ll go back again and I’ll point these two things out to them and I’ll enjoy it even more!More

If you're looking for a cafe lunch in Greerton Village, you can't go past Le Chat Noir. The coffee is good, and they have a good selection of food - including brioche, crepes, and toasted sandwiches - done French-style, with thick crusty bread.

I read on tripadvisor that the crepes were Le Chat Noir specialty and they certainly did not fail to please. My friend had savoury and I had sweet. Both equally delicious. Staff were pleasant and helpful, didn't have to wait long until our plates of...deliciousness arrived. Great cabinet choices available.More

Spent some time with family at this cafe over the weekend. Nice to find a quality cafe amongst a street lined with traditional NZ bakeries. I really enjoyed their 'Poulet Salad'. The cafe has a stylish decor and a professional stylish vibe. Will visit again...:)More

I enjoyed the Tuscan Style Vegetable soup and we also got a baguette. Both were very delicious. The seats out the back are a beautiful surprise and very romantic and intimate. Will happy come back.

Le Chat Noir is my local cafe, so I visit there on the occasion when I would like a good coffee and an authentic, buttery, french pastry. Think warm, soft, almond croissant...mmmm. But, on this occasion there we no pastries on offer! And I can't...say that I recognised any of the staff members either. Is this place under new ownership? The cafe is still cute, and the coffee was still good, but their baked goods were not so appealing. I tried the carrot cake and it was the worst cake - of any description - that I have ever eaten. Rock solid, crumbly, dry, with a centimetre thick crust. I left most of it on the plate. Not sure what's happening here, but I will have to revisit and try one of their crepes before giving it my ultimate judgment.More

Very expensive and definitely not up to scratch. Pancakes were much better under the previous ownership a few years back. Not only prices have now shot up but the quality of food served has gone down. These are not French Crepes anymore, only thick layers...of bland undercooked batter. Descriptions on the menu are still first class though, but by no means match the food served. For instance the choco-vanille dessert, which costs an arm and a leg, mentions: "ganache", but all you get is a folded plain gooey pancake with a ball of vanilla ice cream on top and a wiggle of runny chocolate sauce out of a squirt bottle all over... French cooking at its best...! The seafood pancake comes with a completely unseasoned, tasteless sauce which you have to perk up with salt/pepper... Not an easy task once it is inside a rolled pancake..! Same with creamy chicken and all other dishes served to our party. A very disappointing meal for all on what was supposed to be a special day.More
